Chapter 6
ForeseeChapter 6,
The next morning I sit up after waking up to Dohwan's alarm he had set last night. I glance over at Dohwan who was sleeping on his mat against the wall opposite of me. I had quickly fallen asleep last night after eating. I was too embarrassed to talk to him so I pretended to be really tired. Dohwan stirs awake and I quickly avoid him.
I stand up folding up my blankets and mat before looking down at the outfit I was wearing. I didn't have my uniform. I'd have to stop by and somehow get it while my mom was gone.
I sigh, hearing Dohwan stretching from his side of the room.
"I'm going to go, I have to stop by my house. I'll see you at school." I tell him reaching towards the window.
"Will you be alright on your own?" Dohwan asks as I slide the window open. The cool morning breeze seeps in and I shiver.
"I'll be fine, they won't touch me so I can't get hurt." I push myself up onto the window seal and over it onto the grass. Luckily he didn't live in a huge apartment complex. It was just a small one that probably had at most four apartments. It was a house someone in the past had renovated into several apartments, which would explain why it was so small inside. So since the place was small there were only two levels to the house and he lived in one of the lower levels. So getting out was easy.
The walk to my apartment wasn't too long either because Dohwan's place wasn't too far from mine. In fact I could see the huge complex from outside his place. My family used to be well off, my dad was a business man. My dad's parents both worked in a hospital, my grandpa a doctor, my grandma a nurse. My grandpa had passed away and left his money in accounts for all his grandchildren. We each got a fair amount but most went to my dad and grandma. So when my dad died what was left over went to my mom who wasted a chunk of it away illegally gambling. Luckily she stopped that shortly after she started and saved the rest for rent and food. She wasn't that dumb, for she at one point had a good paying job as well but after my dad died she'd gotten fired.
I sigh once I've arrived in front of the complex, I walk slowly to the elevator and hit the eleventh floor. Once there I head down to our apartment. I reach for the handle but as soon as I do the door opens. Out steps my mom who flinches back once she sees me.
"What are you doing here?" She says eyes wide.
I swallow. "I need my uniform."
She glances back inside and back at me running a hang through her hair.
"Wait here I'll get it for you." She rushes back in closing the door behind her. I back up against the wall and my shoulders slump. It's hard to believe she once loved me. I force my eyes shut remembering all the times we'd all go out as a family before my brother died. How we used to celebrate my birthday and how my mom loved taking me shopping. My fingers clench into a fist, this was all because I wasn't normal anymore. My mind reels to Dohwan, he could make me feel normal again right?
I hear the door click open so I let my eyes fall open. My mother stands holding my uniform out towards me. I go to reach for it but last minute she pulls back and throws it into my chest before slipping back behind the door.
I in a breath and hold it for as long as I can before letting it out. I breathe heavily catching my breath before pushing myself off the wall and back down to the elevator.
