Picture 28: scars on my heart

Polaroid

Luhan woke up to an empty bed. Very rarely does he spend the night in Sehun's dorm.  It didn't matter that the two had been dating for almost three months, Luhan was still shy around his gorgeous boyfriend. The nights that Luhan did spend at Sehun's was filled with hugs, kisses and cuddles. Sehun barely let the smaller go. And in the morning Luhan would wake first and shuffle into the kitchen to make breakfast. Sehun would notice the empty bed and follow sleepily behind the pink haired male.
But this morning when Luhan rolled over, his hand hit the cold mattress instead of Sehun's warm body. Luhan sat up, pulling the blankets up to cover his exposed body. He bent down and grabbed the first item of clothing, which happened to be Sehun's sweatshirt. Luhan tugged it on along with a pair of shorts he had left last time he visited Sehun.

Luhan stood up, groggily rubbing one eye as he tried to think where Sehun would be. He finally caught sight of the male standing outside in his balcony. Luhan smiled softly and slowly slid the door open. If Sehun had heard him, he made no move to show that he did. Luhan hesitated before slowly wrapping his arms around Sehun's body, gently rubbing his hands over Sehun's washboard abs torso.

"Good morning love." Sehun said quietly. Luhan pecked the back of his shoulder, silently telling him 'good morning' as well.

Luhan moved next to Sehun, turning towards the male, "What are you doing?"

Sehun shrugged, looking out over the campus, "Thinking."

The wind picked up, causing Sehun and Luhan's hair to whip around crazily in the air. Sehun's loose shirt billowed in the wind, outlining his thin physique.

"What are you thinking about?"

Sehun shrugged again, "Stuff." He paused at looked at Luhan who was staring so whole heartedly at him, "You and me." He bent down and connected their lips in a feverish manner. Luhan turned completely to Sehun who grabbed his waist. With a gentle tug, Luhan was trapped against the railing but Sehun. The taller's arms on each side of Luhan, making him stuck in Sehun's embrace, not that he minded.

It was about to storm heavily. Luhan could smell the ozone in the air as the wind picked up. There was gentle thunder out in the distance, as if the storm was just waking up. The sky was an odd mixture of dark clouds and bright sunlight. The storm clouds were patchy and covered a small area. Luhan could seen the clear skies off in the distance. The contrast was gorgeous. Sehun nosed at Luhan's throat as the smaller looked up at the sky, mesmerized by its beauty.

"I think I want to tell you."

Luhan looked down, bringing himself to stare into Sehun's stormy eyes. Luhan noticed for the first time how much his eyes reflected the stormy skies above.

"Tell me what?"

Sehun sighed, resting his chin on Luhan's shoulder. Luhan couldn't help but smile as he hung onto Sehun, his hands grabbing onto the latter's sleeves as Sehun embraced him tightly.

"How much you mean to me." Sehun whispered, his lips ghosting over the shell of Luhan's ear. Luhan buried his face in the taller's chest but Sehun only chuckled and kept talking.  "I didn't know I would find someone. I had been hurt beyond repair when I was younger. My father, mother, Yixing...nothing made it any easier. I only wanted love."

Sehun hugged Luhan tighter.

"I was too weak to hold onto what I had. I lost it. But it made me realize that I wasn't cut out for love. So I didn't." Sehun pulled away. Luhan stood in front of him, his eyes flickering over the taller's face in confusion. Sehun dragged gentle fingers against Luhan's cheek, "Until I met you."

He smiled, "You made me realize how much I had to fight for someone. I stood up to Juni, to my father, Yixing...." Sehun paused, "I never had courage to do that in the past. But with you...it's a whole other story."

Luhan blinked back his tears. Sehun was looking at him with such adoring eyes. Luhan felt utterly loved.

"What I'm trying to say, is that without you, I wouldn't have been able to do any of that. You are my world and I would do anything to keep that brilliant smile on your face."

Sehun looked Luhan dead in the eye, "I love you."

And at that moment, Luhan realized that he loved Sehun. He loved him so much.

Chanyeol stuck his finger in the bowl, swiping a good amount of dough and chocolate chips before stuffing his finger in his mouth. He glanced at Kyungsoo who was washing the bowls they had used in their baking adventure.

"I see you baby boy, eating all that batter."

Chanyeol froze. Kyungsoo turned around, a smirk on his face as he wiped his hands with a towel, "You keep eating and we won't have enough to make an entire batch." Chanyeol just grinned sheepishly as he handed the bowl over to Kyungsoo. The shorter male took it, his smirk fading into a smile as he set the bowl aside. He opened his arms, "Aw come here."

Chanyeol grinned as he slid into Kyungsoo's embrace, "I love you Soo. I love you lots."

Kyungsoo grinned as he stood up on his toes, pecking the tall giant, "I know baby, I love you too." He pulled away and clapped his hands, "Now, let's get these babies into the oven and then take them over to Sehun and Luhan when they're done."

Chanyeol nodded and grabbed the bowl of cookie dough and started making cute shapes. Kyungsoo stuck with making the original cookie. In result, half the cookies were hearts and stars while the other half were circles. Chanyeol smiled, proud of his work. Kyungsoo just rolled his eyes and picked up the tray and slid it into the hot oven. Except he had forgotten to wear gloves so when his fingers accidentally brushed against the hot metal shelves, he let out a loud yell.

Chanyeol pulled him backwards and slammed the oven shut. He ran Kyungsoo's fingers under cold water while blowing lightly on the shorter's red fingers.

"Chanyeol I'm okay. It really doesn't hurt." Kyungsoo said as Chanyeol rummaged through the kitchen drawers. The brown haired male stopped his search and turned around. Kyungsoo held up his fingers which were only slightly pink from the sudden heat, "See! It's fine."

Chanyeol pouted but complied. He pressed kisses against the red fingers before pulling away, "Xiumin said Luhan spent the night at Sehun's."

Kyungsoo raised an eyebrow, "Oh." Chanyeol grimaced at the suggestive tone. He gently smacked Kyungsoo's arm, ", Luhan is an innocent soul."

Kyungsoo nodded, "Right..." he held out his hand, "Bet."

Chanyeol grinned, "Oh it's on."

The two played around until the cookies were done and waited for them to cool. Chanyeol packed them in a cute container and slipped into his shoes as Kyungsoo locked the door behind him. His dorm was in the same building at Sehun's, thanks to the latter's father. Chanyeol stopped in front of a door on the highest floor. Kyungsoo brought out his keys from his pocket and unlocked the door. He stuck his head in, "Hello?"
He didn't want to walk in on something. Chanyeol must have realized this and shoved Kyungsoo inside, "They aren't doing anything."

Kyungsoo frowned, "Nope, still think they are."

Chanyeol just rolled his eyes and collapsed on the couch. Sometimes Kyungsoo could be so silly. He opened the box and took out a heart shaped cookie. The treat in his hand was warm, fresh out of the oven. Chanyeol bit into it, quietly as the taste exploded in his mouth. Kyungsoo had always been an excellent baker. Kyungsoo sat down next to Chanyeol, grabbing a cookie of his own. They sat in silence. The sounds of a shower was echoing through the dorm. Chanyeol couldn't help but giggle as he stared at Kyungsoo.

The short male frowned, "What?"

Chanyeol shook his head, "Its just...you have chocolate-" he leaned over and kissed Kyungsoo's lips, effectively the chocolate off the latter's lips. Kyungsoo bit his bottom lip, shoving Chanyeol, "Who's the now?"

Chanyeol grinned, "Still you."

Kyungsoo was about to reply when the door to the bathroom opened. He was seated on the edge of the couch so he could into the hallway. Sehun stepped out, his hair wet and stuck to his forehead. Luhan was in his arms bridal style, flushed bright red as his pink hair, which was also wet, was pushed back

"You okay?" Sehun asked Luhan tenderly, not realizing the two intruders that were sitting on the couch. Chanyeol swore quietly as he pulled out his wallet, slapping a twenty in Kyungsoo's outstretched hand.

The sound of that startled the couple. Luhan let out a gasp as he hid his face in Sehun's chest. The taller male didn't look so flustered, but instead, he was glaring at Chanyeol and Kyungsoo.

Chanyeol held up the box meekly, "We brought cookies?"

Sehun sighed as he gently set Luhan down on the ground. The pink haired male walked slowly over to the couch before falling back onto the soft cushions. The sweatshirt he was wearing rode up his thighs as he stretched out towards Chanyeol. Sehun frowned and pulled the sweatshirt back down as Chanyeol handed Luhan a heart shaped cookie.

"I made that one myself." The brown haired male announced proudly. Luhan grinned and bit into it. He gasped.

Chanyeol looked at him, worried that the male wouldn't like the treat, "Lu? Does it taste okay?"

Luhan shoved the rest of the cookie in his mouth and launched at Chanyeol, hugging him tightly. The tall male let out a loud laugh as he embraced Luhan. Kyungsoo chuckled as well, "I think that's a yes."

Chanyeol and Kyungsoo left late at night. The four had spent time talking about everything and nothing. It had been a while since they've all spent quality time with each other. Luhan had missed his friends. Things have been a bit crazy lately but that didn't drive them apart. If anything, it brought them closer. Sehun's dorm seemed warmer than usual, filled with Chanyeol boisterous laughter and Kyungsoo's silky voice. Even Sehun seemed to be enjoying himself. His usually guarded expression was gone and he seemed relaxed.

He didn't talk as much as the others (Luhan didn't physically speak but he contributed to the conversation, Sehun just translated). Instead he was laying back, watching Luhan carefully. He never had enough of the pink haired male. Every smile, every expression...it was like a drug to Sehun. He craved it.

After Kyungsoo and Chanyeol left, the two retired to bed. This was the first time Luhan stayed for two nights in a row. He had offered to leave because Luhan understood that Sehun needed his alone time sometimes but the black haired male refused. He needed to tell Luhan something, something very important.

So there they laid, staring up at the ceiling in the dark. The curtains were drawn open and the lights from the street lights and other buildings reflected through the glass doors. The light was spotted like stars against the dark ceiling. It was like their personal galaxy.

Luhan had his head resting on Sehun's shoulder, their hands tightly intertwined as Sehun hummed lowly. The black haired male almost never hummed and when he did, it was a pleasant treat for Luhan.

"Aren't you curious?" Sehun finally spoke up. Luhan lifted his arms in the air so Sehun could see what he was signing.

"Depends. I'm curious about many things but I love you too much to ask."

Sehun frowned, "If you love me, isn't that more of a reason to ask?"

"I trust you Sehun. In your own time, at your own pace, you'll come to me."

Sehun let out a scoff, "You know me better than I know myself."

"I can say the same thing about you."

Sehun sighed, "We really are something aren't we?"

Luhan nodded.

Sehun cleared his throat, "About Yixing....I know I seem like the bad guy but I have my reasons."

Luhan opened his eyes, suddenly very awake. His mind was racing. Was Sehun finally telling him about his past? Luhan had been waiting for so long. He had asked Kyungsoo, because clearly, the brown haired male knew Sehun the longest. But all he got was a sad shake of the head.

"Its best not to ask."  That's what Kyungsoo had said. But Kyungsoo did say one thing. That Sehun hadn't always been so cooped up and guarded. There was once a time where he was as free and wild as Jongin. Socializing and partying like there was no tomorrow. This made Luhan even more desperate to know what had happened.

"My dad hid us from each other. He thought we wouldn't get along."

Sehun continued talking.

"He was right. We finally met in ninth grade, high school. Everything was a competition to Yixing. Who had more friends? Who had better grades? Who slept around more?"

Luhan looked up at Sehun who refused to meet his gaze.

"I hated him. He seemed like the better version of me, and my dad liked him more. But I was the one stuck with the responsibilities while he roamed free."

Luhan squeezed Sehun's hand supportively.

"I had one thing Yixing didn't. Mia."

Luhan frowned, mouthing the name to himself.

Mia.

"She was a an exchange student. Her parents were Korean but she was born in America. I met her when I was fifteen, sixteen? She was.... my first love."

Sehun laughed bitterly, "I thought she would be my only love."

Luhan gulped. It pained him to ask but he did, "What happened?"

Sehun bit his upper lip, a nervous tick that Luhan had picked up on, "Yixing. He found out I was messing around with a girl I shouldn't be near. My dad is all 14th century. We were from different social classes. Yixing pretended to be her friend and then ratted her out. He couldn't bear to see me so happy."

Sehun paused and Luhan could see small tears forming in his eyes.

"My dad made her disappear. The day after I gave her..." Sehun paused and tried to word it differently, "Our first night. I thought I could be anything at that moment. I woke up, there was a note on the side of my bed. I searched for her everywhere but I never found her."

Luhan couldn't even imagine how that must have felt. Being so young and having your first love ripped away from you like that? It was inhumane.

"I never met anyone like her....until you. Everyone else wanted my money or my status but you? You just wanted to see me smile."

Luhan knew Sehun was over Mia, the male hadn't seen her in five years but Sehun was still caught up over the idea of her. The hole that she had left behind in Sehun's heart. Luhan understood why Sehun was so reluctant to trust people and why it took so long, almost three weeks to get a single word out of the taller male. He was only afraid of being hurt again.

Luhan turned to his side, holding Sehun gingerly as the tall let out the tears that he pent up over the years. Luhan was heartbroken to see Sehun like this but he vowed to himself, he was going to fix the cuts and scars etched in the latter's heart.

Luhan was going to show Sehun that it was okay to trust, that it was okay to love.

The two laid there in the dark, listening to the white noise of the campus at night. Intertwined together in a way no one could separate. Their hearts reached out for one another.

Luhan held him tight. Sehun was at his lowest but that was alright. Luhan was here to build him back up.
