Looking back on it, it shouldn’t have taken her by surprise. She knew it was coming, but somehow managed to forget about it.

She played with the corners of the envelope, already starting to look crumpled after touching it for the past ten minutes. Letting out a loud sigh, she decided she had postponed opening it for too long. It wasn’t like the envelope would suddenly disappear, or that the words inside would change. She had to confront it.

Scolding herself internally for her slightly shaking hands, she finally opened the envelope and unfolded the letter inside. She started reading the first sentence out loud.

“Dear Moon Byulyi, we are happy to invite you to the 10-Year Reunion of The Class of 92’!”

She skipped the next few paragraphs, she could read those details later. She looked for the list of already confirmed classmates, searching for one name specifically. She held her breath as she checked out the list.

As expected, almost at the end of the list, was the name she had hoped not to find there.
