Foreword

“I wish your father was here to see you debut.”

Eomma…I am wishing the same, I just can’t say it aloud, can I? I wiped her tears and hugged her tight.

“Eomma…” my voice is shaking badly, and my tears start forming a Niagara fall on my cheek. It was amazing, how that one single word can bring me every single kind of emotions I could possibly have at once.

“Thank you so much for growing up well. I hope you’ll find someone who’d take care of you soon when I’m gone.”

“Eomma!” a slight anger slipped through my voice this time, but mostly fear, “if that’s the case, I’d rather not meet that someone forever as long as you promise that you’ll never leave me alone.”

“How naïve, you know we’ll all die someday,” he suddenly pulled me over to him and hugged me.

“Ah, Oppa!”  I want to punch his words away. Gosh! I hate it when his words are true, yet painful.

He my hair and his other arm is wrapped around me, “I guess it’s the last time I can hold you like this before you get busy.”

“No it won’t,” I tightened my grip on his waist, “I promise.”

Appa…can you see us like this? Just once…only once. I want to hear you say “Sejeong ah...you’ve worked hard, I missed you.”

“Sejeong eonni!” Somi flicked her fingers in front of my eyes, bring me back to seeing a familiar face in the mirror, “we’ll have to stand by in five minutes, stop daydreaming!”

“Ah, okay.”

I took a last glance to the mirror and make sure that I can decorate my face with a wide smile. It’s been six months since I can see that arrogant face of my brother, I can hardly smile now. Sorry, Oppa. I guess it’s gonna be hard for me to keep my promise. Until then...see you.
