"Kyungsoo, I love you."

The beat of her own heart had never been so loud until that very moment. She could practically hear each nervous thump! as she broke into cold sweat.

What did I just say?!

Each second seemed like a year or even an eternity as she stood opposite that beautiful boy. The air whistled, filling that awkward gap between them. She didn't know whether she should say something more or if she should just wait for him. The latter option seemed ridiculous. By the way he stared blankly at her, he was unlikely going to respond any time soon.

Oh my god, say something! Anything!

He stared at her with those round eyes. She always loved staring at his eyes; they were like shinning marbles determined to pierce the inner core of her soul. For such a strong and silent type, his eyes always spoke volumes. But now, they were giving her absolutely nothing.

Finally, his mouth (of heart-shaped lips she had come to adore) parted to speak.

"Okay."

And without another word, he turned his back and walked away.

Okay. That's all he said.

She watched his back as he paced through the sea of high school students, people clueless of what had just transpired between the two of them. He took a turn and disappeared from her sight.

She stood frozen on the spot; her brain still trying to process what just happened. Hours ago, she prepped herself for this day. Now, here she was, and all she got was a simple: Okay. Not the dramatic kiss or possibly awkward laugh she expected. Just a cold slap of Okay to the face.

She wanted to faint. She wanted to melt right on the spot. If only she could erase everything, just dissolve into nothingness. If words could kill her, the Okay was enough to cut her lifeline right then and there.

On that day, In Soo-Yeon said goodbye to her number one dream:

To have Do Kyungsoo like her back.
