Small drabble

“I love you,”

The phrase slips from your lips as he’s on his way out. He had brought you lunch, because he was always worried about you on the days you forgot to eat since you were too caught up in your work. The realization of what you have said dawns on you at the same moment he does. Your blood runs cold when he nearly trips over his own feet; his feet coming to a halt with a loud screech. At that, you whirl around to face Haesol, your eyes wide with fright written all over your face. The look he gives you back is the same face he gave you when you had asked him out nearly six months ago. God, how did this happen? It was honestly just a mistake- everyone gets one free pass, right?

“It just… slipped out,” you say, stumbling over your words as each muscle in your body tensed. Your body was ready to run, but he was blocking the door. The only other option being to fling yourself out of the window. If only you weren’t on the seventh floor.
