The Amazing Race
Boys Over Flower 2All the students were now huddled around their teachers in an open area at their camp. They were grouped together with their teams and they were murmuring with each other excitedly about the race.
“Before we start the race, let me explain to you the rules for this game.” Teacher Jung started and all the students stopped murmuring. “For this Amazing Race, there will be five stations. Three of these stations will be guarded by us, your teachers while the other two will have none. Each team must contain an envelope containing the clues and the puzzle pieces.” Teacher Jung continued and the students started to murmur again, hearing the ‘puzzle pieces’.
“Quiet!” Teacher Lee demanded and the students stopped talking. “In each station, you must contain ten puzzle pieces for you to continue to the next station. But be reminded that you will have to face some obstacles before reaching the next stations and also, for the stations that we will be guarding, you will have to do something we will tell you to do. For the station that has none, you will have to find the envelope containing the clues yourselves.” He added.
“Please note that this game is also a school activity. Anyone who completes this race will automatically receive an A on their extracurricular activities.” Teacher Yoo declared and every one cheered after hearing the good news.
The teachers gave the students 15 minutes to prepare for the race. Some of the students became fired up for the game, knowing that they’ll receive an A for their extracurricular activities but some of the students still felt hesitant about this game, not knowing what they’ll have to face. After 15 minutes exactly, the students heard a shot fired somewhere, signalling them to start the race. At first, all of them just stared at each other, not knowing what to do exactly but So Hyun suddenly stood from where she was sitting, making everyone flinch and stare at her.
“Let’s head out.” So Hyun stated and started to head for the river and her teammates followed her.
Just before the teachers left them, they instructed them to head to the river for their first station. After So Hyun left with her team, all the other teams suddenly remembered what the teachers instructed and started to move out too. Chan Hyuk and his team was the first to follow So Hyun, followed by Yoo Jung’s team.
“Aisshh.. We can’t lose to that Gu So Hyun.” Yoo Jung stated. “Did anyone get that? We better win this race.” Yoo Jung turned to her team and they all nodded except Dong Hyuk who obviously didn’t care.
At the first station:
“What the hell?” Lalisa exclaimed.
Before reaching the first station, the students have to cross the river. Seeing this obstacle, Lalisa, Peniel and Minhyuk started to complain. They’ll have to cross the river after all by stepping on the rocks which they tried to avoid before.
“No time to complain. Someone’s coming.” So Hyun interrupted, looking behind them.
Chan Hyuk’s team was nearing them and So Hyun and her team started to cross. Minhyuk and Peniel went to help Lalisa by grabbing both of her hands. Minhyuk went to cross first, followed by Lalisa and then Peniel. They crossed hand in hand and So Hyun started to follow them but she was having a hard time stepping on the slippery rocks.
“Aisshh. These freaking rocks! Why are they so slippery?” So Hyun complained inside her head but continued on stepping on the rocks anyway but her foot slipped again. “Crap! Not again!” So Hyun exclaimed desperately.
So Hyun was so sure that she’ll fall in the water but someone had grabbed her arm again. When she looked up, she saw Joo Hyuk, breathing hard and his eyes were wide open, searching her for some injuries.
“You okay?” Joo Hyuk asked. “Seriously, why are you so clumsy?” He added and So Hyun threw him a glare.
“I’m fine.” So Hyun simply answered and tried to tug her arms away but Joo Hyuk didn’t let go.
“Let me hold your hand at least. It’s too slippery.” Joo Hyuk demanded, looking at her seriously.
So Hyun wasn’t sure about what to answer. Somehow, she felt safe whenever Joo Hyuk holds her but someone’s telling her to avoid him. Seeing Joo Hyuk’s desperate look, she decided to let him hold her hand.
“Fine.” So Hyun finally agreed making Joo Hyuk smile.
They crossed the river while holding hands. As soon as they arrived, the three of their teammates threw them their suspicious looks but they decided to ignore them and focus on the task at hand.
“Congratulations on crossing over.” Teacher Yoo greeted. “Now, shall we begin your first task?” She continued and gestured to the glasses of mixed vegetable shake on the table. “Anyone from your team can drink this and give me at least three ingredients I used on this shake. You have to write your answers on a paper.” The teacher stated.
“What? You mean there are more than 3 ingredients on that shake?” Peniel exclaimed and shivered.
“Yup. So, who’s going to try?” Teacher Yoo asked.
“Uh-uh. Not me. That shake looks like poisonous to me.” Minhyuk commented and the teacher glared at him.
“If someone has to do it, I believe the team leader would be the best suited for it.” Lalisa suggested.
Hearing her teammates’ remarks, So Hyun immediately stared back at them and she noticed that they were all looking at her expectantly. So Hyun looked back at the glass of shake on the table and started to shiver. She could tell that the shake has an awful taste and would definitely make her puke but she couldn’t let her teammates down. She took a glass and was about to drink it but Joo Hyuk grabbed her hand, stopping her.
“I’ll do it.” Joo Hyuk exclaimed, taking the glass from So Hyun and took a sip.
As soon as he finished tasting, he made a face that no one had ever seen before. His face started to turn green and he looked like he’s going to be sick but held it in. His other team members were terrified, seeing him like that but they were distracted by the sudden arrival of Chan Hyuk’s team.
“Teacher! What do we have to do?” Chan Hyuk asked, breathing heavily.
So Hyun noticed that some of his team members were soaking wet. They might have fallen in the water while crossing the river. She also noticed that Sung Jae was glaring at Joo Hyuk like he’s about to lunge himself at him. The teacher told Chan Hyuk and his team on what to do but after seeing Joo Hyuk, no one volunteered to drink the shake.
“Can’t we just guess? I mean, do we really have to taste that?” Chan Hyuk asked, pleading.
“No you can’t. Look at Joo Hyuk. He actually drank it so you also have to do it.” Teacher Yoo said.
“Teacher, that’s exactly why we don’t want to drink that. Just look at Joo Hyuk! He’s barely alive!” Jin Hwan commented, looking very terrified and the teacher threw him a criticizing look.
After writing down their answers, Joo Hyuk gave it to the teacher and Teacher Yoo gave them the envelope containing the puzzle pieces and the clue to where they would go next. After receiving the envelope, they immediately took off.
“Uhmm..” So Hyun started to talk to Joo Hyuk and he turned to her. “Thanks. For drinking that stuff in my stead.” She finished, making him light up and they continued on walking towards the next station.
After a while, Chan Hyuk decided to drink the shake himself since he was the leader but as soon as he drank it, he ran towards the river and started to throw up. Eventually, he guessed the three ingredients correctly and went to the next station. This time, Yoo Jung’s team and Bobby’s team were the ones who got stuck on the first station. Yoo Jung’s team didn’t dare to drink the shake just by looking at it and so did Bobby’s team.
“Yah, we’re being left out by the other teams. Someone should just take a sip and get it over with.” Miyeon exclaimed, staring at her team.
