Foreword

After all the commotion, everyone died down at the sudden blaring in the speakers that made cringe worthy sounds it honestly could make your ears bleed if it were any louder.

“Greeting class of 2017, welcome to Konoha High School! I would like to say that I’m excited to have every one of you here today. After all, you are the future generation…” The principal, Tsunade, went on about what she is expecting from our graduation class this year. The opening ceremony dragged on and I eventually began to look at all the students in my grade level this year. Taking not of all the familiar faces from school years before, I finally manage to find my best friend. His pineapple hair wasn’t that hard to find considering how spikey and noticeable it is. He honestly wasn’t that far from where I was sitting either so that was a bonus.

Then principal Tsunade announced something about the top three students from last year, so I couldn’t help but pay attention.
“These three students put forth the most effort in their own education. By doing so, they have shown how truly remarkable they are. The three students I am talking about are Sasuke Uchiha…” The principal was soon cut off by the swooning sounds of fan-girls that were obsessed with Sasuke. Just mentioning the first letter in his name would cause all these girls to go crazy, but eventually when the cheering died down the principal began listing off the other two names. “Rin Hatake and Shikamaru Nara!” She finished and motioned the three of us to where she was standing. Which was smack dab right in the center of the Gymnasium.

All three of us stood in unison. Every single student eye, even the teacher’s cold stares, they were all on us. Watching every single move we made down those small steps. It honestly scared me to say the least… What if someone tripped me and everyone saw? I would be the laughing stock of the entire school… Being put on the spot like that? No. I don’t even like talking to people besides Shikamaru. But even the two of us don’t talk much because I get embarrassed and he’s too lazy.

The three of us walked towards the center of the Gymnasium where the blond principal stood with high beliefs for the three of us.
“I would like you all to say something to the student body in your grade level. We’ll start with you first, Hatake. Make it good.” She announced pointing at me, then pushing me towards the microphone.

Great! Time to embarrass myself in front of the entire school! I walked the rest of the way towards the death-phone and cleared my throat before I began to humiliate yours truly. “Hello everyone, my name is Rin Hatake…” I froze, realizing that everyone was staring at me… even my father, “I just wanted to s-say that I-I hope you do gre-great this school year!” I bowed before cowering back to Shika’s side. He clasped a hand on my shoulder and nodded before heading up there himself to the death-phone.

“My name is Shikamaru Nara,” He paused, “Just do your best this year, and whatever other things you can do to better yourself.” He stuffed his hands in his pockets before heading back by me to stand by my side. Then he whispered in my ear, “What a drag.”

Sasuke Uchiha slowly crept his way up to the death-phone and just made it simple for himself. “My name is Sasuke Uchiha.” He stated before trotting near the three of us. While doing so, Shika, Tsunade, and I all gazed at him with utter most shock, however every girl in the Gymnasium ran in the direction of the raven-haired boy screaming ‘I love you!’ or ‘Sasuke-kun’ or perhaps both. I have no clue.

“How troublesome. Let’s get out of here and out of his way, Rin.” Shika stated as he headed for the double doors next to the set of bleachers that people (Boys and a small amount of girls) resided on.

Listening to him, I followed alongside the boy to only be interrupted by a teacher with gravity-defying hair and a mask covering half his face, my dad.

“Hello Rin, Shikamaru, congratulations on making it in the top three.” He smiled with his eyes closed, and ended the entire thing with a slight wave in our direction. “Would you like to go out to dinner with us tonight to celebrate, Shika?” He asked, his eyes opening and his hand dropping to his side.

“Yeah, sure, Mr. Hatake. I just have to ask my mom and dad if it’s alright.” The spikey haired boy grinned, instantly putting his arms up being his head with a smug look on his face.

“No need to be formal, Shikamaru. Just call me Kakashi. But only out of school.” Dad stated, glancing at me occasionally. “Alright, now get to class. Before the crowd comes and you’ll be late on your first day of school.” My dad suddenly pointed at the humongous crowd that was getting closer to us by the second.

Looking at each other, we both knew at that moment, we were about to lose our lives. Or our perfect attendance.
