Chapter 6

CLOSER [HIATUS]

It had been a week since that eventful hangout session with Mingyu and his friends last Thursday with the intense karaoke and dancing. It probably took him a day to recover, they played the music so loud and he was definitely not used to listening to songs that loud to begin with. Won Woo really had a great time when it all went down and wondered how soon they’d invite him over?

Well, it wasn’t any time soon as they all got swarmed with homework the very next Monday… and Tuesday... and Wednesday. Today was Thursday again and thank the heavens, there wasn’t homework assigned for the weekend. He was relieved that he could just sit back and relax this weekend after such an exhausting week at school. Daniel didn’t show up for class yesterday, he was sure he was going to have to meet up with him sometime over the weekend to exchange notes since the other helped him out the other week.

Eventually, he started to think about Mingyu…

The guy obviously had a lot of homework this week just like his friends since Won Woo ate with them a few times at their table and they all talked about their classes and how much they were ready to just drop out despite a month hadn’t even gone by! Won Woo was amused by their behavior under stress, the loud obnoxious trio just sitting at the table looking drained.

Coming back to Mingyu, he had school and work. Won Woo wondered how he was balancing that right about now? He recalled how the taller mentioned he was a procrastinator during one of their encounters at the convenience store. Was he getting his homework done in time before work? All he could do was wonder since he had yet texted Kim Mingyu since he got his number!

He didn’t know what it was, he didn’t know why he hadn’t texted him yet? Maybe he was worried that he’d be bothering him? Or more like he worried he wouldn’t be able to hold up a conversation with him yet, most likely the last one.

Won Woo sighed to himself as he sat at a table in the cafe area by himself. Soo Min was still at the computer lab due to class running a little longer than usual and texted him that she’d come meet him once she was done. He hadn’t seen any familiar faces around yet, and honestly didn’t mind since there were times he liked to be alone, a habit he should break ASAP.

“Won Woo?” The sudden calling of his name snapped him back to reality as he saw Mingyu standing by his table looking down at him with that kind smile he was growing pretty fond of by now. “You’re alone?”

“Uh… Soo Min’s stuck at the computer lab, she should be here in a bit, though I’m not really waiting for her.”

“Perhaps were you waiting for someone else?” There was a nonchalant tone in his voice and Won Woo wondered if the guy was flirting with him just now? You’re just over thinking it… he said to himself in thoughts. “Mind if I sit with you?”

“Go ahead.” Won Woo motioned to the seat across from him, but Mingyu took the seat next to him instead, the one Soo Min was going to sit at, the one he was saving for her despite not waiting for her.

“How was class?”

“Fine, and yours?” Won Woo tried to not let it bother him, he shouldn’t be getting nervous around him at all, right? They’re just newly established friends coincidentally meeting up after class at the cafe in the main building. There was nothing more to it. Or was there?

“Not sure, I spaced out towards the end.” Mingyu gave a sheepish chuckle when Won Woo gave a somewhat scolding look. “I don’t think any homework was assigned, though…”

“Ask one of your classmates?”

“Jeonghan was spacing out, too!”

“Aish,” Won Woo shook his head in disapproval, “probably daydreaming about his girlfriend… or boyfriend. Either one it makes no difference but in the end, try to focus next time, okay?”

“Will do.” Mingyu nodded, flashing a bright smile his way. Won Woo could feel a weird tingling feeling inside his stomach in response to the taller boy’s dazzling smile. He figured it was what Soo Min described as ‘a million thunder bolts raging in her tummy courtesy of Cupid Pikachu’ which actually translates to ‘butterflies fluttering in your stomach’.

Mingyu noticed Won Woo basically staring at him with no doubt, a look of awe. Like he was entranced by whatever the hell he did and it made him feel a little warm and happy inside, to have Won Woo looking at him like that. He was so cute, but so damn hot and attractive at the same time. How does someone like that even exist, he wondered! If it wasn’t official before, it was official now… he was starting to really like Won Woo despite not knowing much about him yet.

Like before, when Won Woo brought up that he wasn’t a very social person, it went without saying that he most likely wasn’t a very open person either. The only person who probably knew the most about him was Soo Min who has been there with him for the past 15 years! Mingyu himself has only been around 2 weeks! 2 weeks and a half maybe! There’s no way he expected to know much this early on in their friendship.

All Mingyu knew was he wanted to get CLOSER to Won Woo because there was something about him that drew him near from the moment he first laid eyes on the guy. Some would call it love at first sight, or fate… and that was definitely what was going on here.

“Ah, look, they met up with each other.” Jeonghan’s voice interrupted the moment Mingyu and Won Woo were having as he showed up to the table with Jisoo who waved at the two in greeting. “Where’s So-”

“Still in the computer lab. She might be awhile.” Won Woo said before he could even finish his sentence, finally breaking away from his stare at Mingyu. He was clearly flustered now.

“We weren’t interrupting anything, were we?” Jisoo asked as he pointed to both Won Woo and Mingyu. The two shook their heads, they really hadn’t interrupted anything… or well maybe they did but they weren’t going to admit it to them.

“Ah, we’re short one chair.” Jeonghan mumbled when Jisoo sat down in the chair across the table, the one Won Woo motioned to for Mingyu to sit. There was only a total of three at his table to begin with since it was a smaller table.

“Oh, here.” Jisoo stood back up to offer his chair, like the gentlemen he was! “I’ll go get another chair.”

“No, that’s fine, we can share this one, can’t we?” Jeonghan chuckled, making Jisoo sit back down. “I’ll just sit in your lap.”

“You mean you still do this even when Soo Min’s not around?” Won Woo narrowed his eyes at Jeonghan who only grinned in reply as he was seated in Jisoo’s lap, the latter not really bothered by the situation, finding it funny actually. Or so that’s what it seemed like.

“Of course!” Jeonghan joked. “He’s my Mistress after all.” He added shooting a wink at Jisoo which made the poor guy’s cheeks turn a light pink shade. To be honest, you could say he was a little gay for Jeonghan, he was just so damn gorgeous! How can anyone not find him attractive?! Name one person, we’ll wait.

Jeon Won Woo.

LOL

“Are you serious?” Mingyu asked, looking a little surprised at Jisoo’s reaction, but he really didn’t blame him, Jeonghan looked really good today! He always looked good to be honest.

“Completely!” Jeonghan grinned cutely their way.

“No, he’s not serious!” Jisoo quickly protested. “Gosh, Jeonghan… are you trying to get me into trouble with your girlfriend?!” He pouted. Even if he felt a soft spot for his friend, Jeonghan was no single lady! And Jisoo was definitely no home wrecker...

“I’ve told you before… she loves it. It’s all good. We’re perfectly fine, handsome.” Jeonghan smiled, tracing Jisoo’s jawline with his finger. If the other two didn’t know any better, they’d have thought they were really dating and that Jeonghan was a girl, his hair had always been long since high school when he started to grow it out to try a new style, but it had gotten so long since last semester! Having it down and free from its usual low ponytail style sure didn’t help the situation at all. Won Woo couldn’t help but noticed Jisoo was truly flustered this time, but he supposed that was to be expected since their pretty faced friend was so attractive.

“You’re such a .” Won Woo chuckled.

Mingyu laughed as Jeonghan gave an offended look and Jisoo frowned at the word that was thrown at his friend. He was naturally not a fan of profanity.

“You’re just jealous that I have a man and a woman…” he said, rolling his eyes and even did the cliché hair flip.

“I don’t condone this.” Jisoo muttered, eyeing Mingyu who nodded with an understanding laugh. He had learned that Jeonghan liked to joke around a lot and was as equally ridiculous as his beloved girlfriend. Match made in heaven.

“And what is this?” A new voice entered the scene. Speak of the devil, it was Soo Min standing there with narrowed eyes at her ship sitting at the table with her other ship. She was sort of dying on the inside at the moment but of course she wasn’t going to show it. Two ships! Two of my ships at the same table… how does one keep calm?!

“Hey, Soo Min…” Jisoo greeted with a nervous laugh, nudging Jeonghan to get off his lap, he did not want to get on the King’s bad side even if she loved the JiHan ship. “How was class? I’ll go grab another chair…” he added, leaving the table momentarily.

“The day my class takes longer, I come here to find my Queen hanging with his Mistress?” She tried to sound irritated but they weren’t buying it, they had saw her slight ‘Yes!’ expression when she approached the table.

“Well, just to be fair, Jisoo did plan on getting another chair but his highness strongly insisted they share the same chair. Have mercy on the poor Mistress…” Won Woo said in Jisoo’s defence despite it not being needed, it wasn’t like the girl was pissed or anything, far from it, she was probably overjoyed.

“I should thank his Mistress for keeping my Queen company in my unavoidable absence.” Soo Min tried to say elegantly as she made her way to the empty chair that used to be occupied by the JiHan ship. “Come here, my lovely Queen.” She tugged on Jeonghan’s hand as she sat down on the chair, patting her lap with her free hand.

“Are you serious?” Mingyu blurted out, trying to hold back his laughter. Won Woo’s friends were so entertaining! They were probably worse than his own friends now that he thought about it.

“No, I’m too heavy.” Jeonghan chuckled.

“Nonsense!” Soo Min frowned, pulling him CLOSER. “If your Mistress can handle it, surely your King can, too!”

“You’re cute. But really…” Jeonghan shook his head, “I’d much rather you sit in my lap.”

“Have you ever heard of a King sitting in her Queen’s lap before?” She complained, being pretty stubborn. Jeonghan brought the palm of his free hand to his forehead, making the other’s laugh at his small action. “Just sit down!”

He finally caved in, figuring she wasn’t going to take no for an answer, and carefully sat on his small girlfriend’s lap. He hesitated a bit on whether he should let his feet leave the ground, he didn’t want to hurt her since she wasn’t really the strong type to begin with. He could hear the small strained grunt come from her lips and already he wanted to get off knowing he was too heavy for her!

“I must request my Queen lay off the sweets…” she teased, wrapping her arm around his backside to support him the best she could, making him wrap his arm around her shoulders. He gave a cute pout at her comment and she just hugged him, calling him adorable.

“You know I don’t like sweets.” He muttered, suddenly feeling a bit embarrassed about the situation as the others at the table were watching them with dorky smiles on their faces. They just couldn’t deny that the sight was adorable. In the end, Jeonghan kept one leg down for extra support, not exactly sitting on her lap entirely because he really feared he’d crush her thighs or something, she was such a weak and fragile human being sometimes, it’s why he preferred it the other way around!

“Awh, they’re so cute.” Mingyu cooed quietly next to Won Woo who had a slight worried expression on his face. He was thinking the same thing Jeonghan was just now.

“She’s so reckless sometimes.” Won Woo replied in the same quiet tone as the King and Queen made conversation with the latter’s Mistress who had returned a moment ago.

“I’d understand, she seems so small and frail at times from what I’ve seen.” Mingyu was in agreement. She had caught a cold so easily from the rain the week before, yes her clothes were almost soaked from the pouring rain but she really hadn’t been out in it for too long.

“This must be one of those ridiculous, how to be the perfect boyfriend lessons she randomly throws at me.”

“How to be the perfect boyfriend?” Mingyu repeated, clearly interested to hear about it.

Just then they heard Jeonghan sigh after looking at his phone for the time. “I should go.”

“Right, I almost forgot about class!” Jisoo got up from his seat quickly. “Let’s go, your highness!” He chuckled passing by SooHan’s seat.

Jeonghan got up from Soo Min’s lap and latched himself onto Jisoo’s arm while falling in step with him since they were both heading to the same class. Jisoo let out a nervous laugh while glancing back at the Queen’s King who didn’t look too thrilled about it.

“Yah!” Soo Min pouted from her seat. “Don’t I get a goodbye-... really?” She muttered watching the two walking away.

“Are you really going to let the Mistress take over?” Won Woo joked, watching his friend’s pouting face.

“No! I’ll be back… A King should walk her Queen to class, right?” A grin spread across her face as she jumped up from her seat. “You peasants behave while your ruler is away!”

“Just shut up and go already.” Won Woo made a shooing motion at her. Once she was gone, Won Woo let out a sigh. “Never ending.” He was referring to her ridiculous comments.

“It’s so cute, though!” Mingyu laughed at his companion’s exhausted expression. “Such a cute girl and she really fits with Jeonghan, that Queen! I must say…” he leaned back in his seat, “your friends are much worse than mine.”

“Thanks?” Won Woo couldn’t help but laugh at his words.

“But really, she’s so sweet.” Mingyu leaned forward on the table now, facing Won Woo with curious eyes. “Was she like that when you two were younger?”

“I guess?” Won Woo answered, feeling slightly disappointed that he was asking more about her instead of him. But he quickly questioned himself, why? Why would that bother him? They’re just friends! “She got worse with age.”

“Apparently.” He said with a hint of laughter. “So, what was that about earlier, the how to be a perfect boyfriend lessons?” He added, that curious expression returning to his face.

“Oh… that.” Won Woo thought about it for a few second before deciding to talk about it. “I haven’t really been in a relationship before, so she’s taken it upon herself to teach me how to be the perfect boyfriend…”

“That’s adorable, since she’s a girl and all.”

“Yeah… sometimes I forget she’s a girl, she acts like a boy so much.”

“I can see that.” Mingyu chuckled, referring to earlier. “So, what kind of girl is your ideal type, then?” He asked.

“Oh… I don’t have a type,” Won Woo paused for a second, “for girls, that is.”

“So, any kind of girl?”

“I… don’t like girls.” Won Woo said quietly, looking shy all of a sudden at his small confession. “I like…” he trailed off, finding it hard to finish his sentence.

“Guys?” Mingyu finished for him. Won Woo nodded, avoiding eye contact now. “Oh! I’m sorry, I just assumed…” Mingyu had thought he was straight all this time. He couldn’t help but feel relieved to hear that answer, though. He was relieved that he hadn’t fallen for a straight guy.

“Yeah…” Won Woo muttered. He suddenly felt awkward now that it was out in the open.

“Since you told me, or well my question sort of brought it up…” Mingyu smiled when Won Woo glanced his way. “I like guys, too.” Yet another thing they had in common. Won Woo wasn’t sure if he should be glad about this new discovery or not. Maybe he was glad that he wasn’t the only one who liked guys given he’s the only one among his group of friends at the moment. Perhaps this would help Won Woo understand it a bit more if he were to ask Mingyu about it. If he even brought it up, ever!

Not much was said after Mingyu’s small confession and the younger made it easy on Won Woo by dismissing himself so he could go to his last class of the day. Even though it was kind of awkward, Mingyu was happy to know that Won Woo was someone he could actually pursue now.

“Class was cancelled again?” Won Woo asked after he got into the back seat of Soo Min’s car about an hour later. He had gone to the library for some books and came out when she texted him to see if he was still on campus. She had been waiting for Jeonghan in the lot.

“Yup, but it doesn’t really affect our class work, he just emails us the assignments and we do them on our own time. But I got the weekend for that.” She explained while scrolling through her playlist. She had kpop playing at a low volume in the car. “By the way, have you heard from Jihoon lately?” She asked.

“Oh? No. Not really. I’ve only saw him a couple of times during lunch this week. He seemed pretty busy with homework.”

“I hope he’s been taking care of himself!” She frowned while composing a text to their MIA friend. “Maybe we can drop some food off to him before going home?”

“Sure.” Won Woo was in agreement before he looked out the window to see Jeonghan and Mingyu walking up to the car. “Uhm…” he barely got out when he saw Mingyu lock eyes with him and waved.

“Hi~!” Soo Min greeted after rolling the window down. “What’s going on?”

“I bumped into Mingyu after class. Do you think we can give him a ride home?” Jeonghan asked, though he had an evil smile on his lips when he glance at Won Woo in the backseat. Seungcheol had left earlier to run some errands, which explained why Soo Min was waiting for Jeonghan. Even though it was best that they walk during the summer, they had their lazy days like today!

“Uh, sure, no problem!” Soo Min nodded innocently. She had no idea what kind of talk Mingyu had with Won Woo earlier, but it wasn’t like she would deny someone a ride because of that.

“Go ahead and sit in the back!” Jeonghan instructed Mingyu who simply nodded and did as he was told. Jeonghan hurried around to get into the front passenger seat.

Won Woo was dead quiet after Mingyu entered the backseat and he avoided looking at him by looking out the window, as if there was something interesting out there. Because maybe there was something interesting when he saw a couple walking past the car. He thought they were just a normal couple until he realized the one with long jet black hair was actually a male and not a female. It was so interesting that he literally watched them pass until they were on the other side of the car, and now he was facing Mingyu.

“What is it?” Mingyu asked with a cute smile.

“N-Nothing.” He stuttered before looking out the other window again.

“Who’s hungry?” Soo Min asked after she finished picking out a playlist.

Won Woo was still dead silent after they arrived to one of his favorite burger joints and picked a booth to sit in. At least Soo Min sat next to him instead of Mingyu, but then Mingyu was sitting straight across from him, he really didn’t know which was worse, sitting beside him or across from him?! He had to make sure not to act nervous or surely the couple would start teasing him about it in front of Mingyu.

It was a long twenty minutes, they were there as the SooHan couple made small talk with Mingyu, they were hoping that they all could get to know each other a little better this way. Won Woo stayed quiet most of the time and at least Mingyu seemed to understand given they talked about his quiet persona before. That was something that made him happy, and he was also happy that Soo Min wasn’t pushing it so much today, too. But he wasn’t so sure if he’d easily forgive Jeonghan though.

When Won Woo excused himself to the bathroom, Jeonghan also excused himself as well to go after him. That left Mingyu and Soo Min alone at the table. “I guess Won Woo still isn’t used to meeting with you.” Soo Min said with an apologetic smile.

“That’s okay. I didn’t think your boyfriend was going to invite me along like this. I could have gone home on my own, but I guess he also wants Won Woo to socialize more, right?”

“He does. Even though they don’t get along sometimes.” Soo Min said with a small sigh. “But it’ll be fine. I’m trying not to push it. I didn’t want to be rude and say no when he asked if I could give you a ride. And I was truly hungry…”

“I understand. Don’t worry about it.” Mingyu assured her with a cute smile. “So, that was actually your car?”

“Ah, yeah.”

“I thought it was Won Woo’s car at first since he came to the convenience store with it on your birthday.”

“We both use it. Won Woo doesn’t really want a car, so we just share mine.” She explained.

“I see.” Mingyu smiled while nodding his head. As the two continued to make small talk about school, even talking about the photoshop class they had in common, Jeonghan was in the men’s restroom getting strange looks when he walked in. It obviously had to do with his long hair and pretty face.

“What are you looking at?” Won Woo muttered in a low voice when he came over to the sink to watch his hands. His words were directed to the other guys giving Jeonghan strange and judging looks. They immediately averted their attention elsewhere, because Won Woo looked like someone they shouldn’t mess with because of those intense and sharpe eyes giving them a deadly glare for judging his best friend’s boyfriend.

“Don’t worry, I’m used to it by now.” Jeonghan chuckled when Won Woo came to the corner he was standing in.

“Why did you follow me? You needed the bathroom, too?” Won Woo asked when he noticed he hadn’t gotten in line to use the urinals.

“No.” Jeonghan shook his head. “I just wanted to check on you. You’ve been really quiet since we got here.”

“I wonder why.” Won Woo rolled his eyes. “Thanks for inviting someone I still don’t know that well to our get together. This is why I don’t like you.” He added in a quiet voice since they were still in a public place.

“Sorry~! I just thought it’d be a good chance to get to know him better!” Jeonghan apologized with a sheepish chuckle. “Soo Min said you were trying to be more social, right?”

“I am…” Won Woo frowned when his promise was brought up, “but that takes time for someone like me, right?”

“I get it.” Jeonghan nodded. “I promise I won’t push it again.”

“Good. I still don’t like you.” Won Woo said before leaving out the bathroom leaving Jeonghan standing there offended before laughing it off and headed out to return to the table as well.

Shortly after those two returned to the table, they decided it was time to go and made sure to grab an order to go so they could drop it off at Jihoon’s place. They took Mingyu home first. The younger thanked them for the ride and made sure to wave to Won Woo in the back before heading into the apartment complex. Won Woo couldn’t help but watch Mingyu enter the building and feel like he wished he could hang out with him and his friends again like they did before.

Soo Min took notice and took her time pulling out of the parking lot until Won Woo snapped out of it and told her to hurry before Jihoon’s food gets cold!

“Oh, you brought food.” Jihoon muttered after opening the door. “You may come in.” He stepped aside to allow Soo Min inside. Before Jeonghan and Won Woo could enter, he stopped them. “Did you bring anything to eat or drink?”

“Uh, it’s in the bag-” Jeonghan was about to point before the door shut in their faces.

“What are you doing?! We’re here to visit!” They could hear Soo Min exclaim before opening the door for the other two.

“I’m busy. I can only visit one human being at a time.” Jihoon joked while taking the bag of food from Soo Min. “I’m kidding.” He snickered when she frowned at him. “Let’s make this visit short.” He added while sitting on the couch.

And short it was. They only asked him about how he was doing these past few days. He responded that he was swamped with homework and he had been busy with that. It was why he hadn’t been in contact with them recently. Jeonghan might have scolded him about overworking himself and Jihoon, being the rebellious one he is, just rolled his eyes at the lecture while the WooMin duo laughed quietly nearby. They were kicked out shortly after.

“Why does he always do that?” Jeonghan pouted. He didn’t like being kicked out from anywhere.

“Ah, you know him, he doesn’t want to lose his momentum and focus. It wasn’t like we were going to stay the night.” She pointed out while coming up to a stop light. The next turn would decide if they were going to Jeonghan’s shared apartment or the WooMin duo’s apartment.

“Speaking of which, I’m not ready to go home yet!” Jeonghan blurted out when the light turned green.

“Seriously?” Won Woo sighed in the backseat like he was irritated. “You’re not staying the night.”

“I know!” Jeonghan laughed. Man, their feud from high school was still going strong.

“You two are just adorable.” Soo Min giggled before focusing on her driving.

...

After getting to the apartment, Won Woo said he was going to wash up early. But that might have been a mistake because when he was done, he was met with a grinning Soo Min waiting for him on the couch with Jeonghan. “So it’s out in the open, huh?”

“What is??” Won Woo sighed, a slight irritated look on his face. Jeonghan must’ve said something to her, and now that he really thought about it, Jeonghan shares classes with Mingyu… whom he saw after class. They must’ve talked, and by talked, Mingyu must’ve told him about earlier.

“Mingyu came to me after my class talking about it, so she was bound to find out regardless.” Jeonghan pointed out as Soo Min sat there looking happy in her little ship world. Yes, this definitely meant they talked about Mingyu and Won Woo’s talk on campus earlier.

“Why do people gossip so much?” Won Woo hung his head defeatedly. Was he going to see it as the headline in the news paper? “And why do his friends and my friends have to make such ridiculous comments? Fiancé, ships… we’re just friends, him and I. Don’t try to make it into something it’s not.”

“It’s not something… yet!” Soo Min corrected.

“You really need to stop your shipping habit.” Won Woo said seriously at her. “What if we don’t even like each other like that? You’re going to make it awkward…”

“That’s the thing, you don’t know yet!”

“Stop shipping me with Mingyu.” Won Woo said flatly, returning to towel drying his hair.

“It’s too late, the ship sailed a long time ago… it’s only one way!”

“Jeonghan, control your girlfriend.” Won Woo looked to her boyfriend with a warning look.

“Uh, Soo Min…” Jeonghan turned to her, looking unsure of what he was supposed to say.

“If your ships are only one way, are you trying to say you wouldn’t mind if JiHan was real?” Won Woo decided to bring up. “What would you do if they really did like each other?”

Soo Min paused for a second, her happy grinning face faltering a bit as she thought about it. She had never really thought about it up until Won Woo said that and it really made her think for once. And as she thought about it more and more she was starting to feel… sad. To think her boyfriend whom she really loves with all her heart loving someone else beside her.

“I…” she said softly looking at a loss for words before she got up and left to her room, shutting the door.

“Yah.” Jeonghan frowned as he looked to Won Woo from the other end of the couch. “Why’d you say that?”

“I’m honestly curious if she even knows what she’s doing when she does that ridiculous shipping.”

“I get she probably shouldn’t be so into the shipping, but you don’t have to upset her about it. That’s mean.” Jeonghan scolded, looking at the Choco Pie she left behind. That was a clear sign she was upset if she abandoned her favorite snack, she never abandons her food, ever. Unless there was something wrong.

“She’ll be fine.” Won Woo shook it off, though he did feel a little guilty on the inside. He didn’t mean to do that to his friend but… I’m such a jerk. He thought to himself. Just because I didn’t like the idea of her shipping me with someone, I had to open my big mouth just to shut her up?

There was silence in the room. Jeonghan was quiet because he was worried about Soo Min, he thought to go and check on her but decided to let her be. She was probably thinking about everything right now, she shouldn’t be bothered. Won Woo on the other hand finished drying his hair and put the clothes he changed out of away. In the end, he knew he was going to have to apologize so he decided to head out for some fresh air and pick up a snack for his roommate… as a peace offering. Despite she still hadn’t finished all her Choco Pies from her birthday!

“I’ll be back.” He said as he headed to the front door, slipping on his hoodie. He looked back to Jeonghan who gave him a silent wave. Perhaps I need to get him something too… Won Woo inwardly sighed before leaving out the door.

...

It was almost 10pm by now as Won Woo walked alone down the street towards the nearby convenience store. He found it interesting how everything could go downhill in a split second like that.

Remembering what he said to Soo Min, and how she left the room had him feeling really bad right now. “I really am a jerk.” He muttered to himself before entering the convenience store. After all that drama, he forgot it was Thursday night, one of the nights Mingyu should be working. He ended up looking at the counter to see no one was there at the moment. He figured the current clerk was probably tending to something in the back momentarily.

He headed to the candy aisle to look for something better than just a simple Choco Pie. They obviously didn’t need anymore for a long time. After looking through all the candies, he moved on and his eyes landed on chocolate. He reached out and grabbed two chocolate bars, one for Soo Min and one for Jeonghan but then he grabbed two more… for Soo min again. He was feeling really bad, he thought it was okay to splurge on her.

Quietly, he walked up to the counter to see the clerk kneeling down behind the counter and the sound of stuff being rearranged could be heard. He could only see the person’s back right now, he couldn’t recognize who it was because it wasn’t like he spent a lot of time staring at people’s backsides!

Just as he was about to set the chocolates down on the counter, the clerk finally stood up and he smiled kindly at Won Woo, causing him to drop one of the chocolate bars. “Oh, hey, Won Woo!” Mingyu greeted.

“Uh… I didn’t know you were working tonight?” Won Woo mumbled, trying to calm down from his surprised. He didn’t think he’d run into him.

“It’s Thursday night.” Mingyu chuckled before looking down at the items on the counter. “I think you dropped one?” He added, recalling that he heard something fall when he stood up.

“Oh…” Won Woo looked down to see the chocolate bar by his feet. He bent down to pick it up but he bumped his head on the counter. “Agh…” he whimpered while quickly picking up the item and tossing it onto the counter, turning away while cursing under his breath. Why?! Why does this happen every time?! He thought in agony as he held on to his aching head now. He was doing so well on not getting injured for so long!

“Are you okay?!” Mingyu asked, clear worry in his tone, he rushed around the counter and was standing in front of him. “Let me see…” he said, gently touching Won Woo’s wrist to bring his hands away from his forehead. He wanted to make sure it wasn’t as bad as it sounded when his head collided with the counter that made a loud thud.

“I’m okay.” Won Woo kept his hands in place.

“Just let me look, please.” Mingyu chuckled at his mini protest. “It sounded like you hit it pretty hard, I just want to be sure you’re okay.”

Won Woo gave in as he removed his hands from his head, allowing Mingyu to check the damage. He tensed up when he felt Mingyu’s gentle touch when he brushed his bangs out of the way to look at his forehead. There was only a small red area on his pale skin and Mingyu was relieved the force from hitting the counter didn’t open up a cut, perhaps if he had hit it harder it would have.

“Ah, just a sore spot. That’s a relief.” Mingyu smiled before fixing Won Woo’s hair back in place.

Won Woo just stood there frozen as Mingyu did the small task, his eyes going over every detail on the handsome guy’s face. It was the first time he really saw him up close like this and if he had to be honest, he really liked what he saw.

“What is it?” Mingyu asked when he caught Won Woo staring at him, that same look of awe from before in his eyes.

“Uh!” Won Woo snapped out of it, taking a step back but Mingyu grabbed him by the waist and pulled him forward up against his body so quick.

“Sorry!” The older man apologized after he entered the store, he almost hit Won Woo with the door just then and Mingyu luckily saved him in time.

“It’s okay.” Mingyu assured the man who disappeared off into the back of the store where the beverages were. “That was close!” He returned his attention back to Won Woo who looked paralyzed in his hold. He had to laugh, he looked so stunned. “You okay?”

“I’m f-fine!” Won Woo managed to stutter out after letting him go. He took a few steps back and his cheeks started to turn a noticeably pink shade.

“Then I’ll ring up your snacks now.” Mingyu smiled, heading back around the counter to do his job.

Won Woo avoided eye contact through the whole thing, he was afraid his face would melt off, he felt so embarrassed not to mention nervous, too, after what just happened!

“Be careful on your way home.” Mingyu said while handing over his bagged items.

“Yeah.” Won Woo simply said before turning for the door. “Bye.”

Once Won Woo left, Mingyu let out a small laugh, recalling everything just now, all the clumsy encounters with him. He couldn’t help but feel a bit worried for him. He hoped he wasn’t that clumsy when he wasn’t around.

After another two hours, his shift was finally over, it being midnight now. The next clerk came in for her shift and shyly greeted Mingyu before shyly telling him goodbye. He naturally flashed her a charming smile before leaving because he was always nice like that.

When he exited the store, he couldn’t help but notice a figure sitting on the bench near the side of the store by himself. He was going to ignore it and head on home but upon glancing over to the figure again, he recognize the person to be Won Woo! He never went home? He thought to himself as he approached the bench. He could see the sad look on his face as he was staring down at the ground before him.

“Won Woo?” He called out, gaining his attention quickly. “I thought you went home? What are you still doing here?” He asked as he stood before him.

“I intended to go home but…” he trailed off with a dejected tone.

“What’s wrong?” Mingyu frowned as he took a seat next to him. “Do you need to talk with someone about it?”

Won Woo didn’t really reply to him, which worried him more. Did something bad happen? He wasn’t going to pry but he did think the least he could do is keep him company, not having the heart to let him sit out here by himself like this. When a few minutes passed, Won Woo told him he should head home, he would be fine on his own.

“I don’t really like the idea of leaving you here by yourself.” Mingyu shook his head. “Just let me know when you’re going home, I’ll walk you.”

“You don’t have to do that.”

“But I want to.” He smiled.

Won Woo looked at him for a bit, a lot of thoughts running through his head in that moment. Mingyu was so nice to him, like really nice to him. Whenever he was around, he felt some sort of peace, only when he wasn’t a flustered mess and bumping into things. It had only been about three weeks now but… he started to realize maybe he developed some sort of feelings for Mingyu. He wasn’t one to believe in love at first sight, which would explain why he didn’t like Soo Min shipping him with the guy so quickly, whenever he thought about it, he’d deny it and claim they’re just friends!

“Thinking about something?” Mingyu broke the silence that had fallen upon them in the past few minutes. “You know, you’re really cute when you’re lost in thought.” He commented, grinning when Won Woo looked away with a tint of pink on his cheeks.

Won Woo might have fallen in love before, but he had never really been with anyone in reality. He wasn’t sure how this was supposed to work. Even if he had Soo Min there to tell him all the signs and explained it, he just never really understood it.

“I… upset Soo Min earlier.” He muttered, eyes casted down again.

“You did?” Mingyu asked. “How?”

“I told her… to stop her shipping habit.”

“Uh oh,” he laughed, causing Won Woo to look up at him confused, “never tell a fangirl to stop shipping.” He added. “But why? Did she finally not like JiHan being so close with each other?”

“No… it wasn’t because of those two…” he shook his head. “I told her to stop shipping us.” He pointed to himself then to Mingyu.

“Why?” There was a hint of disappointment in Mingyu’s tone.

“Because… we’re just friends, right? I don’t want it to be awkward having her shipping us like that…”

“Awh, you mean you don’t like me?” Mingyu pouted, but paused when he saw how flustered Won Woo got at his words. “You mean… you do?”

“No!” Won Woo blurted out, avoiding all eye contact now. “We’ve only known each other 3 weeks… we hardly know each other!”

“Three weeks is still a lot.” Mingyu laughed. “Well, then let’s get to know each other more!”

“Say what?!” Won Woo felt so shocked right now.

“Even if we’re just friends, let’s get to know each other more!” Mingyu beamed. “You’re an interesting person and I’d like to know more about you. Jeonghan tells me Soo Min is pretty much your only true friend right now… I want to be a true friend for you, too! I want to help you branch out. I sense you feel like a burden to her sometimes, so let me be there for you too!”

“You…” Won Woo was at a loss for words again. He felt something again, but this time it was a warm feeling. Hearing Mingyu say all of that, showed he really wanted to be his friend, he couldn’t say a lot of people wanted to be his friend growing up.

“Don’t worry about anything because I understand, okay?”

“O-Okay.” Won Woo managed to say before it got silent. He was trying to process all of that just now.

“There you are!” Suddenly they heard Jeonghan’s relieved voice. “Is this where you’ve been all this time?” He asked before greeting Mingyu quickly.

“I just wanted some time to think.” Won Woo said quietly, looking down all of a sudden again. Mingyu looked up to Jeonghan who had the same look, too. “She still upset?”

“She didn’t even let me in to say goodbye.” He replied. “I would have stayed longer but I have stuff to do in the morning, so I left. But I was worried about you since you didn’t answer any of my texts.”

“Oh, sorry.” Won Woo pulled out his phone to see 15 missed texts on the screen.

“She’ll probably calm down by tomorrow… go home and get some sleep.” Jeonghan said before looking to Mingyu. “You too.”

“I will, after I walk him home.” Mingyu nodded.

Jeonghan couldn’t help but smile, they really did look cute together now that he saw them sitting besides each other. He knew how Soo Min felt now, with the shipping! He shipped them too!

“Alright then, take care of our Won Woo! Goodnight!” Jeonghan waved at them before heading off.

“Not him, too.” Won Woo sighed sounding defeated.

“Just let them think what they want.” Mingyu laughed. “I honestly don’t mind it at all.” When he looked at him with confused eyes, he smiled. “Because… I kinda like you, Won Woo.”

As far as the continuation I think it would be ok since you will be updating a few months from now. Right now it would seem a little weird, but I don't think it will be bad later. Go with your heart though.
