Heart Fragments

Description

We sat there in silence. We agreed to meet up at the Lighthouse, a nautical-themed cafe where we first met, where we both felt that instant connection at first sight. I remember him stuttering when he approached me, trying so hard to introduce himself. I smiled at the thought of the shy boy who once worked really hard to get to know me. But right now, I'm not so sure anymore.

We ordered our drinks; I asked for a hot beverage while he just wanted a glass of plain water. After the waitress left, He kept on checking his phone. I knew he was acting weird ever since he called. His tone was icy and serious. Even when I arrived, He just went in without saying anything even a holler or a greeting. When I finally can't take the silence, I carefully organized a sentence to start a conversation.

"So how was your day?" I asked with a smile, looking intently at him. I was hoping for a fast response as he usually does, but he just continue to look at his screen and ignored the question. He did nod his head but I am not sure as whether it's an answer to my inquiry or he agreed to whatever he's doing on his smart phone. When he finally put his device down on the table, he crossed his arms and looked at me deadpan.

"Let's break-up."

That was when the whole world came crashing down onto me.
