This isn't love
If there was anyone who knew the answer to such a question.
They knew it clearer than anyone...
They didn’t marry for love.
They never did.
.
.
.
“Let’s get divorce” he remembered how cruelly he said those words.
He didn’t understand why she was crying?
Wasn’t it out of convenience? Their arranged marriage?
They both knew of it.
The ending to this play.
How the curtain has to fall and how the audiences would disperse.
At some point, everything has to end.
Since the day they were born everything had already been predetermined.
Like a perfect piece of puzzle or chess, every step they took was calculated. They both were only using each other. Sooner or later they would be discarded.
And now it was the moment her purpose had finished.
So he cruelly abandoned her, replacing her with another who was more capable in this cut-throat game of survival.
He couldn’t love her because he didn’t know how to.
While for her, there was no need to give any pity.
They would forget soon enough.
Humans were like that.
Within this mortal world, they would do everything in order to fulfill their own greed.
Too selfish for their own good, and too easily forgetting everything.
Soon he would forget about her and she too would forget about him.
He took over his father's company like he planned and took revenge on his enemies as he wanted.
And not once did he think back about her.
It was a constant nightmare, there was no rest the moment he closed his eyes. He had done too many things that could never be forgiven. But the mere reminder of her name is much worse.
But then they met again.
She had become prettier.
Even though he was supposed to forget everything.
He still remembers it clearly, the shape of her lips.
She never wore it before that type of vibrant shade of red lipstick.
She looks good without makeup, even if he had never said it.
He had always thought that she was very pretty.
And now...
It screams out seduction.
The long, tight, low cut, black dress that she was wearing.
It sends him chills, the moment she coldly turned her gaze away from him.
How pretty she had become. Like the replacement he had chosen for her, she had become even more beautiful in order to survive in this cut-throat world.
He didn’t know how to feel about it?
How should he react seeing her becoming such a person?
How should he feel when he saw her smiling lovingly, kissing and linking arms with his mortal enemies?
“Do you regret it?” His partner in crimes had asked him.
“Did you know that after, father went to jail, her mother had committed suicide as well. For rich young heiresses to lose everything at once like that, it is not surprising to see her become a person like that.” She had nonchalantly spoken of the tragic story of her past adoptive family as if she had never known them before.
“You don’t have to worry about it, you already know about it, don’t you? The difference between her and me?”
Yes, he knew of it.
That is why he chose her.
They didn’t marry out of love.
They were just using each other.
They understand it clearer than anyone.
They have similar goals and ambitions.
The path that they wanted to walk was not something anyone could walk.
He had never wanted it, for that person to be a part of this hellish pursuit of revenge.
How foolish he was to think that he could have saved her?
How could save someone who only wanted to die?
“I regretted it”
There was so much blood.
“Meeting you…”
No matter how much he begged the bleeding wouldn’t stop.
“Loving you…”
No matter how much he prayed, she would die.
“If there is another life, I wish to never love you again.”
Time would not rewind, no matter how much he wished.
That was it, the end of their story.
She died.
Shielding him from a bullet of his mortal enemies. She had bled to death within his arms and there was nothing left. She wouldn’t answer him no matter how many times he called.
What was all it for?
Why did she do it?
Why did she save someone like him?
This life was nothing but hell to him.
Why did she leave him alive in this wretched world?
He had asked her over and over again. But there was nothing, she was already dead. And soon they would come to take her away from his arm.
He laughed, he couldn’t help but laugh at that.
He was laughing because he was the one who abandoned her in the first place. He was the bastard that had taken everything away, the person who had made her life a l
