The Velvet
Description
One shot collection inspired by the songs from the mini, The Velvet. Five tracks, five stories. Summaries in foreword.
Foreword
Honestly, I can't be trusted. And I'm so busy that most of these are written during commutes. This was triggered due to the increasing amount of distress over the lack of wenrene fic. They won't be the only star but hey 2/5 is pretty good. First upload will come on a fellow author's birthday on July 5th!
I've wanted to write this collection for a while. Maybe I'll do one with some other songs I love.
A collection of fic based off The Velvet album. Here are the summaries to keep you guys anticipating.
One of These Nights [Wenrene]
Irene wonders if she's good enough for a being constructed to be perfect. She wants to hate Seulgi, Yeri and Joy, wondering if she was being mocked when they gave her the gift with the utterings of 'you've been lonely, unnie' and 'each model is unique you know'. Then with time she wonders if she's always been this needy, or if she just craves the attention and affection from her newly assigned unit. With each passing day and night she wonders if the words Wendy says are real or just programmed into her system. And she wonders how an AI can be the very definition of living.
Cool Hot Sweet Love [Joygi]
Joy hated being friends with benefits. Correction, she hated that they weren't allowed to be anything more. Why did Seulgi have to establish rules? 'I don't want to take advantage of you, so I need this to be clear from the start', she says in relation to their age difference. It must be your first time robbing the cradle, she remembers responding. She regrets it, wanting nothing more than to erase the imaginary barrier of age. Four years was nothing and she wanted to prove she could be so much more. Yeri reminds her constantly that it was her fault for starting it in the first place. And Irene constantly tells her, "I told you so". Wendy tells her she's sorry, but not to give up hope. And Seulgi tells her "I love you" by accident. [Rated M]
Light Me Up [Wenrene]
Irene scolds Wendy for the second time in the week, telling her to stop being so careless. Wendy tells her not to worry, not like anyone really cared about the pronouns she uses when singing a line from one of their new songs. Irene shakes her head and sighs, telling her that she doesn't understand. She tells Seulgi that she should sing the line next time it comes up. She can't stand hearing those words sung from Wendy's lips so easily in public, filling her with hope and potentially blinding her with the possibility of a reciprocated confession. [Rated M towards the end]
First Time [Joydy]
Wendy is drawn in by her instantly. Never has she seen eyes so milky and mysterious. And never has she met someone so mysteriously soft and quiet, yet cold and sharp with her words. But Wendy cannot be pushed away so easily and she works hard to show Joy that she can still invision beauty thanks to the magic of music. [Fluffy rated M towards the end]
Rose Scent Breeze [Seuldy]
They were childhood friends, the best of friends, and almost lovers, that is until Wendy had to return to Canada at the end of their high school career. She promised her that they'd get married one day, that she'd come back after graduating and they'd find a place together, grow old together. Wendy is expected to come home earlier than expected, but Seulgi can't understand the ring on her finger because she doesn't remember giving her that. But then Seulgi gets an invite to Wendy's wedding in a week and everything makes sense and doesn't make sense at the same time. Her senses are overloaded, it can't end like this, right?
BONUS: Automatic [Seulri]
Yeri didn't expect to see her ridiculously attractive dancing teacher again so soon after class. She wishes that she was warned that her new next door neighbour would be Kang Seulgi, her current (secret) obsession. It also doesn't help that Seulgi makes all of her students refer to her by her first name and that everything that comes out of sounds flirtacious and sensual as well. It was a weird combination that the woman happens to also be oblivious and innocent, never aware of the spell she puts on her students. It shocks Yeri even further when Seulgi asks her to stay after class and offers her private lessons at her apartment. She knew that she was a little distracted and tends to miss a beat or two in class, but she's certain that one on one sessions won't make things any easier. Alas, how can she say no?
