Chapter 8
The Little Prince.Ryeowook’s eyes widen slightly at his words and he kept looking at him for a moment before shaking his head. He trusted Jong Woon with everything he had and he betrayed him, he couldn’t trust him again, maybe he was just playing with him.
“It’s midnight; the next shift will be at three… three hours.” Jong Woon sighed, shaking his head, he didn’t know what to do in that three hours, but seemed it was the only way.
He needed to plan every single movement, the way they were going to get out, the path they were going to follow, everything needed to be strictly planned, there was no slack for error, it could mean his death and leaving Ryeowook alone…. He knew they were going to murder him if they discovered this, not mattering he was the son of the leader, he was going against their rules and that couldn’t be forgiven.
A heavy sigh left his lips; he was grateful that at least he brought his bag with some money and that his sword was comfortably on his waist. That was going to be a good advantage for him… he just hoped he didn’t need to fight anyone, carrying Ryeowook and fighting didn’t seem very likely.
Biting his lip, he glanced at Ryeowook that was staring at the floor, his eyes were teary and he was sniffling constantly, nobody knew how much he wanted to remove his gag, but he was afraid he could scream or make a noise that alerted the others something was off.
“Have you seen Jong Woon?” He almost jumped when he heard his father’s voice outside the door.
“Last time I saw him he was walking around, maybe he went to the forest? Hopefully he gets lost.”
Apparently the hate towards that man was felt by him too.
“We had a problem and it’s important that I talk to him again, he doesn’t understand, he’s just blind for the adoration he has for the prince.”
He glanced nervously at Ryeowook who looked at him for a moment before looking away, his eyes b with tears.
“If we have luck, he’ll get lost, if we don’t, we’ll have to teach him how the world is.”
He heard his father muttering something before he heard footsteps walking away from the door. He let out the air he didn’t notice he was holding and moved to sat down on the opposite corner, concentrating on planning how they were going to escape.
~~~
It was after a lot of time that he stood up and placed his ear on the door, concentrating on hearing everything that was happening outside. He wasn’t completely sure of what time was it, but he wanted to believe that it was near three. He kept his ear pressed against it until he heard shuffling and small steps, signalling that the person out there was moving or walking away, hopefully it was the second one.
He walked back to Ryeowook that seemed to be fighting to stay awake and crouched behind him “Prince, please listen to me, I need you to say calm, let me take you out of here” He pleaded, placing his hands on the rope tying him “Please don’t try to run away from me, scream or things like that, they will capture you, your majesty, no one here thinks the same way I think and no one is going to help you besides me.”
He hoped he didn’t sound too harsh, it was the truth, no one wanted to help him, no one was showing a single drop of remorse for doing this, they were completely alone.
Ryeowook didn’t move or made something that showed he listened to him, he just stayed in the same position for several seconds, worrying Jong Woon to no end and panic thinking he was hurt or something before he gave a faint nod.
Pressing his lips into a thin line, he cut the ropes around his wrists, greeting his teeth at the bloody marks left on his pale and soft skin then he cut the ones on his chest and waist before moving to the front and cutting the ones on his ankles.
For a moment he expected Ryeowook to spring up and try to run away, but he stayed in his same position, trying to catch his breath apparently. Sighing and keeping himself from trying to hug him, he reached for his arms and helped him to stand up, feeling how the Little Prince’s legs trembled and strained to keep him standing.
“Let me help you, Prince” He said, turning his back to him and crouching a little, hoping the other could understand it meant he was going to carry him.
After several seconds of hesitation, Ryeowook gave a trembling step towards him and rested his hands on his shoulders. With his help, he managed to slip his legs through his arms and practically hugged his neck, too weak to even keep a straight position.
It was until he was sure that he wasn’t going to fall that Jong Woon started to walk towards the door, feeling nervousness eating him alive, his heart pounding faster and harder against his chest with each step. Biting his lip, he grabbed the door knob and turned it slowly, opening the door without making much noise, almost jumping in joy when he saw there was no one in there.
Using the shadows, he closed the door again and moved to hide behind a tree, hearing nothing apart from Ryeowook’s heavy breathing and his own heart. He stayed in there for a few minutes before starting to walk again, moving as fast as he could with his prince weight on him, turning and moving in the path he remember he and his family took to arrive the nearest village.
“HE’S NOT HERE!”
The yell almost made him drop Ryeowook. It was too soon to be discovered, he was counting with going farther than this before being discovered. Dread formed inside his stomach while he thought what they were going to do it if they captured him, how he was going to die, how they were going to punish Ryeowook, for a moment he thought he was part of a horror movie. He glanced at the young prince, seeing his eyes wide and how he was biting with all his might the cloth between his teeth, surely keeping himself from screaming in fear.
Shaking his head to concentrate again, he started to move faster, staying away from the spots where the moonlight shone brighter, cursing when the leaves and sticks made noise under his feet.
“Jong Woon!”
Colour drained from his face when he heard his father’s yell, it was obvious he was going to find him before the others, obvious he knew where he was going to go, he felt stupid for thinking his own father wasn’t going to know.
“Leave us alone, I’m not going back there” He said, releasing one of Ryeowook’s legs to take his sword, feeling how the other hugged his neck tighter to keep from falling down.
“I can’t believe you’re doing this, Jong Woon. I’m so disappointed.” His father said, taking his own sword out.
“You’re disappointed? You don’t know how I felt when I found out your despicable plan, I’m so disgusted with myself from doing this to the prince after I promised my mother to take care of him.” He spat, glaring at him.
“We’re doing this for her.”
“No! She would be disgusted for this, don’t taint her name.”
