Chapter Nine

“Are you an idiot? Why are you going out without your winter jacket?” His voice wakes me up and I place my clenched fists on his chest, almost pushing him away but he didn’t let go.

I clear my throat and makes sure I will not look at him, “I was following you. I heard the bell and I know that it’s one of the missing souls. I should be following you, right? We have to catch that soul.”

Sehun frowns, “At least wear something warm before following me behind. I lost him already. At least, I know what he looks like now. It’ll be easier to find him.”

I feel bad. Because of me we lost one soul. It’s so hard to find one in a big city like this/

“Are you still cold? You can have my coat.” He has a soft yet deep comforting voice. He’s still holding me, but I know he’s just doing all these because he thinks that it’s the right thing to do. That he just simply cares and if some other girl is in my shoes, he’d definitely do it too. I’m not special. He’s not doing it because he’s sweet or to make my heart flutter, yet my heart is jumping in joy.

Wake up, Ha Eun. This Death God is just purely nice and naïve. He has no feelings.

“Let go.” I firmly said.

“Let’s go back to the café and I’ll wait till you finish your work. I’ll talk with my colleagues here so I could find him again-“

“I said let go of me!” I yell and he is taken aback because I just cut him off. This can’t continue. He can’t continue making my heart flutter and doing things as if he likes me. He’s a Death God. He’s not a human, he won’t ever fall in love and he will leave in the end. And this is just too early for that. I’m only feeling these because this is the first time someone does these things to me.

This is the first time and I need to wake up from all of these.

And we barely know each other.”  I sigh, “Let’s go back.” I start walking as fast as I can to the café. It’s so cold I can’t think of anything right now.

I just want to go home and rest.
