Wendy must’ve been going crazy.

No.

Surely, she was going crazy.

From the moment she took a drunk Irene home and from the moment she stared into those deep brown eyes; Wendy knew she was going crazy.

Irene’s words from the lake stuck to her like glue.  And that promise she made; it might’ve seemed like nothing to Irene, but to Wendy, it meant everything.

‘Wendy, the sun may leave us in the dark, but you can’t forget about the moon.’

‘Someday, the sun in your world will rise again.’

‘I promise.’

The feeling she felt when she was with Irene was familiar, but at the same time, it was foreign.

This was not new to Wendy.

But maybe it was.

    Wendy had always been a bold person; flirting with people she barely knew and what not. So she had no problem asking Irene,

“Do you like girls?”

Irene paused and blinked rapidly.

She stopped blinking and cleared .

“Uh….”

Wendy chuckled and looked away from Irene.

“You don’t have to answer that if it makes you uncomfortable,” the younger girl said.

Irene internally huffed.

‘I swear to God I’m gonna have a heart attack because of this little girl one day.’

“Well...there is someone who’s caught my interest,” she stated. Wendy looked at Irene with an arched eyebrow.

“And who might that person be?” she asked.

Irene stuttered. “Uh...uh...a girl?”

‘I can’t confess when I’m still confused about everything.’

There was a silence that followed right after. Irene tried to figure out what to do do with Wendy in her purple paradise of a home.

“Oh! You wanna see my room? It has the most amount of purple in my room,” Irene said.

“Oh my God Irene what’s up with you and purple?”

    Wendy received a pleasant surprise when she walked into Irene’s room. No, she wasn’t surprised because of the amount of purple in the room, but because of the art prints posted onto the walls. They were framed and covered practically all of the walls. Some of them were cartoon characters, paintings of galaxies, moons, suns. Wendy found them all so beautiful

“Wow..who made these?” Wendy asked, her eyes wandering around the room.

“I did,” Irene replied and sat on her purple sheets clad bed, letting her feet dangle off the edge,

Wendy’s head snapped towards Irene in surprise.

“You did?! Irene, plagiarism is wrong, you know,” Wendy said and shut the wooden door.

“I’m telling you I made themm! I worked as an animator before I got fired,” Irene replied. She felt a headache coming on when she thought about the fact that she got fired.

Wendy stood in front of a  canvas painting of a moon and looked closely at it. With different cool colors blended together in the background, the painted stars seemingly dancing behind the beautifully painted moon, the painting was beautiful.

In the top right corner of the canvas were words written in pretty white Korean letters:

‘I’ll be your moon, Wendy.’

Wendy could’ve sworn she felt a little flip inside her stomach when she read those words.

“Wait, Wendy which painting are you looking at?” Irene asked, panic stirring inside of her when she remembered her most recent painting.

“Rene, was this painting your most recent one?” Wendy asked and pointed at the painting.
