“All right, that’s it for today. You guys can leave for lunch when the bell rings.” And that you did. You thought lunch couldn’t have come quicker and almost power-walked to your locker. As you were putting your books away, one of your friends puts his hand on your shoulder.

“Hey frieeend, what do you say to lunch off campus?” Bambam offered you. When you gave him an unsure look and hesitated for a second, he quickly added, “I’m treating.”

“Call!” you gave in. The friendship between you and Bambam was somewhat of an interesting one. He was someone you could have comfortable one on one time with, as you were going to, but also someone that made you questioned your feelings for him. Was it really just friendship, or did you have feelings for him? You found yourself questioning it, but you brushed it away, looking forward to eating a free lunch.

While you two walked across the street to the shopping center near your school, Bambam kept throwing cheesy pick-up lines at you.

“Y/n, you are the whip to my nae nae, the dab the my hit the quan, the dougi-”

“Please. Stahp,” you interrupted.

“Okay fine. For now, at least.” Bambam raised his eyebrows and you and smirked. With the face he was making, you couldn’t help but laugh. “I knew you couldn’t resist the dab master.” You smiled and rolled your eyes. Never tried to resist him either.

It didn’t take to long for you guys to choose a place and get to the front of the line. When Bambam was up next, he held his arms out indicating you to go first.

Thanks you mouthed to him. “I’ll have a number 4 combo with waffle fries.”

Bambam ordered the same thing and paid. While you went to get drinks, he chose where to sit. When you came back, the food was already there. You took a big inhale, and let it out. Ah the sweet smell of fattening foods.

Lunch with Bambam was different than usual. Instead of being his silly self, he talked about more serious topics like your futures and grades. It was unusual for him, especially when he was with you. He was always joking around, so you found it odd that he wasn’t today.

Walking back to the school, you asked, “Hey Bambam, are you okay? You seem more serious today.”

He turned to you with a straight face, but broke into a smile. “I have been, huh? Sorry about that Y/N. I was just thinking about something. Anyhow, did you like your lunch?”

“Yes! I tasted great. Thanks for the treat Bammie.”

The rest of the day could not have trudged on any slower. You could not focus on any of the material being taught, but instead on what could be bothering Bambam. It was so unlike him to act like he did today. Is there something wrong at home? Does he have bad grades? Is he worried about the future? All you could do it wonder until the final bell rang.

When it finally did, you rushed to your locker to put your things away and hurried to meet Bambam. To your surprise, he did exactly the same thing, and so you ended up colliding with one another.

“Omg. Y/n, are you okay?” You nodded slowly rubbing your head. “Sorry, I just had to talk to you and couldn’t wait. Here, let me help you up.” He rose first so that he could offer his hand to you. You gratefully grabbed it and held it tightly as he rose you up.

“Let’s walk home, shall we?”

The first few minutes were awfully awkward. You wanted to say something to break the atmosphere, but Bambam looked like he was in the middle of a deep thought. The chances of him actually listening to you were close to zero, so you didn’t bother. However, when it became to much to bear, you had to say something.

Just as you were about to speak, Bambam turns to you and says, “Y/n, I’ve been thinking recently…about us…and our friendship. I think you are a really nice girl, and you’re funny and smart and friendly and there’s no way you would ever agree to this, but would you consider maybe going out with me?”

You hesitated. “What do you mean? We just went out, Bammie.” There’s no way he’s going in the direction I would hope for.

“No, I meant like more than friends go-out. Like a date.”

You stopped walking. A date. With my good friend Bambam that I like. “I think,” he waited anxiously, “that sounds like a plan.”

Bambam released a sigh of relief. However, his courage did not stop there.

“Okay well cool. I think I’ll just start by taking this,” he collapsed his hand with yours.
