“Hmm, that doesn’t sound right…” Yongsun pondered.   Her work colleague changed the recording tracks of the parts that Yongsun pointed. “How about this one?”   The speaker played the work in progress, but the brunette wasn’t happy with the results. “Change the ad lib at the end of the second chorus with the one on the eighth track instead of ten.”   The same song was playing, with a different ending this time. It still hadn’t given the right feel that Yongsun wanted. “Change it with the ad lib on the ninth track this time.”   This time the song ended really well that Yongsun smiled in content. “That sounds great Jae. I think we’re done for the day.”   The young audio engineer happily took his backpack to tidy up while Yongsun stretched in her seat. It was a regular Friday afternoon so she had some time before Byulyi came to pick her up. The programmer spent half of her time working from home, the other half in Jeju. She dreaded weekdays – as if they couldn’t get any worse – since Byulyi had to be on-site.   That was why when Byulyi’s head appeared on her door, donning that signature dorky smile with her nose muscles on her face, Yongsun couldn’t help but return the smile.   “Hey handsome,” she welcomed the programmer, to which the latter responded with a peck on her lips.   “Are you done for the day?”   “Not quite.”   “Quickly then, I’m starving,” Byulyi whispered the second part of the sentence with her husky voice. It sent a tingling feeling on Yongsun’s spine and encouraged the butterflies on her stomach to fly everywhere.   “Give me ten minutes,” Yongsun bit her lower lip and pushed Byulyi away.   “Five,” Byulyi rotated Yongsun’s chair so the latter was right in front of her desktop and finish up her work, “I miss you and I need you on my bed yesterday.”   Yongsun had to hold back her whimper. Goddamn butterflies.   *   Exactly fifteen minutes later, the couple had arrived in their usual ddeokbokki place. It really took Yongsun five minutes to finish her work and with Byulyi’s riding, they only needed less than ten minutes to ride past the traffic. They picked a seat by the window, waiting for their order to be cooked in front of them.   “What time did you land?” Yongsun asked Byulyi, who was tying her hair into a ponytail.   “Four thirty. I skipped lunch so I could finish work earlier and catch the three pm flight.”   Yongsun frowned in disapproval but helped Byulyi tuck the stray hair out of her face anyway, “You need to take care of yourself better, Byul-ah.” As much as she loved how the younger woman diligently works, her meals were often forgotten as she was lost in her coding.   “It’s okay, I had a hearty breakfast this morning,” Byulyi assured her with a warm smile. “Anything good happened at work today?”   “Not really,” Yongsun propped her head on her knuckle, “I have ample time to produce a new song. It’s a slow day.”   Byulyi mirrored Yongsun’s pose, exaggerating her interest with a serious frown and a nod of her head. It brought a smile to the latter, followed by a quick peck that Byulyi happily returned.   “Tomorrow’s gonna be a great day. I can finally have you for myself,” Byulyi whispered. She had been missing their time together and she would have a whole weekend to show that to Yongsun the next day.   “Thank God it’s Friday, then,” Yongsun smiled against Byulyi’s lips.   *   Yongsun and Byulyi were panting, eyes locked on each other.   “I’m close,” Byulyi panted. Her thighs were burning up, almost on a brink of exhaustion from the rounds they’d been having.   “I’m gonna come first this time,” Yongsun growled.   But Byulyi was adamant. She had to; her pride was on the line.   The glint in Byulyi’s eyes was the signal for Yongsun to be faster. She let out a weak moan from the burn in her calves and thighs, but she kept going. She knew she was closer than before, the goal was right in front of her eyes.   Byulyi had to bit her lower lip to stifle a laugh. Yongsun was so cute when she’s trying so hard and she made sure to say it every once in a while. This time though, she didn’t want to relent and went faster with her movement.   Almost at the same time, the two women felt a vibration on their hand.   It was a split second difference, but Yongsun raised her hand first with a scream that pierced through the panting sounds in the room.   Byulyi let her tired body plopped down on the sofa while Yongsun was jumping around in glee. She let out a weak laugh, taking off the blue joy con from her wrist.   Who knew that Kim Yongsun would enjoy chasing a beach flag from a Nintendo Switch mini game?   “Hah! I own your this time!” Yongsun pointed to Byulyi who was reaching for the water bottle. Her shoulder-length hair was in messy bun, an after product from running in place so much. She might be a little too overjoyed for winning once, but the taste of victory after losing so many times before had never been so sweet.   “Okay okay, I admit my defeat this time,” Byulyi smiled, handing the water bottle after taking a generous gulp herself.   Yongsun plopped beside Byulyi, hydrating herself. The couple had been playing 1-2 Switch all day, from the Quick Draw, the Telephone game – Byulyi had to forfeit since Yongsun screamed ‘hello’ so loud her right ear was ringing – to the Dance Off where Byulyi’s dancing ability was apparently nothing compared to Yongsun’s.   Yongsun was winning most of the time, to Byulyi’s surprise. It was only in Beach Flag where the latter repeatedly won and gained what’s left of her pride as a gamer, but had to finally admit defeat after Yongsun challenged her again and again.   “You’re such a lightweight,” Yongsun teased to which Byulyi snorted.   “Anybody would eventually lose after eight rounds of playing the same game.”   “Not me,” Yongsun took another sip, “I pulled through to the end.”   “You know,” Byulyi took the water bottle from Yongsun’s hand, the other hand getting a feel of Yongsun’s toned stomach, “I know another activity where I can go for rounds until you pass out.”   “No. We stink and I’m craving for some chicken now.”   Byulyi groaned when Yongsun wriggled away from her arms to order a lunch. Honestly, her muscles were sore after almost twenty-four hours with Yongsun. She didn’t want to admit this, but the older woman was obviously on another level when it comes to stamina. Maybe hitting the gym every once in a while would be better to keep up, Byulyi thought, her eyes locked in on Yongsun’s back.   Her thoughts were broken when a familiar ringtone sounded. “That’s your phone, Yong,” she said, grabbing for her own to check her notifications. She hadn’t heard from Wheein or Hyejin since the day before and made a point to check on her friends then.   Right before she contacted Wheein, Yongsun took a seat beside her, visibly annoyed. “You can’t do this to me, Jae. Can’t we just discuss this on Monday, at a time when people actually work?”   Yongsun huffed, rubbing her sweaty face. Byulyi knew she was on the phone with her audio engineer, Jaehyuk, whom Yongsun worked with. The phone call seemed to be some kind of work emergency that happened in the most inconvenient timing – on a weekend where they’re supposed to spend together. When the call ended, she took Yongsun’s free hand and tangled it with hers as a means to comfort her. She didn’t need to say anything; a kiss on the back of Yongsun’s hand would calm her down.   “The Devil is onto me,” Yongsun said when she felt a kiss on her hand, “he demands a video conference with me and Jaehyuk tonight.”   Yongsun was referring to Richard Kim, who was, according to Yongsun and the rest of the employees in his office, a devil in a human form. The middle-aged boss was far from being ugly; with a face like Lee Byunghun, he could transition into an actor and would be a successful one at that. It was his behavior toward his employees that earned the nickname. As an aspiring producer who was earning the respect from her peers, Yongsun was on his radar.   “I was really craving for some bulgogi though, guess that won’t happen tonight…”   Yongsun was dejected that her weekend was ruined, and Byulyi shared the sentiment. She pulled her in a sideway hug, thumb tracing circles on Yongsun’s shoulder. “We can have some tomorrow if you’d like.”   “We can’t come home late tomorrow, you’ll have an early flight on Monday,” Yongsun whined against the younger woman’s shoulder.   “I don’t mind coming home a little late. I can have a short nap on my flight.”   “But… tomorrow night we need to…”   Instead of continuing her sentence, Yongsun snuggled closer to Byulyi, the tips of her ear flaring red. Byulyi knew what she meant and just laughed it off. It seemed that the previous night was still not enough. “Like I said, I don’t mind sleeping late.”   Yongsun responded with a hum against Byulyi’s neck. Instead of ordering some chicken and going out for some bulgogi later, she would have to arrange the meeting. It wouldn’t be so bad as long as Byulyi was there. “I’m gonna call Jaehyuk.”   While Yongsun was making the arrangement, Byulyi took the time to call her precious human-sized puppy. She heard the familiar voice after the third ring.   “Hello?”   “Wheepup! How are you?”   “Look who’s finally taking her head out of her girlfriend’s legs.”   Ouch. “Jung Wheein, is that your way of greeting your unnie?”   “And is this your way of saying ‘I miss you’ to your favorite dongsaeng? Cause I’m not getting any indication of it.”   Byulyi cackled. She kind of missed how Hyejin’s sassiness had rubbed on Wheein. “I miss you too Wheepup. How are things on your end?”   “Unnie, are we in this kind of relationship where we would call each other every once in a while to catch up?”   “Then what do you have in mind, pray tell?”   There was a pause and a hum, followed by, “Grilled pork belly and soju sound great.”   “Let’s do it tonight and I’m in.”   “Tonight?” Wheein’s voice sounded dumbfounded for a second, there was some rustling, until she said, “Okay. You’re buying.”   “Damn it,” Byulyi cursed under her breath, “Alright, I’ll see you in a bit.”   “Are you going out?”   “Jesus!” Byulyi held her chest, shocked that Yongsun was suddenly standing beside her, “Don’t sneak up on me like that!”   “It’s Yongsun, not Jesus,” Yongsun crossed her arms in front of her chest, her tone nowhere near amused. “Did you just plan on going out tonight?”   That sarcasm was funny, but the tone in Yongsun’s voice scared Byulyi a bit. “Yeah, I’m gonna go out with Wheein.”   “Why?”   “Why?” Byulyi was confused, “Umm because I haven’t met her for a while?” Well, that came out more like a question.   “So have I, but why tonight?” Yongsun probed.   “Because you’re gonna have a meeting here?”   “It’s a video conference. And you won’t be in it.”   Byulyi frowned. It’s not like I want to be in it. “Exactly. You’ll be video-conferencing so it’s best that I’m out of here. So you can concentrate on your work?”   “You said you’ll have me this weekend. The second you know I’m not ‘fun’ anymore, you’re bailing out on me?”   Whoa, that escalated quickly. “Yes, I did say that we’ll be together for the weekend, but that was before your work emergency came up.”   “It’s not like I planned this to happen!” Yongsun stomped her feet, making her way toward Byulyi’s bedroom.   “I nev

Chapter 2: Oh god that Nintendo Switch section trolled the hell outta me LOL i was so eager for a second XD

but i love how they have these tiny petty fights. it makes sense how yongsun would want to spend so much time with byul, considering byul had disappeared for years. yongdonnie must have been so lonely :((

overall, super cute and realistic!! loving how their relationship progresses. every longterm couple needs to fight about space. <3
