A Vestige of the Seasons
Description
“A true lady loves all of her subjects.” As her lord brother’s betrothed, her family’s ward, and her lady-in-waiting; Joohyun wonders if this kind of love should feel like an incessant ache of longing in her chest whenever she gazes upon Seulgi.
Foreword
She closes her eyes, and she hears nothing but the wind and her innermost wishes to be comfortable.
She doesn’t see the flurry of snow in front of her, or Jaehyun slouching in his seat, or the scroll being written down by the castle scribe as her father and Lord Kang converse about the terms and conditions that are to come with the alliance.
Most of all Joohyun does not see the girl—the one with the too sharp eyes, and the strange fur cloak—the one that she will soon learn to call by the name of Seulgi, openly gawk from her place between her two elder brothers at the sights around her; from the lit lanterns on the mahogany posts, to the rich silks the mainland lords wear, and finally, to the two younglings seated a little ways off to the side—prim and poised to perfection.
If she does see, Joohyun would wonder why she stares, when in fact, all the little girl can think of is that she has finally seen a real princess in her lifetime.
Disclaimer: I do not own Red Velvet. This story is made purely for entertainment purposes. Nujabes's Shiki no Uta and Who's Theme served as one of my many muses. I should warn you, this is not historically accurate (technicalities included), the idea borne only from reading the A Song of Ice and Fire series, and cementing it when watching Samurai Champloo.
