IM BACK!

Description

Si-Jin decides to pay a visit to the doctor after weeks of being away.

Foreword

Si-Jin decides to be playful and pays a visit to his favourite doctor.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

It’s not everyday that he has literally nothing to do. To not wear that heavy army uniform and lug around those heavy equipment everywhere he went. Si-Jin could feel himself relax as he parked his car in the car park. He’s finally back in Korea after a gruelling eight hour flight across the globe in the army plane.

He checks his reflection on the shiny screen in Haesung hospital.  He’s casually dressed in a simple grey t-shirt with a pair of jeans and a cap that covered his thick head of hair. He looked around the pristine hospital, walking around the lobby and seeing the familiar faces, it felt like a second home. He’s been here so many times he’d almost considered renting an apartment nearby.

Si-Jin smiled as he read the notice board in the ward. It was doctor Kang’s shift. He’d waited five long tiring weeks for this. Every night before he goes to bed, whether he was in the middle of the muddy forest, or in the rough barracks, he imagined himself back in Korea back in the arms of his pretty girlfriend. And now he was finally back.

“Si-Jin, is that you?” asked Chi Hoon.

The tall boy quickly approached him with that permanent smirk on his face.

“Oh. You didn’t see me here,” muttered Si-Jin softly.

The young doctor broke into a wide smile and gave the older man a wink. “Doctor Kang just finished surgery. She’ll be at the recovery area in a few minutes.”

“Thanks,” he mumbled. He can only imagine how annoyed Mo-Yeon must be, especially after finishing a surgery. It’ll just make the surprise even better.

“So are you going to surprise her again? This is so romantic. This is like a romantic movie I just saw. Oh. I envy you guys so much. You guys have such an incredible love story.”

Si-Jin chuckled. So that is what is it eh, an incredible love story.

“So how is she?”

 “Doctor Kang?”

Si-Jin nodded. Sometimes he wonders how this draft boy could possibly be a doctor.

“She’s been particularly moody. Nurse Ja-ae said it was because she misses her boyfriend terribly. But now that you’re here, I bet you can make it all better right,” said Chi Hoon raising his eyebrows mischievously at Si-Jin.

Si-Jin laughed. “I hope so.”

It’s far too late now to back out from the surprise.

“Chi Hoon. I think I need you help.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

Doctor Kang Mo-yeon, read the badge on top of her white doctor coat. Mo-yeon smiled as she starred at it for a while on the mirror. Every time she finished a surgery, she would stare at the badge for a full minute, reminding herself of why she took this job in the first place. To save lives.

The operation she had just finished was a roaring success. The patient had suffered a rough accident which resulted in internal bleeding, he almost died in the operating table, but luckily she was quick on her feet, saving the life of the patient.

She took out her phone and checks for messages. Her eyes linked to the display picture of her boyfriend smiling widely for the camera. Still no word from him. Mo-yeon sighed. This was one of the disadvantage of being the girlfriend of a soldier. The constant worry.

She pressed the icon of Si-Jin’s picture.

“Oh what’s this?”

The header on the screen showed that Si-Jin was active mere minutes ago. Mo-yeon raised her eyebrow, why hadn’t he massaged first when he got signal. Now she’s even more worried.

She starred at it for a while, hoping that the header would change to online.

“Paging doctor Kang. Paging doctor Kang. We need you at Ward 3.”

The doctor cursed under her breath. “This is doctor Kang. I’m in the bathroom. I’ll be there shortly.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

“So what’s the problem?” asked Mo-yeon as she approached Chi Hoon.

“Uh. I don’t know what is it. I asked everyone in the office, they told me to ask you. You specialize in this type of things,” rambled Chi Hoon nervously.

Mo-yeon shot the younger doctor a glare. He knows to only bother her when it’s really rare and special cases.

“The patient?”

“Oh. He’s resting behind the curtain. The disease is so revolting that the nurses are scared that it will infect them. Its really that serious.”

Mo-yeon starred at Chi Hoon in disbelief. “Don’t say that. What if he heard you.”

“Sorry. I’ll watch my mouth better next time.”

Mo-yeon nodded. “Come on let me take a look.”

She quickly pushed the curtains away from the bed. Doctor Mo-yeon could feel her heart beating loudly against her chest, she didn’t understand it but she knew something was amiss.

“Finally a doctor.”

“Si-Jin… “

Mo-yeon almost dropped to the floor, she felt her heart stopped as she saw her boyfriend when she tore the curtains. “What… What are you doing here?”

Si-Jin broke into his mischievous grin. “I just want to get treatment. Do you know a doctor that I can think of?”

Recovering from her shock, Mo-yeon mustered every ounce of will power not to charge at her boyfriend. She knows if the patients saw her like this they would think she was being unprofessional. And she had earned the respect of the patients and doctors and nurses around. She quickly bit her lips, trying her best to hide the powering emotions that was in her right now.

“Chi Hoon, can you give us a moment please,” said Mo-yeon to her intern.

“Aw. I want to see how this turns up,” he pouted. “I helped Si-Jin with his plan. Can I see how it ends please?”

“Out,” Mo-yeon pushed the excited intern from the perimeter.

“Fine. But I still want to know.”

Once the couple were alone, Si-Jin could not help but smile from cheek to cheek at the vision in front of him. He waited long and hard for this view. He no longer has to imagine about her. His beautiful girlfriend was standing only a few centimetres away from him. And she looked beautiful as always.

He knows Mo-yeon was mad. He could tell. She wasn’t starring back at him. Instead, looking at her feet like a nervous girl.

“Uh what are your symptoms?” said Mo-yeon, making her way quickly to his bedside.

“Uh. I think I have a high fever. I can’t sleep. Cold sweats at night. I feel cold and warm at the same time. Urgh, it’s a nightmare,” explained Si-Jin dramatically.

Mo-yeon tut, shooting a glare at Si-Jin. The soldier gulped.

“Let me check you,” said Mo-yeon, placing the back of her hand on Si-Jin’s forehead.

It was electric the moment their skin touched. Mo-yeon couldn’t help but blushed as she felt the sensations ran down her spine. To make it worse she could practically feel Si-Jin’s intense eyes starring at her, observing her every more.

“I don’t think you’re feverish,” said Mo-yeon, placing her hand in the pockets of her coat.

“Ah,” groaned Si-jin, “I think you’re checking the wrong thing. You should check something else.”

Mo-yeon raised her eyebrows at her boyfriend.

“Okay patient. What do you think I should check?” she asked curiously.

“My heart.”

Mo-yeon was never more embarrassed by the statement. She covered with her hand. She was more than sure that she was turning bright pink right now. And she knew that was the exact reaction her boyfriend wanted. Si-Jin broke into a wide smile.

She couldn’t let him win.

Especially not after the stupid prank he just pulled.

“That’s really bad. I think you should go to the psychiatric department-”

“How are you?” he interrupted, starring deeply into Mo-yeon’s eyes.

The doctor couldn’t hold it anymore, she had tried her best, but now she’s going to crumble into a mushy pile of nerves. She blushed a million shades of red. She could feel her heart exploding out of her chest. She wanted to cry right now in happiness but at the same time she wanted to bash her boyfriend’s head.

“When did you get here?” she scolded.

“Uh.” Si-Jin stammered. “Last night.”

“I don’t believe this,” scolded Mo-yeon again, wrapping her arms tightly in front of her chest.

“Hey. I thought you would be happy with the surprise,” said Si-Jin, slightly confused by the turn of events.

Mo-yeon looked away. “My shift will be over in an hour. Please kindly wait at the lobby or waiting area. Or else I’ll call security on you.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

“Are you still not talking to me?” asked Si-Jin, darting his eyes away from the road and glancing at his girlfriend on the passenger’s seat.

Mo-yeon ignored her boyfriend and continued starring at the passing street.

“So you’re still mad?”

The doctor shifted lightly in her seat.

Si-Jin sighed. “And here I thought I was being romantic.”

“Turn left after this street. There is a night market that I want to go to,” said Mo-yeon pointing to the sign on the street ahead of them.

“Uh.” Si-Jin quickly steered exactly as Mo-yeon ordered. He knew not to get anymore of her bad side.

“At least you’re talking to me-”

“That was the lamest thing you've said in a while."

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

Done.

Hope you enjoyed it.
