Description

I'm sure we've all had our fair share of misdialled numbers.

People texting 'thanks for last night' even though you were sure you spent the whole night under your duvet watching cat videos on your phone until the Sun rose.

Sometimes you might've had fun with the person and replied something outrageous like 'the sacrifice was successful. Thanks for your participation last night' only you chicken out and tell them, 'sorry love I think s/he gave you the wrong number :/'.

But what if the person ended up playing along with your antics? And what if you ended up messaging each other on midnight like clockwork?

Foreword

~ Prologue ~

December 31 2015

Zina threw her trainers somewhere at the bottom of the stairs before sitting down on a step and rubbing her aching feet. She just got home from the New Year's Eve party after leaving two hours before midnight. She had spent the majority of the night dancing and getting to know one of the boys in her computing class, however he had to leave abruptly after getting a text. Before he left they had exchanged numbers which was the only highlight of the night. Not even thirty minutes after he left she started to get bored and irritated with all the couples dancing around preparing for their special midnight kiss. Why should they be enjoying themselves when she wasn't? It was even more irritating when her best friend Toni had left her for a random boy so she wouldn't be alone. Deciding enough was enough, she texted her dad to pick her up, who didn't hesitate in picking her up earlier than expected.

"Zina, your siblings and mum are sitting in the living room waiting for midnight. You want to clean yourself and join them?" Alistair, her father, said unlacing his shoes and sliding his feet into his slippers.

"Actually my head's pounding from the loud music. I think I'm better off lying down for a bit. I might come down a little later if that's okay?" To make her point, she rubbed her head and winced because it actually did hurt more than she expected.

Her dad laughed, "that's why I told you to take it easy. Seriously though, I don't like seeing you drink this much. Please learn to control yourself okay?"

I might've but being dateless in a sea of couples just got to me dad. "Yes I will, I'll make it a resolution to control myself." She crossed her chest and winked, to the best of her ability at least. When he left she gathered herself and took a few deep breaths to calm her racing heart. No doubt her face was bright red, she could feel the blood pumping in her cheeks. She groaned as she stood up, and pulled her jeans up and made her way to her room.

Her phone in her pocket buzzed for a few seconds along with a 'ping'. She pulled it out and saw that Toni had messaged her.

Hey, sorry I couldn't find you.
You disappeared, where'd you go?

Oh so now she was getting noticed. Calm down Zina, it's not like you're the only person in her life. She sighed and replied,

Yeah I've got a killer headache rn.
I just got home now. Sorry I'll make
it up to you when we next meet up kkay?

Hello people of AFF!!!!!!!

I hope you enjoy this story~ Things look so different to when I was last active son was with me as I adjust myself and make the layout nicer ^^ (primarily cus I'm on my phone rn so when I get on my laptop things should look better after some tweaking~~~
