The Madame nodded and the armed men circled the room and pointed weapons at the Consortium members. Kris’s mother was forced to the ground and a gun was held against her head. “Once upon a time…” she began and crossed to the windows and looked out to the garden, “There was a girl, she was born with a silver spoon in and she didn’t want for anything but as the girl grew older she realized she was trapped in a system of subservience. You see my mother was the daughter of Chairman Min’s brother. My mother was brought up in the shadow of her cousin, Min Yoongi.”

Yoongi shifted at the mention of his name. Everyone naturally looked at him.

“Min Yoongi was one of five heirs born into a Consortium and everyone doted on him, worried about him, cared for him more than my mother. My mother watched from the sidelines as the five heirs grew up in the light. All opportunities were provided, while she had to make do with second-hand attention from her own parents. All my mother wanted was a chance but she the moment she voiced her opinion that things should change, she was sent off to a university in a small town. My mother had to watch while the heirs were provided with opportunities to study abroad and learn the business trade, but she was stuck. Then she met a young man who she fell in love with, a man who showed her that there was more to life than power. My mother fell pregnant and promised my father that she would tell her family so they could be a family.”
