Foreword
Hanbin stood on top off a familiar hill and looked down at the village below him. Finally, after 5 years, he was able to return here. When the war had broken out, and the lord had called for fighters he had been the first to go. His friends had called him an idiot, both because he was going, but also because he had refused to let anyone else go with him. After all their village was small enough that it only needed to supply one man, and Hanbin, being a respectable archer, had leapt at the chance to prove himself.
Now, he was back. 5 years was a long time to be gone. Yet the village and its surroundings did not appear to have changed at all. Hanbin chuckled to himself. What did he expect? This sleepy, old village was to far away to have been touched by the war. Still, it was a relief to see. He was not sure what he would do had he gone home to find it all in ruins.
Slowly he made his way down the road and into the village. He walked across the town green and towards a croocked little house on the other end. Hanbin could hlp but smile at the house. It was croocket, not because it was badly made, but because it had been altered and added too in all kinds of ways and with no plan. An extra room here, a random "tower" there. It looked both like it was kept together with magic, and like it was one mad extention away from tipping over into the river behind it. In short, it was home.
His grin widened as he moved towards the door and could hear the clamour from inside. "Jiwon! Stop trying to eat the pies! They are for the paty later tonight. Go be usefull and wake up Yunhyeong and Donghyuk instead! And Junhoe don't think I didn't see you trying to tuck a pai under your shirt!" jinhwans voice was loud and annoyed, and Hanbin couldn't help chuckle at the sound of it. Clearly his friends, just as the village, had not changed much either. He walked up to the door, opened it to see the mess going on inside, with Jinhwan running around after the two others while attempting to save his paies. Quietly he put down his travel sack and bow. Then loudly announced "God, it's good to be home".
