“Are you sure this is all you need?” Jongin asked, lifting up her bags. He remembered that she used to have a lot more stuff when she came back from college.
She looked stressed, and for good reason. Jongin lifted her bags into Chanyeol’s trunk, trying to stay calm, but in reality he was running on adrenaline too. Kyungsoo poked his head out of the car, “Are we good?”
Chaeyeon took a deep breath and nodded, but Jongin knew that look. She was second guessing herself. She turned back to the house with a somber look on her face and whispered, “Am I doing the right thing?”
“I don’t know,” Jongin murmured back. Because he didn’t know. But if she decided that this was what she wanted, he would help her.
“They’re going to lose another daughter,” Chaeyeon’s face fell, and she covered with her hand. “It’s going to break them.”
“Look at me,” Jongin moved in front of her view. “They can still contact you. You’re not breaking off contact, and you’re leaving so they don’t get into legal trouble.”
But he wasn’t going to push her. It was her decision and her decision alone.
“I’m leaving everything behind,” She whispered, eyes watering. “Everything. Tomorrow I’m walking into work and giving my resignation letter. Should I take all of this back? Maybe I’m being—”
She was cut off by the sound of another car pulling up, and it rolled to a stop. Jongin froze when he saw Chaeyeon’s parents get out. Her father looked stern, “What’s going on?”
She opened , “I—”
“You have work tomorrow,” Her father cut her off. “How are you going to rise if you don’t take care of yourself?”
Jongin felt anger starting to bubble at the pit of his stomach,
