One day during the hot summer, a child with jet black hair was brought to Seoul Orphanage by his mother. She brought a luggage, presumably filled with the child’s belonging. She told the child to go to the playground and play with the children there. While he was gone, she quickly filled in the papers and left the orphanage without a second look. After 10 minutes, the child with jet black hair started to look for his mother. When he realized what was going on, he bawled his eyes out at the porch of the orphanage. He refused to leave the porch, insisting on waiting for his mother to pick him up. But little did he know, she was never coming back.

Main characters

Kim Mingyu- He is a 7 year old, a kid with bright personality. He was sociable and almost everyone in the orphanage was his friend. He had been in the orphanage for as long as he can remember. According to the director of the orphanage, Mingyu’s parents both passed away in a car accident 4 years ago. Mingyu was the sole survivor of the accident.

Jeon Wonwoo- He is an 8 year old, a kid who was a total introvert. He liked to keep everything to himself and he never trusted anyone after his mother abandoned him at the orphanage one day. His father cheated on his mother when he was 3 years old. And for the next 5 years, his mother raised him single-handedly. Suddenly one day after school, his mother packed his clothes and brought him to the orphanage. She asked him to go to the playground and play with the kids. He did as told, and after 10 minutes, he went round looking for his mother. But she was never found.

Side characters

Dino (Lee Chan)- He is a 5 year old child who has been in the orphanage with his brother Lee Seok Min. Their parents left them at the orphanage as they were too poor and didn’t want to ruin the brothers’ future.

Lee Seok Min- He is a 7 year old, Dino’s brother. He is Mingyu’s best friend in the orphanage. The two of them get along very well, sharing secrets with each other.

Lee Ji Hoon- He is a 8 year old, and just like Wonwoo, he is an introvert. But scarier. Maybe that’s why Wonwoo and him are the closest. All the kids in the orphanage never go near him. Even the older kids. He is a mysterious boy who never tells anyone about his background.

Boo Seung Kwan- He is a 6 year old, the sassiest kid you will ever meet. He can be really hyper and happy but when you step on his toes or spoil his favourite drama, he turns into a sassy old lady. Seung Kwan…let’s just say he is a really special child. He seems to live in his own world.

Kwon Soon Young- He is an 8 year old, and he has been around the orphanage ever since he was an infant. It didn’t affect him much as he wasn’t very interested about his parents. He lived a really happy and innocent life. If you could describe Soon Young in 3 words, it would be ‘Happy-Go-Lucky’.

Choi Seung Cheol- He is the oldest amongst the children, like a leader. He is 9 years old, but he is the director’s son. He drops by the orphanage every day after school to play with his friends. His parents taught him about the children in the orphanage ever since he understood things. Thus, he takes really good care of almost every kid in the orphanage. And he calls his parents Mr and Mrs Choi whenever they’re at the orphanage.

Yoon Jeong Han- He is a social worker at Seoul orphanage. He has just graduated from college at the age of 22 years old because he had a special scholarship. He loves interacting and playing with the children.

Joshua Hong- He is a volunteer at the orphanage. He drops by the orphanage at least twice a week to tutor the children in English as he used to study in the United States. He is currently 20 years old.

Vernon Choi- He is a schoolmate of the children who studies in Pledis Primary School. His mother is a Caucasian thus he has the western looks. He is 6 years old. His best friend is none other than the sassy Boo Seung Kwan. He is very protective over his friend even though he may be an introvert.

Moon Jun Hui (Jun)- He also studies at Pledis Primary School with the other kids from the orphanage. He is 8 years old, from China. His parents moved to Korea for some job opportunities. He enjoys hanging out with the children from the orphanage as they seem to appreciate more than the other kids.

Xu Ming Hao- He is a quiet 7 year old kid from China as well. He was supposed to be on an exchange programme for 2 months. However, his parents decided to let him study and stay in Korea with his relatives as he really liked the country. 

A/N Hello everyone! It’s my first time writing a fanfic for Seventeen. And so far, it is my second story. A plot suddenly came to my mind and I decided to write it down. And the MEANIE couple is definitely my top ship~HEHE. Any meanie lovers out there too? Anyways. If there is any similarities of my story to any other story out there, I swear it is coincidental. Feel free to tell me as if I don’t want to be plagiarising any other hardworking authors’ work. I know how hard inspiration comes by to write a story.
