I was playing 2k16 inside my room filled with posters of different basketball players especially my favourite, Steph Curry, when the door was swung open and I don’t need to turn my head to know who it was.

“What’s up dude?” My best friend greeted and comfortably slumped himself beside me and immediately dug in with the chips on the table. Choi Sooyoung, my best friend since we were ten and until now that we are in senior high. Goofy and a certified big eater. Being the captain ball of our university’s basketball team along his wealth and good looks just made his way easier to the hearts of every girl in our campus. Oh and did I mention that he’s also brilliant? He’s the second when it comes to academics after yours truly.

“Hey bro.” I dropped the controller and ate with him. “Why are you here?”

“I’m always here.” He shrugged but then he saw the cap that I was wearing. “Hey that looks cool.” He snatched my cap from my head and put it on his.

“Yah, that’s mine.” I tried to get it back but because of his long arms I just can’t.

“Shh, I’ll give it back to you later dude. So, have you found your girl already?” he blurted out of the blue. “What the?”

“Yah, I know I’m boyish and all but I am NOT a lesbo.” I rolled my eyes and made sure I emphasized the word ‘not’.

“Yeah, right. You know I’ll always accept whoever or whatever you are Taeng. You’re my best buddy.” He rested his arms on my shoulder and I’m already used to it. Right, best buddy zoned.
