The Fault of Perfection | OSH
Description
**This is a SehunxOC fic**
‘A loved one is someone who you’re comfortable with, who you don’t mind showing your flaws to. But a loved one is also someone who you strive to be perfect for, because you know they’re worth it.’
-Anonymous
His sharp, cold eyes scanned the rows of trainees, his gaze hard and unforgiving.
They were a pathetic bunch, but that was only to be expected. They were just trainees, after all. He was sure that after a few months, they'd begin to harden - they always did. Standing next to him, his tall cousin gave all the trainees a warm smile which a few of them returned. The young captain remained stoic and cool, however - like he always was.
He watched as each of the trainees stiffened as they met his gaze, immediately lowering their eyes to the floor. He didn't care - in fact, he preferred it this way. The more scared of him they were, the better they'd listen, the faster they'd become the soldiers he wanted them to be.
Oh Sehun was a perfectionist - he strived for perfection in every way possible, refusing accepting flaws or weaknesses in any form. He didn't believe in the notion that 'nothing was perfect'. He demanded perfection from himself and everyone around him, and, while it was tiring, he saw it as just a way of life. To him, there was nothing more satisfying than the faultless and the impeccable.
And yet, when his gaze landed on her, her innocent eyes locking with his own dark ones, something rose in his chest. A strange feeling of familiarity and...something else. Apprehension, perhaps, or maybe just anticipation. He really didn't know.
All he knew was that his perfect world was about to change.
The war between North and South Korea rages on and its effects are seen everywhere.
Park Chaeyoung is just an ordinary girl with an ordinary life in South Korea, but certain events see her enrolling in the military despite her diminutive strength and size. She doesn't know what to expect while training as a cadet, but she certainly doesn't expect someone like Oh Sehun entering her life, with his cold and less-than-likeable personality, harsh comments and ridiculously high expectations.
But she also doesn't expect forming strong friendships with unlikely people, overcoming impossible hardships and even... falling in love.
Unfortunately, life is seldom easy and is often unpredictable in the most dangerous of ways.
As beautiful as life is, it is also fragile and easily shattered.
Even the strongest will eventually fall.
Foreword
Starring:
Oh Sehun - cousin of Park Chanyeol and grandson of Oh Jinhyuk, a famous military leader. He's cold, sharp and incredibly smart, not to mention a fighting prodigy. He's been involved in the military since young and was promoted to Lieutenant at age 18. He's certainly not the most amiable fellow and can be fairly reserved and intimidating. He is currently 25 years old and his hobbies include reading mystery and historical fiction novels, fighting, drinking coffee and being an in general.
Park Chaeyoung - a naive, air-headed and cheerful girl who grew up in a small town near Seoul. She moved to the city when she was 15 with her mother and two brothers where they opened a small but successful cafe. She's very soft-hearted and kind but has a fairly witty sense of humour and a surprisingly smart mouth. She appears easily intimidated and weak-willed at first but she's capable of holding her own ground, especially if one of her loved ones are being threatened. Her hobbies include reading sappy romance novels and watching cliche romance dramas, listening to music and taking walks in the rain. She's 23 when she decides to join the military for certain reasons.
Park Chanyeol - a dorky goofball who just needs a hug. Currently 26, he's also a well-known figure in the military and Sehun's cousin. However, due to his friendly disposition, he isn't as feared as his cousin and much more approachable. Don't get me wrong though, he could still beat your up if you hurt any of his friends. He can also be serious and intimidating when he needs to be, but those occasions usually only come once in a blue moon. He likes basketball, Rilakumma and memes. He doesn't mind that Sehun is more famous than him and is proud of his best friend. He also likes annoying the hell out of Sehun just for fun, because he obviously doesn't know death even when it's standing in front of him, glaring at him because he stole it's favourite pen and forgot to return it.
