The Strongest Among Us

Description

Kyoungjae is an assistant healer in the castle with a crush on Soohyun, the skilled and sometimes intimidating weapons master.  In the training hall, he is a wonder to watch, where he is typically composed and a true master of his domain.  But when the death bell sings her mournful song again, this time, Kyoungjae notices a change in the usually untouchable other man.

Foreword

Written in part as a gift fic for kaseyslove and Kyuubilover27, this is also another entry into my Two Dozen and One Tales oneshot challenge (which I probably won't be completing this year but I do intend to finish).  This was inspired by the quote: "Sometimes the strongest among us are the ones who smile through silent pain, cry behind closed doors, and fight battles that no one knows about."  I hope you guys enjoy and thank you for checking it out!  ^_^

Absolutely lovely poster and background done by Nolza21 at Nolza21 Graphics.  You should seriously check her out if you need some sort of graphic!

Chapter 1: Beautifully written! Very rich in detail and emotion. I love the setting and SooLi are so complementary together. Love our Eli as a healer and of course our Soohyun is an awesome weapons master. Thank you!!!

Chapter 1: Okay. So once again I teared up and my goodness, why must you do this to me?!? *whispers*: I love it.
The world you built here is actually incredibly intriguing and I would really like to know more. I don't read very many UKISS stories because I don't ship anyone in the band together, but as you know, I can overlook ships I don't like when the story is good. And this one is definitely GOOD.
The whole description of the setting was wonderfully done, and the way that you painted the two of them at the beginning told me that something was up with Soohyun. At least, in his feelings toward Eli. They were obvious to the reader yet not to Eli, which was perfectly done, and then the way that the story continued just drove that friendship+more thing home. The last moment in the salle, oh goodness. I really felt for him.
In a way, this world reminded me for some reason of Mercedes Lackey's Herald books. Really nicely done, great portrayals of the lead characters, coupled with a heart-tugging story.

Okay yup this looks awesome. I don't even have any UKISS ships except HoonSeop but I am definitely looking forward to reading this one.
