Chapter 9-            Chronicles of the Past…Minho’s Family unfolds…

     Leeteuk and Sooyoung

     Destined Meeting

Point in time:       No Point In Time – rather One Busy Hot Day

                              Sooyoung – age 24 and Leeteuk – age 25

Location:              A Grand Celebration at Heechul’s Mansion

“Leeteuk! Leeteuk! Leeteuk!”

“Am over here!” Where I am supposed to go, I wonder. Yap, this is me. I am a part time newscaster and a writer – hey, not that I don’t like it. I love doing this hobby of mine aside from the things I do seriously and that is, my business. I am a sports caster – obviously delivering reports about sports but I don’t know what gotten into my boss’s mind to let me attend a party for the – I don’t know what… and what am I going to do there – I exactly am in wonder!

Choi Leeteuk is a part-time successful sportscaster as he loves sports and to be so involved with it – he took a part time job that made him very popular in Korea’s world of sports. An only son in the family – he has taken over his parent’s successful businesses at a young age as he was taught on how to handle them in his teen years. He is a very good looking man – adored by several women who know him.  He’s got passion for designing wrist watches – it is his guilty pleasure – much to the surprise of his parents; he transformed that hobby into something quite profitable – a time maker.

“Who in a world of sports casting would attend a party for the mega rich people – isn’t it silly if I find them playing soccer or dodge ball in that case”

Boss:               Leeteuk, you need to attend this!

Leeteuk:          And why am I being bothered by this kind of activity – it is not even in my league – I’d imagine myself lying
                        on a hammock for  boredom.

Boss:               Aaaww, be good now Leeteuk, I know this is not a major thing case for you but it so happens that the
                        owner of this company is the person who wants this to happen and he, Mr. JP is not just somebody…ok?

Leeteuk:          And why me not you?

Boss:               First; you are good-looking. Second; you are a businessman and third; you are just good looking

Leeteuk:          Tsk!... Who is JP? By the way...

Boss:               I have not seen him only heard of him… You don’t want to know as you might not be able to grasp the
                        largeness of life of who Mr. JP is.

Leeteuk:          Really…hhhhmmm pretty interesting…

Boss:               And you will have some company… a lady!

Leeteuk:          Whhaht?! Now, why despise me – so I babysit?

Boss:               What?! Again is your problem – are you into something lately?

Leeteuk:          Why do I need to be with somebody? I can go by myself!

Leeteuk dispute with his boss turn into silence when

Sooyoung:       Do I hear some negative reactions from your side?

Leeteuk:          (Suddenly surprised and turns to search for the voice – and puffs in amazement by who he sees)
                        Ooohhh…you are beautiful!

Boss:               Sooyoung, let me introduce to you Leeteuk – your companion for the party

Sooyoung:       So happy you not to want me to be with you!

Leeteuk:          Oh me not to join me – I don’t think so!

Boss:               Leeteuk – oh yeah… now can I leave and have fun chatting…

As soon as Leeteuk’s boss leaves; he turns his attention to Sooyoung – who is currently in the state of dispute with herself as to why she needs to be attending a party for elite business people when her job concentrates in featuring sport personalities.

Sooyoung; a beautiful successful woman in her own rights has climbed to fame due to her immense talent and charm. Her mother recognized her skills in designing clothes – at a young age started working as a professional model for clothes and used the opportunity to meet designers and learned from their experiences.  Took designing as a professional course in college and specialized on it; apart from that, she was discovered and became and still a sports anchorwoman and a feature writer for sports – had she thought it would be on the same category anyway. She was able to establish her own boutiques stores at 10 branches all over Korea and some parts of the world. She is adored by several women as an inspiration following her footsteps and by men dreaming to be with her as a lifetime partner.

Later that day, she got a call from her superior requesting her to attend a special occasion – an event too far from what she practices – she objected however unfortunate to sway the superior’s decision. She saying, “Do I really have to attend this party? Anyway, just go Sooyoung – luck is either good or bad – you will never know what will happen? And who is this guy who will accompany me. He (boss) said we are in the similar line of work and popular – better being not a dim-witted or a conceited fool – it would surely make my day a one-heck-of-a-rollercoaster-ride of agony.

Now face-to-face with the guy she says.

Sooyoung:       (takes a deep breath) So I heard you are pretty popular? I never realized how you managed to skip the
                        basics of social ethics – ranting to someone whom you have not met – regardless – it is a she.

Leeteuk:          (confronted with such beauty – he’s acting to be cool goes out of the window and acts as normal as 
                        possible) uuhhh… I apologize for my improper behavior, Ms. Sooyoung. It is just that I don’t know what
                        has gotten to my boss mind’s - given that am not a full-time member of staff here – he has asked me to 
                        attend this as he stated, “A Very Important Event” – what do I even have to do with it.

Sooyoung:       (surprised by his reply) Oh my, my so we have the same illogically undefined predicament – I too was
                        asking myself on my way here – but guess what; it may sound intriguing, I believe something good might 
                        happen.

Leeteuk:          Wow quite optimistic, are we?

Sooyoung:       Stop your over dramatically comments – duh?

Leeteuk:          Fine then, anyway since we are here – care for a cup of coffee?

Sooyoung:       Well, so the table has changed?

Leeteuk:          Way to forgive my stupidity…

Sooyoung:       Oh via coffee?

Leeteuk:          Have something better in your mind?

Sooyoung:       Nah – coffee is just fine.

The night of the event comes, Leeteuk proceeds to the hotel where Sooyoung is checked in to fetch her. At lobby’s hotel; Leeteuk let out a deep sigh wondering if life is starting to give him hints of an unexpected better future – he ponders and said, “I would not mind – I think this somehow feels good”. Suddenly, a hotel staff comes to tell him that Ms. Sooyoung will come down in a matter of minute. Upon hearing this – an intense feeling of excitement wraps his whole being and the said, “Yeah, I would not mind”.  Then a sweet voice oh so familiar calls his name,

Sooyoung:       Leeteuk, Leeteuk

Leeteuk:          (Caught in a sudden trance of astonishment – eyes-wide fixed watching Sooyoung like  an angel walking
                        down the stairs; he slips back – without having second thoughts blurts out) Do you believe in destiny?

Sooyoung:       (Bewildered by Leeteuks’s statement) what did you say?

Leeteuk:          Ahhh…I mean, yes you are right about something

Sooyoung:       and that is?

Leeteuk:          Something good might just happen…

Sooyoung:       Silly, let’s go… (and lets out a chuckle)

On their way to the party, Leeteuk could not stop himself glancing at the beautiful smiling creature next to him.  Words can not simply express the mixed feeling he is having right now – all that makes him understand is – he can not let this wonderful chance passes by.  He was thanking someone up above, for the game of luck is on his side – apparently getting out of the way of awkwardness is pretty easy – all the while he was anticipating a boring discussion but turns out to be a very lively and fun conversation. It feels invigorating and the whole atmosphere is so relax – sailing smoothly. And so he decides – regardless of the outcome – it is a tough resolution, and it will either make-or-break him.

Leeteuk:          Uuuhmm… so Ms. Sooyoung?

Sooyoung:       Now, cut with those formalities – just call me Sooyoung.

Leeteuk:          Alright; Sooyoung, after this whole party thing, can I formally invite you to dinner?

Sooyoung:       Oh, sounds like a date!

Leeteuk:          Well? (waiting anxiously for her reply)

Sooyoung:       (turns to face him with a look of doubt) Is this how your strategy works to get ladies under your spell?
                         According to my theory popular guys like you; “desired by women,” are quite a parody of always having
                         your hands full most of the time.  So don’t expect me to be in one of your “Dream Team Series”.

Leeteuk:          (desperately sounding) They come to me. In all honesty, this is the first time – am asking properly.

Sooyoung:       (secretly smiling) Hmm… let me think it over – the night is still young.

Leeteuk:          (let out a loud exhale) Thank you…

Sooyoung:       I would appreciate it if you act relax and normal with me – that way, I will find it easy to just go with the
                        flow – you know?

Leeteuk:          Oh… (shows a wide grin for relief) great!!

Sooyoung:       Yeah… (turns once again to face him and winks)
