“Hello, my name is Bae Juhyun. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

The girl in front of Juhyun sat straight and still as a rock. Juhyun put her notes down on the table separating them and smiled mildly at the girl.

“I have candy. Do you want one? Which one do you like? Caramel or tutti-frutti?”

The girl stared at her intently, so much that made Juhyun felt like her spine turning cold. There’s something odd with this girl. But then again, all of Juhyun’s clients had been odd.

“Don’t want the candy? Mmm… Should we start then?”

“Let’s start with something easy. Can you tell me your name?”

Juhyun already knew her name. But this was the normal procedure. The girl refused to talk to anyone after she’s rescued, and the head of the facility had sent Juhyun to talk to the girl.

 The girl didn’t answer her question. This was also normal for Juhyun. Clients needed someone they could trust. They wouldn’t just suddenly speak up to a stranger.

Juhyun looked outside the window beside them and pointed her finger to a bird hopping through the tree branches. “Look.”

The girl followed her finger and for some moment somehow she seemed so lonely that it made Juhyun wanted to cry. She reached out her hand to the direction of the bird and when it flew farther and couldn’t be seen with their eyes anymore, tears began to roll down the cheeks of the girl.

Juhyun was surprised by this sudden breakdown. She lightly grabbed the girl’s hands and gathered them in hers.

“It’s okay. You can cry. Let out all the sadness inside you. I’m here for you”

The girl sobbed even harder and now her whole body was shaking. Juhyun held her hands tighter and when finally she lifted her head, her eyes met Juhyun’s.

“I want to be friend with you. I want to talk to you. You can tell me everything and I’ll hear you out. No worry here, you’re safe and sound. Let’s start again, my name is Juhyun. Do you mind telling me your name?”

The girl hiccupped and while wiping her eyes and nose, she mouthed slowly.

My first time writing red velvet fic without male idol character. I was surprised actually I did write this. Initially, I wrote this for my Joy-centric collection but it turned out too long and too angsty so yeah I made new story.
