Lost in Bluesummer

Description

It’s not easy being an adult.

Correction. It’s not easy being stuck in that transitional period in which you’re neither a hormonal teenager or a functional member of society.

Too lost for her own good Alyssa Cheung comes back to Bluesummer after spending a year away with her aunt in Canada to discover more about herself. The result: not much was learnt. Except for one of two hockey tricks. Tired of wandering aimlessly at the age of 20, and following a not so clean break up, she makes a drastic decision by swearing that she will remain single forever. Something that will be difficult to commit to.

However, when the legendary Moustache Man binds himself to an unbreakable bet with another deity regarding her, Ally ends up in a difficult position in which she’ll have to choose between maturity and pettiness, motivated by the need to defeat the school’s Mary Sue who, for no reason, has started to hate her.

That’s without talking about the ridiculous detective club her Eccentric-And-Way-Too-Rich best friend Eliza wants to drag her into along with The Crazy Scientist Yixing, The Openly Gay Tao, and the Angel-Of-Death Aki. Together, they are going to have to digest the fact that not everything is about work and success, but about exploring endless possibilities and finding where they belong.

As if things aren’t bad enough, last semester the chancellor announced the merger of Amiticia and Sharkbitten University—their eternal rival—the deans having apparently gotten married.

Then begins a series of adventures, one wilder than the other. And the universe is praying for her sanity.

Welcome to the islands of Bluesummer, where the water turns the colour of blue sky during the month of June.

Once upon a near future, in which political leaders chose to unite, instead of bickering like little children—the way they have always done it.

Who would’ve thought countries such as the United States of America, Canada, Sweden, Japan, and Korean would ever give up on their national pride to combine their knowledge? It certainly did happen.

Two artificial sister islands were built to accommodate the most powerful and knowledgeable school in the world—well, school-to-be.

Thus, was born Amiticia University.

Foreword

After a long hiatus, and months of outlining, I am finally going to bring my baby to life. This was meant to be an original story (with only o/c's), but for the purpose of this website, I made some changes to turn it into a fanfic.

If you like romantic-comedies, humour, and absurdities, then you might love this story as much as I do. It revolves around a group of young adults/college students from various ethnic background and with different ual-identities going through that awkward transition between childhood and adulthood. I don't want to spoil the pairings, so let's just say it's an EXO fic. Will start posting when reviewing my second draft. Hopefully, soon (hoping to finish the first draft in less than a month). As I am more a thriller/mystery writer, this is quite the challenge for me, but I've always wanted to write humour. Now, enjoy!

GENRE

  • Comedy/Satire, Romance, Friendship, Slight Elements of Fantasy, Slice of Life, Elements of Crack

RATED

  • R (although this story is rather light hearted, I do want to exploit deep themes such as mental illnesses, peer pressure, abuse, etc.)

WARNING: BECAUSE YOU'RE NEVER TOO CAREFUL

DO NOT READ, if you get easily offended by things that might go against your religious affiliation. I understand that some people are sensitive about certain topics. Well, the characters all have their own system of beliefs, for that, they are supposed to be humans, and some might contradict yours--will contradict yours. Some are extremely liberals, some are more conservatives. I want this to look as realistic as possible. Therefore, I will NOT start debates. I will NOT respond to comments criticizing MY/THEIR system of beliefs (usually my characters', but since I'm the author I'll be the one under attack). As the author and God of the story, I am and will remain unbiased. So please, treat this as a work of fiction.
