Very Cliché

Description

High school: ugh, where to start? How about the common scenario of one having crush on another. Very cliché, am I right? Well, this is exactly what Y/N thought.

Foreword

You were sitting in your class alone, as usual, with your earphones in, isolating yourself from humanity, when the teacher walked in signalling the lesson was about to start. You seated in one of the front rows, you liked your seat. Well, it could have been worse. Luckily, there are an odd number of students in your class so you were able to sit by yourself.

“So class,” Your teacher began “Today you’ll be completing yesterday’s worksheet that I handed out—and you’ll be doing that in silence.” She explained causing everyone to groan in I-can’t-be-bothered-ness.

Sighing, you pulled out your worksheet from your folder and resumed working through the questions on the sheet. Once your teacher was satisfied that the class would follow her orders, she turned her back and sat down on her rather comfy looking chair and began to swiftly move her fingers across the keyboard.

Not long after that, you began to hear whispers from the back of the classroom. You glanced over your shoulder to see where the whispers had been coming from: Hansol as well as Seungcheol who everyone just called S.Coups or Coups and Jisoo who most people called Joshua. In all honesty you weren’t surprised. They were always talking about something. You to admit, they were really cute especially Hansol. This caused you to have maybe just the slightest crush on him—okay, who were you kidding? You were actually head over heels for the guy. Though obviously, Miss Cliché just had to make this a common high school crush scenario where the girl thinks that her crush would never like her in return but turns out to be totally in love with her—hopefully. It was only just now that you realised that you had been staring at them. Trying to hide your blush, you turned back to your work while resisting the urge to facepalm yourself. However, when you glanced back at him, his eyes connected with yours and—

Abruptly, the teacher snapped her head up to glare at the class. Immediately, the whispering stopped and you returned back to your work. Once you were certain that your teacher wasn’t going to scold anyone, you turned back to Hansol who had a light smirk on his face. You chuckled and so did he.

The teacher turned around—again. Her line of vision landed on Hansol. “Hansol, move over there to the spare seat next to Y/N.” She ordered; her face mutual with sternness.

“Why?”

“Because it seems your friends are distracting you from your work.” She stated in a matter-of-factly tone but at the same time keeping her serious manner.

With a sigh, Hansol picked up his work and walked over to the seat next to you. As he sat down, he turned tom S.Coups and Joshua who were smirking. Hansol rolled his eyes before looking down at the worksheet.

Trying to seem like you weren’t totally freaking out that your crush had been moved next to you, you ‘attempted’ to carry on with the work the teacher had set. You noticed that every now and then, Hansol kept switching his line of vision from you to your work then to his work. This went on for about ten minutes.

Then, the teacher announced “I need to print something off for my next lessons. I still expect you to work in silence and just remember that I’ll be able to hear as I am only next door. I’ll leave the door open.” And with that, she left. Within a couple of seconds, the class erupted in volume as people started to talk again.

You sighed and so did Hansol just moments later. “You’re Y/N, right?” He enquired, turning slightly to look at you.

You nodded. “Yes, yes I am.”

He continued with a grin, obviously happy that he had struck up some conversation with you. “I’m Hansol.”

“I know.” You stated. Hansol raised an eyebrow, finding your comment somewhat weird and possibly creepy. You rolled your eyes then added “I don’t live under a rock you know—and plus the teacher mentioned it.”

“That’s good to know.” He trailed off. “So what do you like doing?” He asked.

Once again, you sighed “Well,” You began, almost as you were happy that he asked “I like listening to music and reading—but mostly listening to music.” You said smiling and blushing as you felt your cheeks heat.

Hansol nodded and grinned widely which you found very adorable. However, before he could say anything else, he was interrupted by S.Coups “What’re you talking about?” You immediately ‘tried’ to resume your work.

“Nothing much.” Hansol muttered before turning to glance at you then returning his gaze to S.Coups. Without being noticed, you snuck a glance to where Hansol was previously sitting but only saw Joshua sitting there—who now decided to also join you conversation. Sighing, you went back to your work before it got even more awkward.

You glanced up to see if they were still there and just at that moment, S.Coups then turned to you and said: “Just between me and you Y/N,” He began with the side of his hand to his mouth so Hansol couldn’t hear despite him sitting right next to you “Hansol really likes you.” Did you hear that correctly? Or were you just daydreaming? You saw that Hansol shot him a black look obviously saying ‘Shut up!’ and ‘Did you really have to do that?’ Nevertheless, he continued “Like – really likes you.”

You then turned to Joshua to see what he had to say. Joshua nodded, agreeing with S.Coups. Awkwardly, you glanced away, suddenly finding your work more interesting. S.Coups and Joshua gave Hansol a suggestive look saying to ask you out and thumbs up before walking back to their own seats.

Hansol then turned to you once he was certain that S.Coups and Joshua weren’t going to creep back and opened his mouth to say something. However you beat him to it: “Did they mean it?”

Hansol hesitated. “Mean what?”

You paused. There was no way you were gonna let it slide away. “About you liking me?” Hansol froze for a moment before cringing and nodding his head. He then buried his head in his arms that were crossed in front of him on the table. You guessed that Hansol was probably going to ignore you for the rest of the lesson due to the awkwardness, so you continued: “That’s good then.”

Hansol looked up with furrowed eyebrows. “It is?” He enquired.

You nodded. Now it was you who was cringing. “Cause I sort of like you too.”

Almost immediately, a wide grin surfaced on Hansol’s face. You love it when he smiled; it never failed to like up your day “Seriously?” He asked almost as if he didn’t believe what you were saying.

You smiled and nodded. “I’m taking that this is the very cliché part where we have a crush on each other and thought that the other would never return those feelings.” You stated with a light smirk.

Hansol chuckled. “Yeah, it is: very cliché.”
