Foreword

A simple life was something she had always yearned for but meeting that mysterious boy that year at her usual hiding place had messed up her ordinary life. She wished she had not into his problems then and it would have save her from a lot of miseries and heartaches. She thought that everything has ended when she buried that box of memories under that tree eight years ago and someday, she would get out from the darkness that she was trapped in. Little she did not know, the time was only stopped temporary and he would come back to her life once again.

“I am not marrying you,” she swung off his hand from hers, “don’t you think this is hilarious?”

“It is in fact very hilarious,” he put his hands into his pocket and said coldly, “eight years ago, you left me for money and eight years later, you are coming back to me for the same reason again, money.”

“Why did you agree to it so easily without even thinking twice, you hate me badly isn’t it?” her voice was quivering.

Grabbing hold on her hand with great pressure, his voice send chills down her spine, “you loved me when I couldn’t love myself anymore, when I don’t feel love exists. You walked into my life and made me see the world differently but in a short span of time; you took away everything and brought back to me the same old pain.” He glared at her, “if I can never feel love anymore, neither would I let you have happiness. I want you to regret for what you have done eight years ago.”

She shook her head, the tears that are blurring her eyes threatening to fall “I’m not agreeing to this.” She whirled around ready to walk away.

“Then you’ll just watch him die? You’re indeed still so heartless.”

“Stopped it, why would you gamble your own happiness just for revenge?”

He turned his head over his shoulder eyeing on his brother, the person who had contributed to their separation. “What right do you have to comment on this arrangement? You have no say at all,” he raised a brow, sarcastically looking at the younger man “furthermore, happiness this word doesn’t exists in my dictionary anymore. This was the biggest gift your mother had given me.”

“I never wanted to take anything that belongs to you from the Lu Family,” the younger man said in a low tone.

“I never see you as a rival or enemy either. There’s nothing that I want from the Lu Family,” he closed in their gap, “but your biggest mistake is that you eyed on my girl. That was exactly what your mother did to my mum.”

“Do you believe that she has stopped loving you?”

“You had helped her to hide everything from me, didn’t you?” he eyed hardly at him, “why would you ask such a question now.”

“Your love for her was not strong enough and you had allowed anything to come between.”

If loving someone means breathing, for her, it has stopped eight years ago. She regretted for having her heart softened after knowing his problems and entered his life creating so much pain for both of them.
