Dying to live

Description

Living in a world where humanity has been divided into two races, Min Yoongi, a young man of powerful military descendence, arrives in a military camp where he is expected to install a new order. Leaving the battle field for the first time in his career, he discovers the camp life, the life behind the fights, a communauty of its own within the army. Filled with his prejudices and an education based on hatred, he enters an unknown world, ready to turn it into his own vision of a perfect world, everything being in its proper place: the Infernus, the "inferiors" at the bottom, living for the only purpose to serve the Astralis, the powerful ones, the pure race that descended from the Gods.

Heeran was an Inferus, or as they called them, a chrestnus, a slave, an object that belonged to them and had to live under their complete domination. She went through life without feeling anything but emptiness. She got up everyday and followed the orders that were being yelled at her. When an accident causes her to attract the attention of the soldiers of the camp, her life suddenly seems to be suspended. And she hopes they put an end to it soon.

Foreword

Someone bumped into him. He saw a woman crawling at his feet. He was about to help her out when he noticed the grey and ragged outfit she was wearing. She was one of 'them'.

"So it wasn't someone,  he thought, it was something."

Infuriated by the closeness of the 'thing', he threw a kick in the woman's belly, trying to get her as far from himself as possible. The lady let out a shriek and scouted over. She was carrying a package on her back. The soldier grabbed it roughly, not paying attention to the woman's laments. As he turned it around he discovered a baby.

"What !" He thought, "they've been reproducing !"

The mere idea of this was disgusting to him.
He realized the camp's activities had stopped. Everyone waiting for his reaction. The mother, still on the ground, held her breath while tears rolled down her cheeks. Did they expect him to be lenient towards a child and its mother ? He didn't know and he couldn't care less. He loathed the fact of having that thing so close to him, to have it touching him. His teeth clenched, he suddenly threw the package on the floor, causing both the baby's and the mother's screams to be heard. Not letting anyone the chance to react, he drew his gun and shot.

The whole place became silent. Hand balled into fist, he shot three more times towards the baby. The dirty clothing wrapping it was pierced and blood stains started to appear. Lowering his arm, he turned towards the woman. Frozen, shaking, she stared at her child's corpse, eyes widened in horror and pain, mouth agape, face red and soaked in tears.

"This should teach you a lesson, He said, from now on, five metters is the closest you can get to me, I shall never hear your voice again and..." He continued as he glanced at the blood-drenched package, "This should also teach you not to spread your loathsome race."

After one last cold look for the woman at his feet, he walked away.

This was annoying. His first day at the camp and he'd already been bothered.

               ******************

The alarm woke her up just like any other day, the sun didn't show itself yet. She turn around to shake awake her mat neighbour, but stopped right away. The body was hard and cold. He died during the night. Trying not to feel affected, she got on her feet and left the baraquement. They were already calling numbers. Silently, she took her place in the rows and waited.

-2638A! The officer called.
-Here! She answered
-2639A !
-Dead!
-You'll clean it up.

And the officer crossed out the number from the list before calling the next number.
That was all they were : a number on a list.

After the call roll ended, they moved to their usual occupations. As she made her way to the mud lands where she was supposed to work, a commotion caught her eyes. Turning her head, she saw an old man on the floor. He apparently collapsed from exhaustion. She watched as his peers tried to quickly pull him back on his feet, before they were pushed aside by the soldiers. The men grabbed the old man and dragged him out of the way. Sighing, she turned away and continued walking. As she entered her work place, the faint sound of a gunshot reached her ears. This was how it was there, a weakness cost your life.

The day had only just begun, and already, she wished she was dead.

This is my first time posting on AFF, I wrote this a while ago and thought I might just as well save it here. I'm not a native english speaker so there might be a lot of mistakes and I apologize for that, really...I'm trying my best to avoid those though ^^

Chapter 2: I really like your story! :)
It's something different than what I've read lately, and in a very good way. I like your writing style and the introduction of the characters and setting. However, there are a few language/writing mistakes in your chapters so please read over your chapters again to make your story even better (and I know it can be hard sometimes to write in a language which isn't your first language). :)
I'm looking forward to the next chapters. ^^
