Ji Changwook is bored out of his mind. This morning, the madam, his boss, Choi Yoojin asked him to protect her daughter for the duration of her stay in Korea. Saying no hadn’t been an option. He didn’t even know his boss had any children. He had always assumed she was barren. In any case, he is not looking forward to baby-sitting some stuck up heiress when he has more important things to deal with. They were supposed to be meet a quarter after one at the daughter’s house but it’s now 2:15 and still no sign of the daughter or the madam. K1, Lee Sungkyoo, the other bodyguard assigned to the daughter, had already briefed him on the house and its security measures. He was in charge of protecting her in the daytime and K1 at nighttime. The house included a separate quarter for the staffs to live in as well as to monitor the main house.

Just as he was about to do some digging on the mysterious daughter of Yoojin’s, he had to protect her he figures he might as well get to know her, the front door opens. He and K1 immediately stood up. The madam’s bodyguard, G3, walks in first and nods to the two of them when he spots them near the couch. Yoojin walks in not long after G3 gives the order it’s okay to enter. Changwook bows down politely like he’s supposed to. The person that follows Yoojin knocks the wind out of him. He stood stunned and pale as if he had just seen in a ghost. How was this even possible?

She, however, doesn’t even spare him a glance for she’s too busy caring for the toddler in her arms. “Mom, I’m going to put her down before she wakes up.” Yoojin nods and points up the stairs to the second door on the right.

Changwook is still rooted to his spot, staring at the place where she had stood until K1 nudges him in the ribs. “We got stuck in traffic.” Yoojin sits down on the left side of the sofa and drinks the tea that’s just been made for her. That was as close as to an apology they were going to get from her.

“It’s okay, we didn’t wait for very long.” K1 answers and nudges Changwook to agree. He mumbles a yeah but it’s obvious he’s not really paying attention. His eyes are glued to the door that she disappeared into a few minutes ago. Thankfully no one questions his strange behavior.

She emerges out of the room with a baby monitor in one hand ten minutes later and makes way to the living room. It’s only when she’s a few feet away from the couch does she notice the man staring right at her. What was he doing here? He notes that she seems as shocked as he did when he saw her. “This is my daughter, Im Yoona.” Yoojin stands up and walks over to her daughter, breaking the silence stares between her and Changwook. “Please take good care of her and Hana.”

Fate had a strange sense of humor. “Mom, I don’t need more bodyguards, unnie can protect me.” Referring to Miran otherwise known as J4.

Yoojin places a hand on Yoona’s shoulders. “J4 will be busy protecting Hana. Who’s going to protect you?”

“I can protect myself.”

“No, not when your father is running for the election. You have no idea what the other opponents are capable off. Not to mention you’re a star, what kind of a star doesn’t need a bodyguard?” Yoojin continues when she sees Yoona opening to argue. “That is final. And if I find out you tried to ditch them I will make sure to double your bodyguards. Capisce?” Yoona nods obediently. “This is K1 and K2, K2 will be responsible for you in the daytime and K1 at night time.” Yoojin points to the two man respectively and turns to the two other women that had entered with her and Yoona. “This is J4, Hana’s bodyguard, and chief Kim, she’ll be handling housework as well as meals.”

Just her luck, he had to be the one that guarded her in daytime. She can feel his heated gaze on her reading her expressions but she refuses to meet his eye. Now wasn’t the time. She stretches her arms and fakes a yawn. “I think I’m going to bed, still jet legged and all.”

Yoojin casts her daughter a wary glance but nonetheless gives her hug and a peck on the cheek before leaving. “Don’t forget dinner tomorrow.”
