HAPPY 28TH BIRTHDAY TO OUR LOVELY CHENCHEN!!

And we have a double update to celebrate!

It’s insane how much has changed in the span of one year. Looking back at last year’s birthday message, I honestly thought I had already hit all of the peaks that I would in 2019.

Who would’ve known that I would actually get to meet Chen face-to-face and have a conversation with him just a few weeks later?

And the one-year anniversary of that meeting is soon approaching and I’m getting so emotional just thinking about the happiest day of my life in 2019.

Thank you so much, Jongdae, for being the sweetest, kindest human being alive with the most beautiful smile and the most beautiful laugh.

I was so nervous to meet you and you could definitely tell, but you were still so patient and let me work through my nerves when we talked.

You smiled and nodded at me so encouragingly while I tried to find my voice, and I am forever grateful for that.

You radiated warmth that autumn afternoon and even though I hadn’t slept a wink the night before, just being in your presence gave me all of the energy I needed that day.

And hearing your laughter… It’s still so surreal that I made you laugh (twice!) and that you drew such adorable little doodles that I requested.

I’m tearing up right now just recalling that magical day. I know I cried buckets after talking to you and for the next couple of weeks after that, every time I thought of that day.

You’ve impacted me in a way that no other person has and I will always love you from the bottom of my heart, past the end of time.

And getting to spend the last day of 2019 and the decade with you and the other EXO members was the best way I could’ve spent it. Getting to see you shine on stage with some of the most important people in your life was absolutely perfect.

Life has changed dramatically for all of us. I know you’re walking a new path now and I’m grateful everyday for any scraps of news we get of you.

It’s just reassuring to know that you’re doing okay. That you’re healthy and happy.

I’m glad that life hasn’t stalled for you like it has for so many people, myself included.

And I hope that you’re able to meet up with the other members whenever you can and that you’re taking care of yourself! Even though the future seems unsure right now for everyone, I have faith that everything will work out in the end.

We’ll all come out of this stronger than ever.

And I’m confident that you’ll be able to stand on stage again in the near future, as a soloist and as an EXO member. Because that’s where you shine, brighter than any other star, and I know how much you love performing with everyone else.

I wish only the happiest days for you for the rest of your life. :)
