Description

Jeonghan is an immortal who meets his first human friend, Jisoo. But in a world where immortals and humans do not mix, how long can this newfound relationship last? And with a rising threat from dark forces, is the effort even worth the trouble?

Foreword

This is a prequel of sorts to The Seal of Light. This does not have to be read before the other, nor does The Seal of Light need to be read to understand this one. They're both stand-alone from one another and can be viewed independently.

The events of this story take place 57 years before the events of The Seal of Light.

This ending was nice, but also a little sad. I hope that Jeonghan will be able to heal and trust Seungcheol enough to let him in. I look forward to continuing this in The Seal of Light.

Chapter 5: I wasn't expecting this to happen, but I think Jisoo handled it as well as possible. He was also sweet to realize the way he had treated Namjoo. Now I'm so curious about who killed his family and also if he will be able to fix things with Jeonghan.

Chapter 1: I like the world you have created here, and I'm excited to read more as the story progresses. I feel bad for Jisoo, who seems to be very unhappy in his current situation. The squirrel nickname cracked me up, too.

Chapter 6: *wipes at tears in my eyes* Beautifully summed up indeed. And excellently explained. Oh the irony of how things ended up with Youngsaeng's relationship to Jisoo as well as Seungcheol. XD Great tie in for explaining a couple things from the end of TSoL as well. And I'm very glad to see what Jeonghan decided at the end here. I figured he would realize what Jisoo had done and why, and I'm happy to see that they were both able to come to terms with it.

I'm slightly upset over Heechul's role in all of that, and the result of his trial/sentencing, but that too was very believable. If disappointing and annoying. -_- But well done overall indeed. This was a joy to read and I'm quite pleased with how everything has ended, including the story of TSoL and all that. ;) Bravo lady! <3

Chapter 5: Oh, those cutting words. They were expected after everything that happened, but as Jisoo also realized, they still hurt very much. I know I expected something tragic to happen but that was not what I was anticipating, and I applaud you for that twist that wholly upset everything in the story. Cruel but believable, harsh but necessary for his character to remain, you pulled that off beautifully and redeemed Namjoo's character from everything else that we'd been led to believe about her from Jisoo. Nicely done, my dear. And after all his struggling against duty, I can only admire Jisoo as he has realized what he can and cannot do now that it has come to this. Even as you break my heart, you make me feel proud of him, even in this sorrowful time. Poor dears, all around. *sniffs*

This certainly helps me see how Jeonghan might have been changed by such an encounter and why he is such a vastly different character in the story that follows. Quite believable but oh so sad at the same time. I am curious to see how you will wrap everything up now though. As well as why the Immortals wouldn't allow Mages at the wedding. But that is a question for another time, and it may well have been answered in the SoL. Ah well. On to the final piece!

Chapter 4: Well then! Things are certainly progressing quickly. O.o I had not expected that development exactly. Their relationship feels like that of infatuated younglings discovering passion for the first time. And considering Jeonghan is 'only' forty, I'd believe it. There's no getting around that things between them have moved at a fast rate, but at the same time, they do seem rather meant for each other. The level of comfort and ease they experience around each other isn't something that usually happens so quickly, but I fear what it will also mean for them a bit later. Especially with that look from Namjoo...

And Jisoo's reaction in the dining hall was completely believable and understandable. I'd be pissed off too if I wouldn't be able to say farewell to a favored sibling of mine either. >.> I also liked that you only implied what happened after. It seems to fit things better in this instance. The knowing is all that is necessary and the showing I think could diminish the moment. Nicely done. But I still fear what may happen next. It is rare when things continue perfectly from this point in a story. haha

Onward to the next chapters! :D

Chapter 2: I know I didn't comment on the first chapter but you are off to a fantastic beginning. I'm thoroughly delighted that your characters live and breathe and, while Jeonghan could come off as slightly patronizing, he's also incredibly amusing and endearing in other ways. haha Jisoo is certainly a brat but he's also quite tolerable and has his own amusing moments as well. lol I do rather enjoy all the more up front characters at the moment, and while I feel bad for Namjoo and Jisoo in their arranged marriage positions, I don't think she deserves such disregard. Or course, it does go along with his character so far.

I'm far more curious about how Jisoo and Jeonghan are going to get along in the future. And I'm doubly intrigued about this slaughtered sheep business. Hmm. They sound like demons indeed. But time will tell. It was nice to see that even immortals can be surprised a bit by 'mere' humans and Jisoo's response about his father's reaction made me crack a smile.

As usual, your descriptions are lovely. I can see pretty much everything beautifully as I read along, and that scene with the lacquer in Jisoo's bedroom was a nice touch indeed. ;) I do find it ironic it took us to chapter 2 to learn Jeonghan's name but it also makes a certain kind of sense. I'm also delighted to see Heechul here. ^_^ You've got me curious so on to the next bit!

Chapter 5: No. NO. NOOOOOOOO. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I CAN'T- I MEAN - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. NOPE. I CAN'T. FIND ME IN FIFTY YEARS, BECAUSE I AM NOT OVER THIS.

...I'm just gonna go cry in a corner and wallow in my agonizing misery. Bye.

Chapter 6: Omg so I KNEW fròm the title I just knew it from the beginning that it couldn't end well I just had that sense of impending doom you know? When things just seem inevitable and you can just predict the drop off the cliff that is to come BUT I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT !
Honestly, the way you built them up was so skilled, with a delicate hand haha it didn't feel forced that they fell together like that so kudos! And omg those hinted scenes just saying that if you ever write those I'd totally be here for that *.* lol but per year me aside, let's go back to your writing. I expected to hate Namjoo but somehow you never quite made her the enemy and in the end she turn out okay *confused* But to me, the most important thing was that I liked this. So much so that I just couldn't put it down and I had to keep reading the next bit right up until I was done and the disappointment at having finished something awesome set in ;) the ending was so unexpected and the epilogue just felt kind of bleak and sad despite the hopes for Jeonghan set up at the end. It was heavy with loss I suppose... An awesome read thank you so much <3

Chapter 6: So I suppose the question is, why would that person order and orchestrate the wedding murder? Was that person after something or spurned and jealous? Curious minds want to know. *grins* (well, ok, I want to know... hehehe) *trying to avoid spoiling it for others*
