Kris #6

 “What?!” Luhan yelped incredulous, unable to comprehend this new-found information he just heard from Yuri, who was sitting across the kitchen island from him. “You saw Hwayoung?!”

“Yeah.” Yuri confirmed with a nod of her head. “I saw her a couple of weeks ago.” Yuri had randomly showed up at his apartment maybe 20 minutes ago and as old friends, they were catching up with each other’s lives but suddenly, she dropped the bomb of seeing Hwayoung on him.

“Well, how is she?” The blonde urged for the girl to continued. He had been too curious on Hwayoung's whereabouts and wellbeing. The girl had pretty much disappeared over night without a single trace. Now that he knew she was safe, he was at ease. “Where is she?”

“She’s somewhere and she’s good.” Yuri answered the questions without hesitating, yet not giving much info away. “That’s all you need to know.”

“Come on, Yuri.” Luhan attempted to press, wanting to gain more knowledge of the ‘missing’ girl. “I deserve to know. I’m on her side, you know?”

Yuri and Luhan had an interesting history. They had a little fling back when the two were in college but parted ways sometime later, coincidentally reuniting when Hwayoung and Kris got together. The reunion didn’t spark any old feelings but they always got along well enough to be friends. And even though Yuri didn’t like Kris and his friends, Luhan was one she was close with and trusted. It was the only reason why she told him that she had met Hwayoung. She knew Luhan cared for the pregnant girl like a sister and she knew how worried he was over Hwayoung but Yuri wasn’t going to tell him where Hwayoung was though. 

“I know but Kris is one of your best-friends.” He could swear, get on his knees, and beg but she wasn’t going to reveal Hwayoung’s living location. There was a reason her friend wanted to get away, not letting anyone know of her whereabouts, and Yuri wasn't going to betray her best-friend. “You’re bound to tell him, even if your promise you won’t.”

“I only want to help the two get back together.” Luhan attempted to defend his unspoken thoughts. “I know Kris wasn’t the best at expressing it but he truly loves Hwayoung. Is it so wrong to help two people that love each other?”

“Yes. If one of the people is Kris, then yes.” Yuri scoffed in disgust. “You know just as much as me, Luhan, maybe even more and you know how bad their marriage actually was. Do you think that if they got back together, everything would be okay?” Yuri never fully approved of Kris for Hwayoung. Sure, he was sweet at first and yeah, Yuri wanted to believe that love prevailed all but they were just too different. It was the cliché rich guy meets poor girl but unlike in the movies, there was no happy ending. “His family, friends, fans, and himself.... Hwayoung would have these people against her again. Things can’t be fixed that easily.”

“Kris! Kris! There have been rumors that you and your wife have split up!” An annoyingly persistent paparazzi chased after Kris as the tall man got out of his car. “Is it true?!”

Kris didn’t bother answering the question and forced his way through the crowd, shielding his eyes away from the blinding camera flashes.
