It felt just like yesterday when his father struck him hard against the cheek when he dared to challenge him.  A smirk graced his lips and the bitter feeling returned. If anything, he promised himself to be better than his father. Sometimes he was glad the old man was dead, but today he wished he would have lived to see this moment. The shiny, new golden nameplate engraved with dark, bolded words of C.E.O. Byun Baekhyun sat perfectly centered in front of his very own mahogany desk. All were to replace the late CEO, his father. The memory was still seared in his mind. It was always about Oh Sehun, but from now on, it was about him. Three years later, he finally held the papers he had memorized like the back of his hand.

Baekhyun sat comfortably in his desk chair as he inscribed his signature on the papers in approval. His eyebrows furrowed every so often in concentration. He was declared in charge. He had finally caught up to his dreams and stole the rightful position his father hid away from him. With this position, also came a heavy burden. Although on top of the chain, he felt constantly dragged back down to where he started.

Problems were constantly arising. People were demanding. And, his wife, Kim Hana--or more like Byun Hana. His wife. The phrase was still foreign, and he wasn’t sure if he even liked it to begin with.

“Sir?” Mr. Kim, his personal secretary allowed himself inside, interrupting him.

Baekhyun stopped in the middle of reviewing a document and set down his pen. He removed his spectacles and let out a deep sigh.

“Sorry to interrupt you, but there is a problem on the site that might need your attention right now.”

CEO Byun raised his eyebrows in interest.

“Is that so?” He fixed his silver Rolex and checked the time. “How much longer until my appointment with Minji?”

“It’s been canceled, sir.”

“By the lady herself?”

“No, sir. At your wife’s discretion.”

He leaned back and let the words roll over in his head. At your wife’s discretion. A smirk formed. When did she think she could interfere with his personal affairs?

“I’ll be at the site then. Please cancel the meeting for today in case I don’t make it back on time.”

“Yes, sir,” Mr. Kim quickly confirmed.

Baekhyun made his way around his desk as he stretched his weariness away and grabbed his jacket.

“And, you’re fired. Have a nice evening,” he slipped on his jacket and left without looking back.

He had considered contacting Minji before reaching the site, but Minji had once again beaten him to his problems. She was there for him always when he didn’t know what to do. And, for the past three years, she has been his pillar, his rock. Even before that when he struggled to find a place amongst the elite society as the bastard son, Minji was the first to approach him.

“You have to leave room for the flower beds. I think right here would be a perfect spot,” Minji argued.

The mental image of the flowers blooming in her picked spot made her smile in satisfaction.

“We cannot just simply take out the corner of the building to place plants there,” Mr. Park, the site manager said.

He shook his head at the ignorant decision. His hands profusely pointed to the area. A simple look and one could tell he was frustrated with the situation. The vein in his temple bulged as he tried to explain how dangerously unstable the building would become.

“No, we need flowers. Flowers are there to make the building look distinctive so everyone who comes here will remember it well,” Minji explained. Her hands swept the air as she made a rectangular shape with her scrawny fingers and
