Abstract Feelings In A Painting
Boys Over Flower 2“Huh?” All the Year 1 class 3 students were devastated.
They were in the Art Room with their Art Teacher. The teacher told them that they will be having a project and that it would be another painting but this time they would do it by pair.
“I don’t understand, teacher.” Suhyun asked. “Do you mean like the last time?” She added.
“Not exactly.” The teacher answered, making everyone more confuse. “This time, you will again work with your past partners but instead of painting your own painting, you will work on the same painting this time.” The teacher finished and Chan Woo suddenly turned towards Hayi nervously.
Since the day of the Cafeteria incident, Chan Woo felt awkward whenever he’s around with Hayi. He felt somehow guilty after seeing Hayi get hurt. He knew that it was Yoo Jung’s fault but he also thought that Yoo Jung might’ve just been caught in the moment and did that so he let the matter go.
“What?” Everyone turned to see Bobby standing from his chair. “Umm.. I mean, why not work with a different partner this time, teacher?” Bobby recovered after his embarrassing interruption and Suhyun threw him a glare.
Suhyun knew for quite a long time that Bobby likes Hayi and it made her bitterer. She couldn’t shake the feeling of jealousy towards her friend but she couldn’t blame her at the same time. Hayi sure was dumb but she was a very good friend for Suhyun and she was very thankful for that.
“I have actually considered that.” The teacher said and Bobby lit up. “But I believe the past pairings would do better since they have actually shared a moment with painting.” The teacher finished and Bobby sighed in frustration.
The teacher told them to work on an abstract painting this time and the teacher also told them to express their feelings on it. The painting must contain what they feel about a certain person in their life whether it was hate, love, etc. After giving the instructions, the teacher left them to work on their painting to the place of their liking and almost all the students started to walk out from the class room in pairs.
“So, shall we go too?” Hayi asked, making Chan Woo flinch beside her.
“Huh? Ah, okay.” Chan Woo answered nervously.
The both of them went out from the class room together and Bobby couldn’t help himself from glaring at Chan Woo while Suhyun was just shaking her head at Bobby’s expression.
“Of all people, why that Kang Chan Woo? Aissh.” Bobby mumbled.
“Yah! Are you really that disappointed being paired with me?” Suhyun accused and Bobby felt guilty.
“No! Not at all.” Bobby quickly answered. “It’s just that..” Bobby was thinking of an excuse.
“I know.” Suhyun stated and Bobby turned to her questioningly. “Geez.. I know that you like Hayi. I’m not dumb to actually figure that out.” Suhyun added, rolling her eyes at him.
“Really?” Bobby began to feel awkward. “How long?” Bobby suddenly asked after the long silence and Suhyun looked confuse. “I mean, how long did you know?” He answered her unspoken question.
“Let me see..” Suhyun paused, remembering. “Since Hayi told me during the school camp?” Suhyun recalled.
“What? Hayi told you?” Bobby was shock and his face started to turn red in embarrassment.
“Yep.” Suhyun simply answered. “And you know what?” Suhyun continued and Bobby turned to her with curiosity. “Hayi actually misunderstood you.” She finished and Bobby knitted his eyebrows in confusion.
“Misunderstood me? What do you mean?” Bobby asked desperately.
“Knowing Hayi, you shouldn’t be surprised at all.” Suhyun exclaimed and Bobby was still looking at her desperately, making Suhyun sigh in frustration. “For Hayi, LIKING means NOT HATING and NOT LIKING means HATING.” Suhyun explained but Bobby was still knitting his eyebrows. “Arghhh! You’re hopeless! It means that your confession was in vain! She simply thinks until now that you don’t hate her. That’s all! Nothing else.” Suhyun shouted.
After hearing Suhyun, Bobby became dumbfounded. He recalled all that happened in the past. He remembered the conversation he had with Suhyun where Hayi had heard: “You like Hayi, right?” –Suhyun. “Of ourse NOT!” –Bobby. He then remembered his conversation with Hayi on the boat during their camp: “I get it. You HATE me.” –Hayi.
“!” Bobby cursed, realizing.
“Omo.. Watch your mouth, will you? Such vulgar words.” Suhyun was now fanning her face, hearing Bobby curse for the first time. “So I guess you finally understand what I’m saying?” Suhyun asked right after.
“I should talk to her.” Bobby stood up and was about to leave but Suhyun grabbed his arms, stopping him.
Suhyun didn’t know why she did that. She unconsciously stopped Bobby from leaving her. When Bobby turned to her, she felt her eyes getting hot and her face started to get red. Bobby was now aware of Suhyun’s unusual expression.
“What is it?” Bobby knelt facing Suhyun who was silently sitting on her seat.
Hayi and Chan Woo decided to paint at the school playground. They were sitting on the swings silently. Hayi was rummaging through her bag while Chan Woo kept on glancing at Hayi secretly.
“I must have forgotten my pencil case in the Art Room.” Hayi thought.
“What’s wrong?” Chan Woo asked after seeing Hayi’s troubled expression.
“I forgot something in the Art Room.” Hayi answered, standing up. “I’ll be right back.” And she left, running.
Chan Woo felt stupid for being so nervous around Hayi. He started to curse his self for being coward and not able to apologize to her about what happened at the cafeteria. He didn’t like what he was feeling at that moment. He didn’t like the fact that he likes her but unable to express his self to her.
“I have to do something.” Chan Woo decided and ran after Hayi.
Chan Woo was almost at the Art Room but he stopped running after he saw Hayi walking towards him. He noticed that she was spaced out and didn’t even notice him when she was already in front of him. She continued walking away from the Art Room, passing him. Chan Woo started to wonder what made Hayi like that so he peeked inside the Art Room and was surprise by what he saw and immediately walked away, following Hayi.
“Bobby was hugging Suhyun.. Was it true? Or my mind was just playing tricks with my eyes.” Chan Woo was dumbfounded. “Hayi..” Chan Woo suddenly remembered and doubled his speed and kept on chasing after Hayi.
There were already back at the playground when Chan Woo finally caught up with her. Hayi was still walking until Chan Woo finally was able to catch her hand, stopping her from her track.
“Soo Hayi..” This time, Chan Woo turned her around, facing him and became shock after seeing the tears that was falling down from Hayi’s eyes. “Are you okay? Are you sick?” Chan Woo was worried.
“Huh?” Hayi was still spacing out. “What do you mean?” She added.
“You’re crying..” Chan Woo told her.
“Really? I didn’t know.” Hayi automatically reach out to her face, feeling the tears that were flowing.
Hayi started to wipe the tears while Chan Woo was still staring at her intently. He was heartbroken for her. He somehow knew that Hayi has feelings for Bobby but she wasn’t still able to figure it out herself. Seeing Hayi like that, Chan Woo finally decided on something and he felt a slight sting in his heart on what he was about to do.
“Hayi-ah..” Chan Woo started and caught Hayi’s hand once more. “Listen to me.” Chan Woo lead them towards the swings and made her sit. “Do you know the reason why you cried just now?” He asked.
“I.. I don’t know.” Hayi an
