Guardian Angel
"Why are we moving away?" Little Haneul asked.
"Because of my work Angel." Her dad replied, throwing his focus back on the road.
Her mother kept quiet and continued looking out the window. Haneul sighed and leaned in the back seat.
"What about Oppa?" Haneul asked again.
"Forget about him." Her father replied, but this time in a colder tone.
She knew better, so she just kept quiet and looked at her hands. She had bruises around her wrists but she didn't know why or how she got them. Her parents claimed that she earned them when she fell but she doesn't remember. She sighed and closed her eyes.
"Oppa..." She thought to herself.

As she was driving down the road to her parent's house memories came flowing back. Little by little she could remember more and more, it wasn't enough but it was an improvement. She knew exactly what she would like to ask. A part of her was scared of what she might find, but she had to know. There was no going back now. She took a deep breath and focused on the road. It was icy so she slowed down a bit.
The radio was playing in the back and she tried to hum along in hopes that it will help her to get her mind off of things and calm the butterflies in her stomach. She was stressing too much and she didn't like that. She was just getting annoyed and irritated with it. She was annoyed with the whole situation. What could be so dark that her parents have been keeping a secret? Why are they trying to make her seem stupid?
What did her father find? Why was she the target? Who is Oppa? She had so many questions but no answers to them. It was just too complicated and some things just didn't add up. As she got closer to her parent's house the feeling in her stomach got worse. She parked the car in front of the garage and just stayed inside for a bit. She unbuckled herself and leaned back in the seat. She took a few deep breaths and closed her eyes.
A part of her told her to go back, to forget about it, but another part of her told her to not give up, to go to the very end. It was very hard and honestly, she wished she could turn back time and go back to her life and how it was, but what is done is done and now there was no turning back. She made a fist and opened her eyes.
"You can do this Haneul. You have to do this. Let's go." She thought to herself and got out of the car, closing the door behind her.
She walked up to the front porch and without ringing the doorbell she just walked inside. Her parents already knew she was coming and they were waiting for her. She took off her shoes and got into slippers. She then entered the living room, her father was sitting in the armchair reading his newspaper and her mother was reading a book. It was usually like that. They never came to the door to greet her. At first, it bothered her but she got used to it so it stopped bothering her after some time.
She sat on the other side of the room and waited for them to react or say something. The atmosphere was a bit odd and scary at the same time. She didn't dare to ask. They seemed angry at each other. Neither of them looked at her at first.
Her father put down the newspaper on the coffee table and took a sip of coffee out of his cup. He then turned his head and looked at her. By the expression on his face, he looked disappointed. He knew why she was here and he didn't like it. He closed his eyes and shook his head in disapproval. She knew that look very well and it was clear to her that he knows why she was there. What Haneul found strange was the fact that her father knew, yet in the message, she sent him she didn't tell him why she was coming over.
She only told him that she wants to see them and also ask for help, but nothing specific. Hmm. Interesting. She only looked at him without a word. Her mother got up from her spot and walked into the kitchen. The atmosphere itself was very strange and at this point, she felt uncomfortable. Her phone vibrated in her pocket, but she had to ignore it for now.
"You came to the wrong place." Her father said.
"Only you can give me answers. Please, dad." She replied, looking at him.
"But I won't. I did it to protect you, and my final answer is no." He replied and picked up
