Chapter 14
His BrotherHe said yes!
Hyesung stared at the message his best friend had sent him minutes ago. His eyes were blurry, but somehow the words were sharp. He could read them perfectly. The alcohol had not kicked in yet, so he was still too sober to handle this. He needed way too much to drink to even lie to himself that he was fine, and Eric was going to be happy with Andy.
Congratulations!
Hyesung responded. This was the first time he didn’t mean what he was saying. He wanted to yell at Eric and hit him and punch him and fight him, but it wasn’t possible. Eric was happy. Didn’t Hyesung want him to be happy? He did. But he wanted him to be happy with him. He wanted Eric to look at him and see something more than just a friend.
Thanks!
Eric responded. Hyesung could see the wide smile on that handsome face. He could see the smile reaching from ear to ear. The wrinkles around the eyes became more defined as the man grinned even more. Hyesung hurt more when Eric was happy. If Eric had been miserable, it would have been so much better. Hyesung could have laughed at the suffering. It wasn’t enough that Andy was going to be miserable It needed to be Eric.
Do you want to be my best man?
Hyesung read Eric’s question million times but couldn’t understand what it said. Best man? Eric was asking him to stand next to him, on a VIP seat, where he would witness how the love of his life married someone else? Hyesung snorted. He poured himself another glass of soju and downed it. Eric wasn’t making any sense. Hyesung took another shot. Eric was just being a good friend. Hyesung finished the bottle.
I’d love to!
Hyesung typed clumsily. Eric would be so happy. He would smile. And he would tell how thankful he was. Hyesung smiled. Eric loved him. He did love him. Hyesung loved him too. He looked at the phone. Eric had sent a thumbs-up giving emoticon. The text became blurry when the tears began to stream down Hyesung’s cheeks. He was going to be fine…right?
Junjin had just come back home when his doorbell rang. Minwoo was probably bringing him the close for the next day’s interview. Junjin strode to the door and opened it. Instead of Minwoo, behind the door was Andy. He looked nervous.
“Hi,” Junjin greeted confused.
“Hi,” Andy answered. “Can I come in?”
“Of course,” Junjin put his foot in front of his two dogs, Jackson and Podo, who tried to get out. “Sit down,” the singer asked politely, but Andy didn’t sit down. “What is it?”
“I…I need to tell you something,” Andy twiddled his fingers.
“Yes?” Junjin asked, his hand landing to the cheek, wiping something off. “You can tell me anything.”
Andy gawked into the eyes, and then pulled the face down, so he could close the gap between them. Ju
