what they are

Life points are essential to your survival in the game. Without them you will not be able to access our Equip shop which holds a variety of select items that will help you on your quest, nor will you be able to advance. You must return to this thread every Saturday to check your Life Points percentage by your characters name to make sure you are keeping them up. Simply put, without life points you'll die, with Life points you'll thrive.

bedlam inst. asylum

Ghosts, demonic entities

SINCE IT'S OPENING, THERE HAD BEEN SPECULATIONS REVOLVING THE PSYCHIATRISTS OF BEDLAM INSTITUTION. IT WAS SAID THAT THEY HAD BEEN PERFORMING CRUEL AND UNUSUAL EXPERIMENTS ON THEIR PATIENTS IN AN ATTEMPT TO REMOVE THEIR HYSTERIAS. ALL THE WHILE USING INHUMAN WAYS OF TORTURE FOR MISBEHAVING PATIENTS, WHICH CAUSED A LOT OF DEATH AND DESPAIR. RUMOR HAS IT THAT A PSYCHIATRIST STOOPED AS LOW AS EMBARKING ON SATANIC RITUALS. OPENING THE DOORS OF THE ASYLUM TO THE MALIGNANT ENTITIES THAT NOW ROAM THROUGH THE CORRIDORS; TORMENTING THOSE WHO DARE STEP INTO THE INSTITUTION. RESULTING IN VISITORS CLAIMING SIMILAR SYMPTOMS TO THOSE OF PRIOR PATIENTS. WHETHER IT'S ALL TRUTH OR JUST COMMON HEARSAY, NO ONE KNOWS.

WHY NOT TAKE THE RISK AND SEE IF YOU CAN CONQUER THIS LOCATION UNSCATHED? ARE YOU BRAVE ENOUGH?

the dali village

Over forty-five years ago a famine surged through the Dali Village, a dreadful disease infected many of the townspeople. Their bodies deteriorating at rapid rates until they laid on their death beds. They all died, however; this disease lead to a ghastly phenomenon. Gradually, one by one started to awaken possessing an insatiable preference for human souls. Once their victim falls into a feral crawler’s clutches the feeding process begins. The victims must attempt to avoid eyes containing gleaming opaque orbs that render them immobile for a short but agonizing length of time. With jaws that expand heinously wide, they consume their prey’s lifeforce. Once ripped of their souls, the empty shell left behind slips into a deep slumber. From the moment they wake up, they will have two weeks to consume two souls in order to regain their humanity. If they fail to accomplish this task, they will descend upon a dark path of carnage and cannibalism, the stage where they themselves become a Feral Crawler. At which point, you would be kicked out from the roleplay.

What is the interesting plot twist in this location, you ask? Well in this case, the victim is you. Let’s see how long you can hold on to that precious soul of yours.

Ranks and privileges

This roleplay is meant for members who wish to improve their writing in all genres. Going up in rank means you have taken up and surpassed all the writing challenges and missions given to you by us admins. Promototions will be given to those who we feel are demonstrating progress in their creative writing, grammar and vocabulary.

Promotions will happen on the last day of every month. It will be posted as an event and only those with the proper qualifications and desire for progression, will be given the choice of attending the event. Only those with the qualifications will receive the invitation. Once again getting promoted is your choice. You may choose not to level up and just stay in your rank. However, remember that the higher the rank, the better the privileges will become, and the closer you will get to unveiling the truth behind the events that take place within the game and what lead to its creation. Scroll down to view the ranks and its privileges.

☣ Recruit

Beginner's starting rank, you will start your journey at Bedlam Institutional Asylum. No privileges. Must complete a total of five missions, and have a total of five completed threads with fellow gamers to move up to Novice.

☣ Novice

Preliminary stage of the game, in this stage you will have more of a chance to explore your surroundings. You will be given one privilege; the choice to stay in the game or be executed. With this privilege you will get to choose one admin to talk to, concerning your choice. Plus the bonus of asking the admin a single question about the game. Must complete a total of eight missions as a Novice, as well as eight completed threads to become a Subordinate. **The eight completed threads include the five threads completed as a Recruit.

☣ Subordinate

Stage in where you will get slight recognition for your effort. But will have your limits tested. This is the Rank where you move on to your next location which will be the Dali Village. Whether you are a true fighter, or crumble under the pressure will be up to you. Privileges include: permission to have an open relationship (it is mandatory that all relationships be open, no exceptions.) You must inform the admins of this occurrence, and accept any and all mischievous acts conducted by the creators. Must complete a total of ten new completed missions and ten completed threads to become a Tactician. **The ten completed threads include the eight threads completed as a Novice.

☣ Tactician

The fourth stage where you will face greater challenges and far greater horrors. You will be under scrutinizing surveillance by us admins. By this stage you will be expected to have a certain quality that meets our standards. The privileges given to a Tactician are the access to our Equip Shop and the opportunity to suggest someone to us for a demotion. Must have a total of new fifteen completed missions, and fifteen completed threads to become a Commander. **The fifteen completed threads include the ten threads completed as a Subordinate.

☣ Commander

The fifth stage, you are now amongst the two highest ranks, and it is where you move to the next location the Winslow Manor. Commanders are the second in line to write with the Legenderies, because of your writing quality. By now your posts should have little to no grammatical errors, basically you must meet our expectations by now, to be more specific. Privileges include the freedom to choose two out of three options. Suggest someone you think should get promoted, a free Safezone orb, or choose to speak with one of the creators once more in order to receive clues. However, keep in mind that this option might backfire depending on our moods. Must have a total of new eighteen completed missions, and eighteen completed threads to become a Berserker. **The eighteen completed threads include the fifteen completed as a Tactician.

☣ Berserker

The final stage, you have reached the highest rank. At this point you are to be respected by the ranks beneath you, and are the first in line to write with the Legendaries. It will, however; be the hardest rank to maintain. If we admins see that you are letting your title get to your head and are neglecting to make any effort in your writing or in your activity in our roleplay, you will be demoted or just kicked out. You are held up with high esteem and are expected to set an example for the ones of lower rank.

Privileges for Berserker include two free items from our Equip Shop every month as long as you maintain your title as Berserker. The chance to suggest one person for demotion and one for promotion. We will carefully consider your suggetions. The only rank that will be able to hold a closed relationship (keep in mind that you can only have a closed relationship with another Berserker.) To maintain your title, you must continue to complete missions given to you by the admins, as well as continue to remain active at least three times a week, which means posting plots.

You will have the opportunity to unlock one of the secured secret locations. Both hold their own storylines, and belong to the admins. One belongs to Hyun Bin and the other belongs to Hae Jin. Only you will be able to enter the group for the location you choose. It is exclusive only to you and other Berserkers. In these locations you hold the privilege to gain bonus Lifepoints that you may use for yourself, or for another person of your choice. If you have unlocked a secured area you must remain active and complete three posts a month.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Is the game taking place in real life? Or is it a virtual reality world that people get into?

Answer: The game is not like a normal video game. It is indeed played in real life. You do not get into a virtual reality, you find a video game case just like any other game and that's what makes people think its harmless. You can put the game's disc into a console or a computer like any other game but when your character chooses to play the game, the screen will go black. He/she will simply wake up the next day in the Bedlam Asylum with no knowledge as to how they got there. Holograms will show you your stats and the game play as you go on.

Question: How are your loved ones threatened? Like do they get pulled into the game with you or are they kidnapped or do they not even know that their lives are on the line as you play?

Answer: Your characters loved ones will not know that their lives are on the line. The creator of the game has his means of doing things, how? No one knows.

Question: Do characters have weapons or armor while within the game?

Answer: Things such as armor or weaponry would be found in the Equip Shop, as of now there are no such things, but we do plan on adding to it as time progresses. Remember that the Equip Shop only comes into play when you become a Novice. So in your password you cannot mention it just yet. You are just describing the moment you got the game and the moment you woke up in the Asylum.

Question: While playing the game, is it possible to contact people in the outside world?

Answer: You will not be able to contact anyone from the outside unless the creators feel generous, or for that matter, rather cynical.

Yes I have, but he asked me to tell him how it is before he joins.

The rain hit the windows nonstop in a drumming pattering sound while the darkness made the bedroom gloomy. The only illuminating lights that show are the lightning flashes and the end of his cigarette lighting a red glow on his fave when he took in a drag. Hoseok's gaze fixated on the ground while staring down at his phone to await for his friend to call him. Rubbing the lighter that he gave him on his twenty third birthday.

"Babe? Come to bed. It's getting late."

A female voice resonated into his ears, but he just sat there staring at his phone. Wondering when he will call him, his thoughts ruined by feeling hands on his bare and scarred skin from his shoulders to his chest. Not really in the mood for his fifth girlfriend's bull about coming to bed and that he will call later. Hoseok just ignored her, especially when he did get a phone call finally. Quickly answering, but what he got was not a happy "hello" but more of the lines of:

"I'm sorry to inform you that your friend has been a severe car accident and died."

Now, here he sits ten weeks later after breaking up with his seventh girlfriend, in his bedroom while staring at a disc he stole from his friend's family. The name of it sounded so foreign to Hoseok.

Genshō.

A Japanese title in red marker on a blank CD case with a regular disc inside of it. Blinking at it as he got up from the bed to get it. Sighing heavily as he shrugged his shoulders a bit whilst tilting his head to the left side.

"Maybe later I can play it."

Hoseok thought after signing online to do his job for web designing for his clients. Humming lightly as he let the hours pass until midnight when he finished up the design. Sending it in and then stretches, moving his gaze to the CD case. Grabbing it and opening it up to get the disc out. Blinking at how blank it is on top. Shrugging his shoulders, Hoseok popped it in after ejecting the door open.

"Click to play or click exit to leave."

Without any thought, he clicked on the play text that glowed a red. He became angry within second when nothing popped up. Huffing as he thought "what a crock of ." Thus leaving the "game" inside of the computer. Not really caring about it anymore as he got up to get something to eat, shower and sleep.

"You're so ing bad! Are you actually dumb? Do you have the IQ of a pretzle? My dead grandmother could do better than you- and she's ing dead, dude." Jun's voice hisses across the headset, and across his moderately sized house.

He was grouchy, part of it was contributed to by his growling stomach. For the past day, probably more, Jun found himself playing console games. He was fiercely competitive, hence his imaturity with his losing comrades at the moment.

" it, I need a goddamn break." He slings his headset off, tossing the controller along with it. It's hard to fathom how he, an adult, allows games to rile him up so much. He was twenty-three, navigating his way through college and life- with the financial support of his well endowed parents.

He left his livingroom, traveling to the kitchen.

"Noon already?" His eyes, however, left the closck to rise to meet the window. He could see his entire front yard, and the charcoal colored cadilac pulling up in-front of his mailbox.

"What the ?" Jun grunts, smacking the window viciously as someone he definitely didn't know shoved something into his mailbox. His first thought brought him to the cyanide attacks he read about while browsing the internet one day.

He wasn't that important, though. Jun dashed to his front door, slipping on his shoes with ease. He dashed outside, slinging his door open before he ran to the street.

"Damn, I was too slow." He still expected to atleast see the car in the distance- perhaps he lingered on putting on his shoes. Jun turns his attention to the mailbox, opening it to find an evelope with some circular disc inside. The letter itself portrayed more information, in extremely sloppy handwriting.

'Combatibility with Computers.'

"Huh? A game?" He blinks, retreating slowly back to his house, and then his room. His laptop was already set-up, but was sprinkled with dust. He wasn't a PC player- not normally. He swivels up to his desk, signing into his laptop.

"Clout, four, three, and there." He grabbed the letter, tearing the manilla paper with ease.

His fingers scaled across the inflammed title, "Genshō?" It was pretty bland, the disc being black with weirdly colored letters. He then, curiously, inserted the disc.

PLAY? LEAVE.

"Lame." He snorts, scrolling and clicking leave. The application closed, only to reopen with a single option.

PLAY.

"Creepy.." Jun mumbles, excitement beginning to coil in his stomach. A horror genre game, maybe? His tongue peeked from between his lips, his wandering fingers clicking play. Curiosity was an overwhelming emotion.

ENJOY.

His computer, now saying 'unable to read' spit the disc out. "Gay." Jun closed his computer, chunking the disc to the corner of his room. He sighed, losing the satisfaction he previously had.

This is simply a tale, a tale of how curiosity did its best to kill the cat.

The tell-tale sign that the mail had been delivered echoed just outside of Mark’s window with a heavy thud as the mailbox was shut and the vehicle started down the way, it’s loud motor and squeaky tires the only reason he knew that it was indeed the mailman. It was the same hum and squeak he had heard everyday for the past five years of his life in his new home, which for the area he lived in, was a pretty horrible thing to hear everyday. It wasn’t a really upscale neighborhood, but it was a gated community and the neighbors took well to caring and maintaining their manicured lawns to please the Housing Association. Mark though, could care less, but for the sake of not getting evicted from his home, he did what he had to do to make everyone happy and for his home to look like a picture out of the Better Homes & Garden magazine.

With a grunt, he pushed off his bed, legs swinging to the side as he got up and made his way out of his room and down the hall to the staircase. Descending, he took note that his roommates still weren’t home and this was the fourth day that week that he hadn’t seen them. It was becoming a little worrisome, but it wasn’t completely unlike them. Both had girlfriends that they tended to stay the nights with. Both worked and one even had college classes to attend, so it wasn’t too far fetched to say they were just caught up in life and just forgot to come home. As long as they still paid their half of the rent, Mark really didn’t care. He certainly wasn’t able to afford the nice house they lived in on his own. As an aspiring YouTube content creator, it was really a slow going process to get subscribers and views to build up an income that would sustain him for any long periods of time. Which is why he still had his part time job at the local club, DJing on the weekends. It paid pretty good money, but not nearly enough for the lavish life he always imagined he would have.

Moving to the front door, he slipped on a pair of shoes as he unlocked it and stepped out. Taking the three small steps down, he headed down the driveway, towards the mailbox. His eyes scanned the empty road, examining each house nearby and noting that everything seemed so picturesque that it was actually quite sickening. Shaking his head, he moved to stand in front of the mailbox and opened it. He was expecting a few letters and a couple of magazine subscriptions, but what was in there was a strange, large package and upon removal it was addressed to him. It both excited and confused him. The confusion was from the fact that he hadn’t ordered anything new recently, and the excitement stemmed from the fact that he got a package. After all, who didn’t like getting something in the mail that wasn’t trash or bills?

After further examination, it was just the package in the mailbox, which he thought was odd, but it was the middle of the month so it seemed logical that subscription magazines and bills just weren’t being sent yet. Closing the box, he headed back up to the house and inside, kicking the door closed with his foot as he excitedly ripped open the yellow bubble insulated package, tossing the ripped parts to the floor without a care. Reaching in, he pulled out a case. It was the size of a DVD or a video game and it brought even more confusing because there was no title on it. No insert behind the plastic window. It was just black. Dropping the packaging onto the floor, Mark opened the case and inside was a CD with the word GENSHō written on it and below it was the words “PLAY ME”.

With a noise of confusion, Mark made his way back upstairs and to his room and the first thing he did was turn on his DVD player and inserted the CD. When all it did was spin and spin and the notification of “DISC UNREADABLE” popped up on his TV, he realized that this wasn’t a movie to watch. Pulling it out of the DVD player, he took the CD and the case with him to his desk. Sitting down, he booted his computer up as he slapped the case on his desk and something caught his eye. Something white was sticking out of part of the plastic case. Carefully, he grabbed the edge and pulled it out, realizing it was a small piece of paper. One it was a small note written to him and signed by one of his roommates.

‘Hey man, great game. Play it and join the fun.’

Simple, sweet and it made Mark smile, because this roommate knew how much he loved video games and was the self-proclaimed King of all Games. Once his computer on, he put the game in and waited for it to launch. It took forever though, and Mark almost thought it was broken or scratched up too much to be read by the laser disk reader. And just as he was getting ready to eject it from the computer, his screen went black and ‘PLAY’ appeared. With a shrug, he guided his mouse to the button and clicked it. The button went away and the screen turned to a blinding white light and loud static came through his speakers. It was irritating and he felt a headache immediately start to form; pressure building up inside the front of his skull. Yet nothing he did to turn the noise off or even turn the computer off worked. He tried hitting escape, unplugging his speakers and even turning the monitor off. Nothing. It all continued to the point that it became to much for Mark to handle.

He felt warm liquid running down his lip and he reached up, touching around his nose before bringing his hand back, finding blood covering the tips of his fingers. He moved to quickly reach for tissues to stop his nosebleed, but the sudden jerking movement of his body had a wave of dizziness washing over him that seemed to coincide with the static noise getting louder, almost screeching at him. He pushed his chair back and tried to stand to get away, but the dizziness hit him again and he felt his body falling as the world around him went black.
