Amber’s PoV

I lightly squirm, squeezing my eyes just a little before shutting them back, hearing the faded sound of sizzling and picking up a fainted scent of bacon. This causes my stomach to growl like the thunderstorm under the seven seas.

Despite the fact I want to continue on wallowing myself in bed, my tummy is telling me otherwise.

That aside, I pick up an unusual odour lingering in the room. I push the comforter to the side and steadily having my feet grazing off the grey fur rug on the complex marble floor.

My eyes twitches upon the sight of the interior designs of the room. It’s way too different than mine.

So far upon two months of staying in this condo with Soojung, my room has been filled with simple colour bed sheets, the walls are tagged with my schedule papers with Soojung’s ones as well, the dressing table is just simple moisturiser and cleanser and more tiny sticky notes dap onto the edge of the mirror with additional of a study table for my use.

But in this room, it’s way too opposite than mine. Not flashy type that shimmers with gold. Instead, here I am, lying on the soft comfortable kings sized bed with soft and warm hues, creating a shooting and calming atmosphere that relaxes herself. Ah, this must be Soojung’s room. I never sleep on the her bed before but I can instantly recognise the scent immediately due to Soojung’s favourite perfume; orange blossom Cologne.

I waltz my way out from the room, walking down the flight of stairs that seem familiar to me and straight to the kitchen.

Author’s PoV

Krystal soon feels a presence walking into the kitchen, noting the small footsteps made by Amber.  “Morning dork.”

“Morning princess.” Amber yawn sleepily while rubbing her eyes. Amber gazes at Krystal, who seems to be handling the kitchen on her own, making some classic English breakfast. For an ephemeral moment, looking at this side of Krystal sounds like a foreign taste to her tongue.

In a glimpse, one would have a perception on those who are blessed in such prestige background wouldn’t lift a finger in the kitchen setting.

To her, it feels strange, swapping both individual’s position. She used to be the one who would be the early bird to prep some breakfast for the both of them but today seems like its vice-versa today.

She walks to the fridge to make the usual coffee for the both of them. No words are needed to be exchanged for either parties for their specific preferences; not when they’ve been living under the same roof for a while now.

“How long was I out?” Amber asks, settling herself onto her usual place after setting the cutleries and their drinks on the dining table. She ruffles her hair while yawning sleepily, her eyes which seems to squinting every once in a while. She hasn’t sleep this much.

“Two days.” Krystal said casually, flipping the pan to turn the sides of the bacon.

Amber instantly chokes upon sipping her coffee. “What?!”

“Relax. I’ve settled your problems already. I’ve called-”

“Holy smokes!! I gotta call my boss!!! What would he would say if I’m late!!! And my class!! I need to-” Her rambles extends long up to endless road and it becomes an annoying existence to Krystal’s ears.

Krystal forcefully jams in the cooked bacon into Amber’s mouth while sighing; seemly a softly deflating.

“Hear me out, stupid.” Krystal huffs.

“Yes princess.” Amber nods her head with full ears, eyeing the young Jung; trying to stay put while calming herself down.

“As I was saying, I’ve called a few of your bosses. So to keep it short, I’ve done the tedious job for you so rest for today. They gave you a week to rest too so just chill.” Krystal said calmly, pushing Amber with her landing onto the chair while placing the plates onto the dining table.

Amber bites the bacon, munching it into pieces. Upon savouring the taste, her cheeks flush in astonishment, remarking her thoughts, “ish zuper gwod!” Taking a big gulp on the food, she continued on, “I’m surprised.”

Krystal give her a sly smirk while grinning. “It’s nothing.” She settles herself nicely on the opposite side of the chair as she starts to dig in her meal as well.

“Ehem. I called the doctor while you’re asleep.”

“What?! Why did you called the doctor? I told you I’ll be fine. Calling a doctor. . .wait, How much does it cost?”

“Cost aside, the morning I woke you up, you didn’t respond to me and when I checked your temperature, it has gone up higher than before. What do you expect me to do? Feed you weird pills and have a dead llama in my place?”

“. . .”

Seeing Amber has a lack of response to her question, Krystal proceeds, “So the doctors told me you’re kindda dumb enough to exhaust yourself with lack of sleep and there’s your stupid fever. So just rest for today. I went though the trouble to inform everyone that you’re sick.”

“I see. . .honestly, I don’t know how to react to this. But thanks Soojung. I mean it.” Such sincerity bore within her voice; sweet and calming.

“Welcome. Anyway, don’t overdo it next time.”

“Arraso. I’ll try to not make you worry.”

“Huh? You’ll try? You’re not going to make an effort, huh. If you’re such a masochist, I recommend fifty shades of grey.”

“N-no that’s not what- ??!!*cough* Fifty shades of Grey?! Are you seriously recommending me that!!?? Aren’t you my senior?” Amber face starts to have red traces vividly forming in embarrassment, making her stagger as she mumbles.

“haha. Your reaction is so refreshing.” She chuckles with Amber’s flabbergasted actions.

She joins the laughter in unison. As it died down, Amber voices her thoughts, “I thought rich people wouldn’t dare to lift a knife. Pardon my rudeness though.” Amber carries on enjoying the meal prepared before her.

“Apology accepted. I’m not surprise because your words are not wrong either. But since I’m also a ‘potential’ bride in the future, my family thought that me and sister should learn how to cook. So we took cooking class when we were younger.” Krystal explains, elegantly cutting her toast on her platter.

“Hmn~ Wait, if you’re capable in cooking by yourself, then is there a use in me in the first place?” The innocent young llama point her index finger to herself.

Krystal’s brown eyes dance invitingly, meeting with Amber’s orbs and in that silence between them, Amber could feel a slight change in the air, like the temperature drops that gives her body the shivers as Krystal heaves her words, “Here’s a little advice from your senior, llama. There’s so much one can handle.” Her words are firm yet clear like the thunder on August day.

“Well that’s for you to know. So don’t shoulder things on your own.” The young heiress winks playfully before resuming in her meal. The cold air dispenses after Krystal carries her words to Amber by heart.

Amber who is stun for a moment, regains back her composure. It’s clear as the blue sky, Krystal’s hint in her message would be translated-Even though I’m capable in handling myself, but it doesn’t mean I can burden everything on my own.

She sighs. Krystal surely is an odd person. Krystal’s revelations about her personal life makes Amber change her mind for her lack of discernment towards people like her, slowly by slowly.

Strangely, without words being said, things that Krystal would do makes Amber trusts her judgment without a slight hesitation in her heart. It’s weird but just like Krystal said from the moment both parties met, those words still echoes vividly in the spectrum of her memory, “call it a hunch.”

That particular fond memory, in short, makes her eyes lighten, smiling to the places where the sun can’t reach and warms the soul within her. “You’re weird.” Amber grins.

Krystal raises her eyebrow, puzzled by her sudden remarks, scoffing as she reply, “I should say the same, stupid.” She said in amusement left in her tone while her lips lifts upwards where her dimples crinkles with her teeth perfectly aligned.

“By the way, aren’t you busy today?

“I’m not.  Just-. . for today.” The young Jung shutter as she speaks, in a way Amber finds it quite cute for her to be flustered.

Amber involuntarily smiles. “So what should we do now princess?”

“I don’t know. . . But there’s this series that my friends have been asking me to watch but I was too busy to bother. So wanna go on a movie marathon?”

“Sounds good to me.”

“OMO, I thought Amber-shii is a diligent student?”

“I don’t have class tomorrow and you’ve called my bosses. I might as well get wasted for once.” The llama smirks.

“Let’s call for a take out. I always wanted to try the chicken combo set and beer!”

“NO!!” Her sudden outburst surprised the young Jung.

“What’s wrong with the food?”

“No, I just have. . . a low tolerance with alcohol. . .” The end of her voice becomes incoherently softer, momentarily twirling with her fingers, leading Krystal laughing spontaneously upon her remarks.

“Aigoo, llama~ You’re really an innocent kid huh. What a good girl you are.” Krystal adds on, patting onto Amber’s head, intimating the gestures of a kind mother who’s praising her kid.

“And sometimes I see you coming back in a drunk state. Aren’t we the same.” Amber exclaims.

“Correction! I drank more than 20-ish shots of tequila because during the party, they were having a competition to see who drinks the best. And my friends pulled me in so. . .yeah. The other times I lost count because of social gathering stuff.”

Amber drops her jaws upon hearing the blunt static mentioned by Krystal. “But it’s just beer though. It’s not even close to tequila. You’ll get drunk just by drinking beer?” Krystal points out her curiosity; though she’s barely holding in her laughter.

Twirling her thumbs like a kid she is, she nods her head in shame. “I-I got drunk on my second beer when I was being forced by my co-workers to go for a drink. Let’s just say I run wild. So I drank milk whenever I’m out with them.”

Krystal laughs heartily to a point her stomach hurts.

“Yah! Are you seriously going on about this?” This time around, Amber’s cheeks display a dark shade red with Krystal sniggering at her face.

“Okay I won’t laugh anymore, stupid. But it wouldn’t hurt to see you drunk. I can blackmail you.”

“Haha. Very funny.” Amber scoffs, walking to the kitchen with her plate and Krystal’s as well, setting them into the basin to get them washed.

“Am.”

“Yes princess?”

“Once you’re done, sit next to me.”

She blinks her eyes while scrunching her eyebrows in wonder by Krystal’s words, uttering her words in a hollow voice, “ha. . .okay?”

Krystal picks the movie series as Amber finishes washing the dishes. “Soojung!!” Amber coed, jumping onto the couch.

Krystal who has finally settled in the middle of couch, pats her hands to signal the llama to where she wants the llama to sit. Amber doesn’t question her actions and complied.

Once Amber finally sets her seat next to Krystal, the young heiress shifts her position; spreading Amber’s legs, sitting exactly in front of Amber, grabbing Amber’s hands to permit her to encircle her arms around Krystal’s waist.

Amber’s eyes are as big as saucers, her muscles tenses upon the sudden touch to how close they were for warmth to spread between them. Her head feels fuzzy, slightly dizzy and for a split second, her thoughts are laid bare and .

Amber looks blankly inscrutable.

“Stupid, I’m cold.” Krystal hissed. Her sultry voice snaps Amber out from her draining mind before she fixes her position to allow the young Jung to lay on her chest. Amber’s firm arms interlock, Krystal bathed into Amber’s embrace and warmth as if she is cocooned in a shell.

“Soojung.”

“Yes?” Krystal asks casually while pressing the play button for the movie to start.

“Why are we hu- in this state?”Amber asks chirpily, though not that she minds on what Krystal’s request. There’s no harm in hugging a friend. She probably hugs Taeyeon unnie for being adorable. She sworn to secrecy that she’ll keep on hugging Taeyeon unnie until she’s satisfied.

In conclusion, Amber just loves hugs. Apart from not wanting to show this side of hers to Dani and Jonghyun, she tries her best to hold back from randomly hugging anyone around her even Krystal.

Krystal hums as she replies in a deadpan manner, “Amber, you mumble a lot in your sleep.”

“What?!” Her face gives off a surging perplexity.

“I wanna hug ma teddy bear. . .yeah those were the words along the line.”

“*gasp* I thought it was all a dream.” Amber averts her gaze while mumbling to herself for being caught red-handed.

Krystal eyes her in amusement. She chortles while saying, “Stupid, I was joking. I realise you like to hug when you sleep. Taeyeon unnie even mention a certain member of her group project just~ loves to hug her a lot. So I thought it’s one of your trait. . .”

“*gasp* I have . . . no words. I’m ashamed of myself.”

Krystal turns her head, slightly adjusting her movement a little in Amber’s embrace, eyeing Amber with her face that describes ‘really?’ plasters on her face; in a sardonic way to hint her thoughts.

“Okay. . . Maybe I’m not so much ashamed about it. . .i just like hugging?”

“Ew. that’s just you being a ert dork. yber!”

“awh come on! I can’t resist anything cute! Even kids! It’s hard to explain but I just. . .feel like I want to connect to others. I don’t know- maybe I just feel better when I hug someone too. It comforts me. I’ll just get the anxiety if I don’t hug anyone.” She babbles her words incoherently, flustered as she admits her surprising character.

“How unexpected. For a four eye nerd like you, you can shamelessly hug anyone huh.” Krystal teases.
