A carving sat in the tree, its trunk hollowed out and safe from the elements. The eyes of the carving glowed yellow and blinked.

Taemin couldn't move.

He must have blinked; the carving shook and fell in pieces to the ground. Brilliant light burst from the hollow obliterated the reaching shadows.

When the starbursts of colour faded from his vision, Taemin saw a white cat sitting just inside the tree hollow. Markings decorated its triangular face, smeared beneath its eyes and across its eyebrows.

"Pretty stupid for a human, aren't you?" the cat asked.

Taemin's mouth fell open.

"You're welcome, by the way. As thanks, you should let me eat you."
