 Back at the Kim’s Manor…

Taeyang:         Bummie, wake up your Papa is on the phone…

 Kibum:             (grumbly replies) ok… thanks Mr. Taeyang… (getting the mobile phone from Taeyang)…
                         Yes, Papa good morning too…  Yes… I have checked the latest result yesterday – there
                          is not much of a change, the variations do not affect our total business output thus
                          maintaining its forecasted profit results thus maintaing its current selling price – but let me
                          check again today, we will never know…

                         I am free as of this time, sure Papa but make sure you give them a brief background as to
                         who they are going to meet with because the last time, they felt awkward in my presence.
                         Don’t you think it is a bad idea if I need to represent you this early in business meetings?
                         Yes, I agree with that possibility – alright if you’re thinking that way then I don’t mind. So
                         where is the meeting place this time? Oh ok – not far too much. Fine then, just send me
                         the agenda of the meeting to review it. If there are things I need to do, please let me 
                         know.

                        Yes, Papa – that soon?! I thought I will be finishing till the end of the term? Do Dad and
                        Mom know about it? Hhhmmm … I suggest you let them know – I would not want to upset
                        them. Hold on Papa, if it is alright – can you spare me some more time and after that – I
                        solely focus on your request?

                        Thanks Papa and let me know when the meeting is… Bye bye – I love you too (hangs up
                        the phone and calls Taeyang)… Mr. Taeyang, I am done with the phone… I will sleep a
                        little bit more, wake me up after three hours, please…

 Taeyang:         Yes, Bummie

Three hours have passed; Taeyang enters Kibum’s room to wake him up – unpredictably finding him working on his laptop – approaches and greets Kibum. Kibum seeing Taeyang signals him to come closer…

Taeyang:         what is it Bummie?

 Kibum:             Mr. Taeyang, I need a favor to ask from you?

 Taeyang:         Please let me know what you’d like me to do?

 Kibum:             Please I will appreciate if you will be beside me at all times. I will inform Daddy and
                         Mommy so that they find somebody to replace you in this house. I apologize for the 
                         suddenness but we won’t be having much time and Papa needs me – as to when – he will
                         let us know; but for now, all we need to do is to wait.

 Taeyang:         Are you sure about this Bummie? It is alright by me – I will be by your side till the rest of
                         my life, please do not doubt me on that account.

 Kibum:             Thank you very much Mr. Taeyang. I know I can count on you.

 Taeyang:         Bummie, if you allow me. Can I ask – you don’t have to answer if you feel uncomfortable
                         with it?

                       Kibum:             what’s your concern, Mr. Taeyang?

                      Taeyang:          I am just bothered by your wellness, Bummie. You’re at this stage where you need to
                                               enjoy life and not these insurmountable pressures – goodness Bummie you are a 15-year
                                               old teen-ager turning 16 but you’re leading a life that of a 40-year old person.  I mean, you
                                               are like a son to me – I am sorry for acting too familiar but I really treat you like a son.

                          I am probably your number one fan too. I admire how gifted you are that it’s ironic to say 
                          that it pains me all the same seeing how you have to deal with enormous overwhelming
                          demands. I can’t seem to understand why they have to extremely push you that early… I
                          am sorry Bummie but I have watched you grow and I just don’t understand…

 Kibum:             (hugs Taeyang) Thank you Mr. Taeyang – really from the bottom of my heart… I didn’t
                         expect you showing so much concern. I am fine really – I have managed to accept things
                         around me and quite adapted to it. I can’t just let things go off beam – my parents and
                         grandpa sure have sacrificed a lot to maintain whatever they have now and I will be
                         someday continuing it.

                         I can’t just simply deny everything happening around me – though I can choose to ignore
                         them that would mean being selfish. We have responsibilities to take care of – the trade
                         and people working for my parents and grandpa – these are the ones that push me to
                         move forward.

                         However, sometimes, I wish I can move freely and be normal like others – at times I envy
                          Minho and Taeminnie. I love their carefree lifestyle – I wish I can be allowed to be like
                         that – but… I don’t mind really, Mr. Taeyang… I love my parents and grandpa. I am willing
                         to do all these things for them and others. I know it is going to be hard – but let’s see what
                         will happen.

                     Taeyang:         Bummie, you are such an obedient child…

                     Kibum:             (smiles slightly wicked) Oh Mr. Taeyang – I got some mischievous manners under my
                                             sleeve – hehehe – you’ll see…

 Taeyang:         (furrows his eyebrows) hmmm… really? I can’t wait… so what was the call all about?

 Kibum:             Mr. Taeyang – oh yes, please arrange my flight to Japan. Papa needs me to handle a
                         very important meeting. We need to get there in less than two hours. I am going to get
                         myself ready as soon as possible. By the way, could you arrange fireworks for me too –
                         remember, I will be seeing Minnie and Taeminnie later this afternoon.

 Taeyang:         Ok Bummie.

“Oh… I need to call Mom” (grabs his mobile then call his mother)

                      Kibum:             Mommy, good morning!

 Jessica:           Oh, Hi sweetie morning too – what can I do for you?

 Kibum:             Oh Mom – nothing really – just letting you know, I am going to see Papa today. It is about
                         a meeting he requested me to join him. I will be back soonest possible.

 Jessica:           (tsks...) my…my… hmmm Daddy has put you into a lot of mess lately?

 Kibum:             (laughs) I don’t know Mom, he didn’t tell me the purpose of the meeting. But he did
                         mention finishing my term. Mom I hope we could meet and talk.

 Jessica:           Sure – I will see you as soon as possible but Daddy is really pushing you too much. So
                         where are you heading at?

 Kibum:             In Japan – I need to be there in fewer two hours. By the way, Mom…?

 Jessica:           Yes, sweetie…

 Kibum:             After the meeting, I will go to Minho’s place and spend the night there. I will request Mr.
                         Taeyang to accompany me so you and Daddy don’t have to worry. Ok?

 Jessica:           Sweetie – ok, I will let Daddy know. Extend my regards to your Aunt Sooyoung and Uncle
                         Leeteuk and also, we need to get ready with your upcoming birthday – oh I am so
                         excited…

 Kibum:             Oh Mommy – you really don’t have to. I mean we can just have a quiet family dinner.

 Jessica:           (gasps) NO WAY!! Bummie – I have put up with agreeing with your boring wishes for
                         having to celebrate your birthday in private sessions – Oh sweetie, which is so lame – you
                         know. I want you to have fun and us, your parents, as well… NO – NO and YES – YES to
                         grand party… I won't have your way this time Bummie - sweetie... NO WAY!! you hear...

 Kibum:             (shakes his head) Mommy – ok… ok… no need to be agitated. I know Daddy and you
                          have been far too long insisting me to celebrate a grand birthday.

 Jessica:           (sighs) oohhh… finally – I thought, we are going to have another in-house boring
                         Bummie’s Birthday celebration again… Thank you – Sweetie. Mommy is happy – I will
                         hang up now – I am going to call your Daddy right away for the breaking news hi hi hi… 
                         (squealing in happiness) oh – this is going to be fun. I love you sweetie…bye…see you…
                         (cuts the line)

 Kibum:             Bye Mommy, I love you… aayyooo…

Talking to himself, he says;

"Aaissshhh… I really don’t need a huge party. I don’t know what they are going to do. Mommy is really contradicting – she doesn’t like Dad and Papas’ flamboyancy and yet she does it to me all the same. Sure my family really is weird…huh…  "
