Joy's grip on her skirt tightens. He has not said anything after telling her to sit. He is now gawking at her with his arms crossed. He sips his coffee and gets up, only to come back with her reports that was on his bed. He begins to go through her papers and drinks.

Joy tries to regulate her breathing. She knows what she wants to do and nothing can change that...She is prepared to bear every consequence for her decision...

She touches her stomach and keeps her hand there protectively.

Her action does not go unnoticed by Namjoon who has turned his attention back on her from her file.

"9 weeks, huh?" His sudden words startles her. "So I guess it was the night of that entrepreneurs' conference-party..." He can remember it clearly. He was a bit inebriated and he forgot to use protection...He pinches the bridge of his nose, groaning. How could he be so careless?!

"You were not on pills?" 

He frowns when she shakes her head in"no".

"But you had once said you were..." He asks. The accusation in his tone is clear.

"I...I was. But was not at that time...you had not 'called' me for quite sometimes so I forgot to get them..."

"What about the emergency ones?" He is getting agitated now.

"I had taken one but I guess I was late. I had planned to get them first thing in the morning but that incident with Bae Jace and Aera distracted me badly...I took it the next day. The doctor said it works 75% of the times if taken even after 24 hours..."

"...But you fell in the 25% category?" He snorts.

Joy, instead of lowering her head, nods. She is quite proud of herself to reply to him without any fumble or tears.

Namjoon shakes his head and sighs. He cannot even blame her now. He knows that she is not lying about the pills. He actually had not 'called' her to his bed for a month. And he has to agree that the incident with Jace and his daughter was reasonable enough. He makes sure that his face does not mirror his troubled mind. 

"So what have you decided?" He asks after a long time. He glances at the clock on the wall. It seems he'll be late for work today.

"Sorry?" Joy holds the eye-contact. 

"I said what have you decided? About..." He gestures towards her stomach with his eyes.

"I AM HAVING THE BABY." She replies with no fright.

He quirks his eyebrows at her confidence. His silence gives Joy her chance to tell more...

"Any 'other option' is out of question. Whatever 'mistake' and 'forgetful' things WE did, is not the baby's fault, will never be..."

"Really? So then how are you going to... take care of it in the future?" He asks coolly after some more interval.

"That depends on YOU..." Joy slowly rubs her stomach.

"What?!" Namjoon frowns in shock and confusion. 

Joy wants to laugh at his expression but has developed a better judgement, not to...

"I am having this baby. You may not want me to so you can let me stay here with it or LET ME GO... Because I'm not giving up on it!! "

"Oh! So here I've to make a decision?" He smirks.

Joy sighs, rubbing her eyes tiredly, "Yes."

"So if I want you to stay here I'll have to allow the baby...and if not..."

"...YOU CAN DIVORCE ME." Joy completes for him.

He stiffens. "Excuse me?!"

"Obviously you cannot just ask me to leave...You have to severe the only TIE...sorry...CONTRACT between us if you actually want to stay away from the child. Don't worry I'll not ask for anything...not for the baby, not for me. I know it how it feels to live on alms...hehehehe... I am still living now..." She laughs with disdain.

Namjoon gulps slightly and looks away. It is something he knows very well too...

" But what hurts even more is that if you are getting your rights in form of alms...People like that, do not form much self esteem and always suffer from inferiority complex. They may have all the comforts of life but every second they are reminded that those things given to them are donations...especially it kills one slowly if one's own father is doing the charity..." She shudders in attempt to not sob infront of him.

Namjoon looks back at the girl infront of him. She has said something like this to him once during their "courtship". At that time he thought she was telling such things at the spur of the moment as he had just shared a horrible experience from his childhood. Like why anyone would have any problem with wealth?! Isn't that what makes one happy?! Isn't that why Irene left him and went to Seokjin?! But now it seems her father's behaviour always affected her, agonized her badly.

"...I don't want that for my child...I may not be able to provide very well but at least he or she will know their mother loved them enough to stop being helpless..." She looks away to wipe her tears.

"And if  you stay here then..." Namjoon has finally found his voice.

"Still we won't be a burden!! You don't have to pay for anything...things will go on as they are...But I'll have to take up a job for the baby. Don't worry...I am already indebt to you for paying and letting me study. I know I am not the smartest one but I can work really well with children...Aera's teachers and her friends' mothers told me so...I'll manage everything. I've Aunty Noel and Aunty Cheonsa to guide me...but if you want me here, you'll have to let me work...outside..." Her tone testifies her resolution.

Namjoon is...stunned. He had not expected such stern argument from her. No sort of reasoning at all to be honest. He thought she would cry and may be even beg for its life and livelyhood....

Yes. He knew that she would never think to get rid of the baby. He has witnessed her with that Jace's daughter, Aera. How much she cares and loves that little girl... who has no relation with her... And here they are talking about her own child?! But what he did not expect was her unfazed words and challenging attitude...

"I will apologize for my blunt and rude behaviour. But there is no other choice. God willing, I am giving birth to this child. But where, that is up to YOU..." She rests her case. 

"Fine then. Stay here and have yo-the baby..." He says after a long time.

"So I can work?!" She looks excited.

"No! I mean you don't need to..." He gets up to gather his clothes.

"But..." She walks towards him, urgently.

"YOU DON'T NEED TO... NOTHING CHANGES. THE BABY WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF...AS A PAYMENT TO YOUR SERVICE...BUT YOU ARE NOT GETTING A DIVORCE... YOU'LL HAVE THE BABY OR NOT, THAT'S YOUR CALL... " He leaves her as he walks to the washroom to get ready for office. 

He comes out to find her still standing at the place where he left her 15 minutes ago.

"You're still here?" He asks, confused.

"You did not ask me to...also you did not have your breakfast...Shall I get for you?" She asks looking at him.

Namjoon frowns. There are visible differences between the Park SooYoung he saw yesterday and The Park SooYoung he has been talking to today...no. Morelike The Park Sooyoung talking to him this morning...  

He shakes his head,"No. I am already late..."

Joy checks the time,"So I will pack up a breakfast-box along with the lunch one...will take a minute...I'll go right away..." She is quickly walking out when...

"It is astounding to know your THIS NEW SIDE..." His mind becomes audible before he can put a halt on it.

Joy's hand freezes on the door knob. She turns to him and keeping her face controlled, replies, "Motherhood does that to one..." She leaves.
