Foreword

On a cold, damp night, a car is parked in the driveway of a now empty house. Personal belongings, packed away in boxes and suitcases, clutter the driveway. Friends gather as Jack, a university fresh grad, is loading up the car, ready for the big move. Ben, his best friend throughout the years, was handing him boxes as he loaded them into the trunk. "You sure you need all this crap?" Ben said, as he picks up a box labelled 'Comics', "I mean, are you ever going to read these again?"

Jack glared at him. "Those are going to be worth something someday." Jack takes the box from Ben, staring down at it. "These helped me a lot over the years." Without another word he places the box in the car and closes the trunk. He turns to see his friends standing around him, all looking at him with sad eyes. "You're not gonna start crying are you?" Jack said, tears forming in his eyes. "Cause that's weak." Suddenly, a pair of arms embraces him from behind, without turning, he knew who it was. He takes the hands in his own, and smiles a warm smile.

"Crying is not a sign of weakness, but courage." Sunmi said softly, as she hugs Jack tightly.

Ben walks over to them slowly. "Just remember to keep in touch, okay?" he says in a hushed tone, keeping back the tears. "Otherwise, we'll find you." Ben extends his hand towards Jack.

Jack pulls away from Sunmi, slaps Ben's hand away, and embraces him. Tears start streaming from his eyes. "Dammit, I said I wasn't going to cry." Ben chuckles, but remains silent, not saying a word, allowing the tears to fall. "I got to go, I'll see yous again, soon." With that, Jack turns his back to the crowd, he and Sunmi get in the car and start it up. He reverses out of the driveway, and stops in the street. With one final look and salute, he drives off. Cheers are heard from his friends as they get smaller and smaller in the wing mirror.
