The phone rang twice on the loudspeaker, and Kyungsoo gave Luhan a scared look.

"Wait," Luhan said, "I'm sure they'll answer."

"But who is it?" Kyungsoo asked whispering scared that the person on the other side could pick the phone up at any time.

"Don't worry..."

"Hello?"

Even though Luhan knew who it was going to be, he still was shocked as much as Kyungsoo.

Voices don't change over time.

Kyungsoo sat frozen as he stared at the phone.

Luhan nudged him with the elbow and only then Kyungsoo made the decision to talk. If Luhan was doing it, there must be a reason for it.

"Hello," Kyungsoo said stuttering a bit.

"Soo?"

Kyungsoo's heart warmed up just at hearing Kai say his name.

"Kai?"

"I...I..." 

Kyungsoo heard the boy start to cry and near him, Luhan took his hand and squeezed it in encouragement.

"How are you, Kai?"

"I...You left..." Kai cried, "I thought I'll talk to you the next day and explain but...you..."

"Where's Taemin?" Kyungsoo asked. He just wanted to know if they still were in contact.

"Tae...Oh...Soo," Kai said, "You and Lu got it all wrong. If you had let me explained all this wouldn't have happened but..."

"But?"

"But I am a better person now," Kai said.

"A person who cheats can never be better," Kyungsoo said angrily, as a small tear fell down his cheek.

Luhan whispered that it would be fine.

"I didn't cheat though," Kai said.

"Yes, you-"

"Taemin has multiple personality disorder!" Kai almost shouted through the phone.
