Author's Note

Hello~! Decided to make an AU fic that is based on an otome game "Lost Alice!" I recommend playing it or maybe watch the routes on Youtube :D I made this almost a year and posted it but decided to make a revision so you'll notice a bit of changes. It is also inspired by "Mr. Sunshine" so you'll see some parallels. The story isn't exactly like the game or the show, majority of the ideas are my own so if you see anything similar other than the two references I mentioned, it's just a coincidence. Please do not plagiarize as well.

I'm still working on other ongoing stories (if you're interested, feel free to check them out :D) as well as occupied with school and work, so there may be a bit of slow updates ToT Other than that, I hope you look forward to it! Feedback is greatly appreciated and a source of motivation :) <3

Also, I would like to say Happy Birthday to our healing smile and Takoyaki Prince, Yuta! <3

Chapter 1: I finally found the time to sit down and read this today! I'm glad after today's stack of homework and chores, this was a lovely incentive :)

I first want to just say that I AM IN LOVEE WITH THIS CONCEPT! Holy crap, fantasy, romance, magic, angst, and even better -- YUSOO...what more can I ask for?!! Omg, let me just pause for a moment to claim that I absolutely adore Alice in Wonderland. I never heard of "Lost in Alice," but when I searched up, I realized I have seen it before (probably like advertisements on my social media). I saw the trailer video for it, and I can totally sense where this is going, even though this is also inspired by another work.

Only hearing that this embodies aspects of Alice in Wonderland has already gotten me hooked. I am a huge er for these kinds of stories. I love fantasy, magic -- inserts everything I mentioned above ^ -- it honestly is just a childhood nostalgic of mine, and I will never get tired with these types of genres! Especially when I saw the aesthetics for this story (I love anime gifs, they are just the definition of aesthetic) I was like B-E-T! I don't know what Mr. Sunshine is, but when I read the plot, I really liked it. I can definitely see the connections of both works in this story.

aNYwAYS, going on with the chapter...it was only the first one, yet it contained so much information! This might sound weird because most people probably don't comment about this, but my supreme most favorite thing about reading this is the style of the dialogue. It's so eloquent, poised, serious, graceful....so....historical -- I DIG IT!! I also forgot to add I am a leech for historical!aus, too. Everything I look for in a fanfic is all in here, and honestly, I can't be happier. But reading Mr. Sunshine actually did intrigue me, thanks to you I'll most likely watch it!! Back to the topic, I don't know how you are able to elegantly write on how one would talk in a historical!au because I can't. I'm in awe, literally, and I keep getting more interested as I see more of this fine- dialogue. Pushing that aside, I enjoy the portrayal of Jisoo; headstrong, stubborn, warmhearted, feisty. It's very refreshing to read a female protagonist being in an army -- I don't see that quite often, yet it excites me. I'm glad that there are some changes in that not only Jisoo is capable of being independent mentally, but physically. I am anticipating her dynamic relationship with lumber boy!!!! We haven't seen much of Yuta, but just from the description and little scenes he's had, I can already tell this story is gonna be filled angst (I also saw your affection for angst on your status, but you didn't hear it from me). Already depicting the traits of Jisoo and stating Yuta's role (aka the Timekeeper who is forbidden to have a 'human heart') fire and water is gonna clash -- colorful paint splattered across a black and white canvas -- Passion vs. Emotionless.

It's pretty clear family is going to be a big theme throughout this one, particularly with her father, the death of her brother, and the disappearance of her mother. I do hope we get a chance to fully know the reason for her abandonment since it is one of the causes for Jisoo's sort-of internal conflict with herself (also maybe cause it just reminds me of Avatar the Last Airbender, and it was never stated the story of Zuko's mom ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ). I may have a few guesses myself, regarding Jisoo's mom, but obviously, I would have to read more until I actually form a clear theory.

Reading this story reminds me of this anime "Pandora Hearts." I didn't finish it, but the anime also has similarities and inspiration from Alice in Wonderland. But the main point is, reading this had really reminded of this song from the anime called "Lacie's Melody" (music box or piano version). It's somber, gloomy, tragic, dark, yet comforting and so beautiful that could instantly describe the mood/tone for this story, or rather the title itself. Speaking of which, the title is so angsty omg (not in a bad way) but to me, it totally feels like it foreshadows the plot, and puts it into motion.

This is like the first time since I've been AFF in, like, forever, and I am thankful to stumble upon this fanfic. So far, everything is marvelous and I can't wait to read more! :) Keep up the good work <3
