Hello everyone, and welcome to Chapter 50.

Poor planning has brought you this jammed pack mess of a chapter, I’m sorry but you’re absolutely welcome too aha~

There’s a lot going on, and by a lot I mean I had to jump back and forth between scenes

02f0SVY1gdtuTtrEwJMmMYKNeeBIMRskELrSZ06HPn21ibcE69v5-qpbhPKYkWaGOXFoDmBSJD_kNMYJN721s1SuY4MLVWrhE19v_hF5wOT0aH0WFF_I8tRFz2InedDh9Z8tYOkM

*Seungcheol’s me lol*

I’ve labeled each break with group names to make it easier! And so… sorry if there’s not enough details going into the scenes since they’re pretty quick and straight to the point. I wanted to do this big idea cuz I thought it would be nice to do for the halfway mark, Chapter 50. So please enjoy what I could offer~! I definitely didn’t try to rush this, it just seems that way! And I got overwhelmed at the end so naturally it ended kinda weird aha but I’ll make up for it in future chapters, I hope!

ENOUGH OF ME TALKING, ENJOY~! See ya at the bottom!

BooSeokSoonSol’s side

“Shouldn’t we get some studying done before we…” Hansol asked after breaking a pretty heated kiss between him and his Boo. They were in Seungkwan’s shared room since Mingyu was out, they could have a little privacy.

“Seriously, you’re bringing up studying right now?” Seungkwan looked so disappointed before pushing his boyfriend off of him so he could sit up. The mood was totally ruined.

“Sorry, I mean…” the younger seemed disappointed as well, but it was clear he was a good student in the end. “I was supposed to watch over Sofia today, but I really wanted to come see you, so I told mom I was coming here to study.” He began to explain. “And I can’t lie to my mom later if I go home, I can’t say I only studied the human anatomy… I’m not even taking a class for that subject!”

Seungkwan didn’t say anything and just stared at him with a straight face, but his expression almost cracked when a giggle tried to escape his lips. His boyfriend was just too freaking cute right now and he couldn’t help it. “Okay, I get it.” He managed to say. “We can study for a bit. Let’s go.”

“Where? Aren’t we studying here?”

“No.” Seungkwan simply said while shaking his head. “We can’t study here, too many distractions. Let’s go to the library?”

“Bu-”

“You’re the one who suggested it!” Seungkwan let out an amused chuckle. He was right and Hansol let out a sigh of defeat. Studying at the library was probably better than studying in his boyfriend’s bedroom, a private place to get easily distracted. “We’ll get the hyungs to come along as well.”

Hansol let out a faint whimper, so much for it just being the two of them! There’s nothing more romantic than a group study that limits him to what he can do to flirt with his Boo. He had to remind himself that he’s a good student and he shouldn’t complain. Maybe he will be rewarded later if he does well. With that mindset, he was a lot more eager to go get some studying done.

When the couple exited the bedroom, they saw the older couple on the living room couch watching a movie together. Soonyoung was cuddled up into Seokmin’s side while munching on some popcorn and Seokmin was drinking some juice. “Hey, hyungs!” Seungkwan blurted out and the couple jumped in their seats. The popcorn spilled all over them and the couch and Seokmin spilled his juice on his lap. “I wasn’t even that loud?” Seungkwan said with an apologetic chuckle and looked to his boyfriend who was holding in his laughter behind him.

“What is it?! What do you want?!” Soonyoung complained while trying to clean up the popcorn, Seokmin had to leave temporarily to get some paper towels to clean up the juice on the coffee table.

“Eh, well… Hansol suggested we go study at the library for a bit.” Seungkwan said while pulling his boyfriend over in front of him, as if he was using him as a shield.

“Whoa, wait, hold on! I suggested you and I to go study…” he pouted and look over his shoulder to Seungkwan who seemed nervous, probably from Soonyoung’s murderous aura nearby. If Mingyu had walked in right now, it probably would have been all over for them because of the mess.

“The hyungs should come along too! They’re supposed to be a good example for us but here they are, slacking off eating popcorn and drinking juice on the couch!”

“We were watching a movie!” Soonyoung defended.

“You can watch the movie later!” Seungkwan innocently chimed while peeking around his boyfriend.

“You know, they have a point.” Seokmin spoke up after returning with a new change of clothes, he was going to get the paper towels next until he overheard them talking about it. “Today is Saturday, we don’t have a lot of time to study before midterms on Monday. We’d be wise to go study while the library is still open.”

Soonyoung stopped for a second to think about it and he instantly agreed before hurrying to his room to gather his text books. “Let’s go before they get busy!” Now that it was brought up, he was the most concerned one out of the four of them!

Seokmin left to get his books as well and was the last to exit the apartment. Before he shut the door, he realized they hadn’t cleaned up their mess properly. The door shut and snapped him out of it. Ah, I think it’ll be fine. We’ll be home before Mingyu, most likely. He assured himself and caught up to his friends down the hallway.

“We really need to invest in getting a car.” Soonyoung pouted two minutes into their walk to the library.

“We can catch a cab?” Seokmin suggested but his boyfriend shook his head.

“Having a car would benefit us more instead of having to pay a stranger each time.”

“He’s right.” Seungkwan agreed. “I don’t have my license yet, though.”

“I plan on getting mine soon.” Hansol mention to his side. “Mom wants me to be able to pick up Sofia and take her places when she can’t.”

“Well, good! And then we can carpool to school!” Soonyoung beamed. “Hurry up and get your license!”

“Hyung, don’t you think you should get yours too? Don’t rely on me.” Hansol laughed. “You too.” He looked to Seokmin who agreed with a smile. “You too babe.”

“Me?” He repeated dramatically. “A diva such as myself, driving?!”

“You’re right. Maybe not.” Hansol snickered. “You’d have some serious road rage, wouldn’t you?”

“Yah!”

“He has sidewalk rage as is.” Soonyoung joked but the others didn’t laugh and his expression deflated. He thought that was a pretty funny joke!

“Awh, sweetie, you’re so cute.” Seokmin gushed with a light chuckled and pulled him CLOSER to his side. He knew he shouldn’t leave his lover hanging like that.

“Actually, that was pretty funny.” Hansol started to laugh when he thought about it. Seungkwan playfully rolled his eyes and looked to the older couple.

“Hyungs, get your license and make it work!” He snapped his fingers. The older two frowned at his bossy tone but knew he really didn’t mean it like that.

“Roger that, yes sir.” Soonyoung said with a small thumbs up and forced smile. To be honest, the thought of him driving the diva around anywhere he wants seemed to turn him away on the idea of getting his license, but then he thought about how he’d get rewarded for driving the diva around anywhere he wants and now he seemed more excited about that idea. Boo Seungkwan can be a diva but he can also be the most generous and sweetest person you’ve ever known. “Yes sir!” Soonyoung suddenly blurted out and startled Seungkwan and Hansol.

“Karma.” Seokmin chuckled quietly while Seungkwan complained the rest of their walk to the library.

Jisoo’s side

“I can’t focus.” Jisoo muttered out loud to himself and leaned back in his chair with a deep sigh. He wasn’t sure why he couldn’t focus. He had his phone on mute and tossed it onto the middle of the bed with the screen facing downwards. The music he put on didn’t have lyrics, so it couldn’t be that either. It was pretty quiet outside of his room, he assumed his roommates left for lunch and hadn’t returned yet.

He let out another sigh and glanced around aimlessly, there was nothing in particular that he was looking for but his eyes fell upon the framed photo of him and his friends near the right corner of his desk. There was one of him and everyone else and then one of just him and Jeonghan at their high school graduation. He reached for it and did the cliché move of running his fingertips over the glass frame, specifically over Jeonghan’s image. He recalled yesterday when Jeonghan said he’d be checking up on him today and quickly got up and made a jump for his phone on his bed. He was lucky he leaped far enough or he might have ended up like those poor dogs and cats you see on the internet when they miss their target landing.

The second he his phone’s display, he knew Jeonghan left a text for him because it was the first one in view.

Jeonghan: Is1ruRZPltar4T5HlfKyJALTG9Oxa8Rp8Tvi5_xY9cVOo8_tYVxuwrZhYBg6zd8NGoRJ6a-WyaJCVcIsuBgelap0VUcK-_OnztTzmAEMaCllctBHs3TDE3OHDrQ6EXKbZauB-7eV

Jeonghan: Good luck on studying today!

If you go to the library, let me know and I’ll be there!

“The library… of course!” It was like he had an epiphany, the lightbulb in his head went off. The library was the perfect place to study, it just had that studying vibe for sure. Maybe if I go there, I can focus? He thought to himself and decided he should do that.

He started to pack up his textbooks and other materials into his bag and made his way out of his room, officially coming out of DO NOT DISTURB mode. Just like he guessed, his roommates weren’t back yet, so he left his door open in case they did return while he’s away, they would know he’s not home. He put his shoes and coat on at the door and was ready to head out until he remembered Jeonghan asked him to tell him if he goes the the library. Do I really have to? He frowned. He wanted to but… He won’t know. It’s not like he’s going to be there. He snickered to himself and left the apartment with more ease. He’d regret assuming things like that next time.

JunHao’s side

“Are you two going to study for midterms after this?” Mei Yi was the first to ask after they exited the restaurant they ate at. It was another authentic Chinese place. They knew Minghao liked it, so the brought him there again and it was clear he was happy about it.

“Oh right, I forgot!” Junhui slapped his hand over his face and let it drag down which caused the girls to laugh in response at how animated he was.

“I don’t need to study.” Minghao pointed out. “I’m not enrolled yet.” He added and the girls instantly understood.

“Lucky!” LiNa pouted. “But are you good at school?”

“Yes.” He simply nodded with a small smile. “If there’s anything you might need help with, I might be able to help?”

“Can you?!” Junhui blurted out and grabbed him by both of his shoulders. He looked desperate suddenly. “Help us!”

“Hyung, will you tone it down?” Minghao scolded quietly while the girls laughed at Junhui’s antics. They honestly could understand him though, it’s just they weren’t about to man handle Minghao like that in broad daylight, it would be very unlady like… and embarrassing!

“I know, let’s head over to the library!” Mei Yi pointed out. “We could just study for a short while, right?”

“Sure.” Minghao agreed to that and looked to Junhui who seemed concerned. He glanced at his ankle a few times and the younger sighed. “I’m fine!”

“It’s okay, he’s just worried about you, that’s all!” LiNa said sweetly. “Let’s get a cab so you don’t irritate your injury.” Minghao figured he shouldn’t protest, he thought it was a better idea too. A more wise idea. With that, they managed to flag a cab down and got in. Minghao was allowed to sit in the front passenger seat where there was more leg room while Junhui had the honor to sit in between both Mei Yi and LiNa. How the seating arrangement was decided, no clue.

Minghao was really expecting for Junhui to start flirting with the girls because that’s what he does, or well that’s what he hears from Jisoo anyway, that Junhui was a flirt and always managed to flirt and charm any girl he meets. But right now, he was behaving and giving the girls their space. “What?” Junhui asked when he noticed Minghao staring at him through the rearview mirror.

“Nothing.” Minghao simply said and focused on the road ahead of him. A hint of a smile tugged at the corner of his lips, he supposed Junhui really was worried about him. Despite he didn’t want anyone to be worried, it was a nice change for once given how things were before. He was going to enjoy this while it lasts, because he was sure it wouldn’t last long. His smile faltered a moment later after that thought. Once I’m healed I’m sure things will go back to the way it was. He thought bitterly. Maybe not entirely the same, but somewhat.

LiNa noticed the change in Minghao’s expression from her spot in the backseat to the left, she could see part of his face from that angle. She worried if maybe his ankle was bothering him and he was just trying to mask the pain or something. But she felt like maybe it was something else. She started to worry about him and his friendship with Junhui. Did the not talk things out last night? It really wasn’t any of her business and so she would try not to get nosy after this. It would bother her a lot for sure, but she’ll manage.

On the other side of the backseat, Mei Yi was happily watching out of the window and watched cars and buildings pass by at a decent speed. She hadn’t thought too much about the situation they were in just yet, so she was in a good mood. But it didn’t last long when she noticed Junhui’s reflection in the window, he looked slightly dejected about something. Of course it had to be that he was worried about Minghao and his injuries. Oh yeah, did those two ever talk things out last night? She recalled the small story Minghao told them about his roommate not taking him out to lunch yesterday. I suppose it would have been difficult since they were probably tired when they got home. Junhui even told them about how Minghao reacted earlier when he told him no to going out into the city. But here they were, in the city!

Even though Mei Yi knew she probably shouldn’t bring it up, the least she could do was ask if Junhui was okay, quietly though.

“I’m fine.” He assured her with a weak smile. She pouted at him and he was surprised. “What is it?”

“Let’s talk privately once we get to the library, just for a few minutes, that’s all.” She simply said before looking out the window again. She could see his surprised expression still through the reflection and suppressed a giggle that wanted to come out. He was probably nervous or something, but he didn’t need to be. They were almost to the library at this point and so they all patiently waited to arrive.

JiCheol's side

“You know… maybe we should go to the library to study.” Seungcheol suggested after straightening up in his seat to relieve his sore back from hunching over next to Jihoon at his desk. It wasn’t exactly the best place to study given the whole set up. They needed proper chairs and a table to study.

“Why the library?” Jihoon muttered and turned to face him with a hint of confusion. “We can just move to the kitchen table?”

“Well, the library has a good study vibe, does it not? Everyone goes there to study, I bet we could get some study energy if we went there.”

“Study energy? Really?” Jihoon snickered.

“C’mon. It’d be nice to have a change of scenery, right?”

“I think it’s unnecessary, but if you think it’s a good idea, then let’s go.” Jihoon said with a simple shrug and closed his textbooks so he could pack up. Seungcheol sat there for a moment replaying what Jihoon just said a couple of times. If you think it’s a good idea, then let’s go. That was followed after him saying it was unnecessary. Just because I suggested it? He thought after they left Jihoon’s home studio and headed out to his parked car out front. Had it been anyone else, would he have said the same thing? He hoped this was a sign of some sort… I’m reading into this too much again. He pouted before opening the passenger side door for Jihoon.

“Oh… uh, thanks.” Jihoon stuttered and quickly got in. Seungcheol noticed that and smiled. He shut the door and made his way over to get into the driver’s side. When he got in, he saw Jihoon buckling up his seatbelt and it was hard not to notice the blonde’s read ears. Hmmm…

He wasn’t going to try and figure it out right now since time was ticking. They should get to the library before it gets too busy. Surely other students were going today because midterms start Monday. Hopefully they can get a good table when they get there.

About five minutes into the trip, they got stuck in a bit of traffic and Seungcheol sighed. He worried about the library getting too full before they got then and glanced to see Jihoon’s dejected expression. “It’s okay, there’s not that many cars, we should start moving in a few seconds.”

“Okay, good.” Jihoon said softly, but he sounded distracted and bothered by something else.

“Is everything okay?” Seungcheol blurted out even though he didn’t mean to say that. He knew it could be difficult to talk to Jihoon, the younger and his friends just weren’t “talkers” when it came to talking about things that bothered them, so it was kind of pointless to ask in the first place. He was expecting a simple “I’m fine” or “It’s nothing” but instead, he got “Well, earlier Ren texted me shortly after dropping me off at my place. He said he got stuck and traffic and saw someone he wasn’t ready to see just yet.”

“Someone?”

“You do know about Ren and the WooMin duo, right? That they’re half siblings.”

“Yeah, Jeonghan has been filling me on in the situation here and there, but he hasn’t said a whole lot either.”

“It’s true. And yesterday was such a hard day for them. I really thought today would be better, but… Ren ended up seeing Soo Min and his birth father during traffic and it really shook him up. He says he’s okay now, but I can’t know that for sure. He could have just lied so I wouldn’t worry.”

“I understand.” Seungcheol said in a soft and kind tone. “He was worried about you and you’re worried about him. It’s normal… but just remember it’s what friends do. We worry even when we’re told not to. And we say we are okay when we’re not so our friends worry less. It’s a negative cycle going on there. I don’t think there’s any ill intentions and maybe Ren just doesn’t want to burden you too much right now when you have your other friends who are going through a rough time, too. I know it’s hard right now, but things will get better even if it seems like it won’t, they always do somehow.”

Jihoon was in awe at Seungcheol’s mini pep talk, he was feeling much better after that and managed a small smile. “Thanks. I needed to hear that.”

“No problem.” The older flashed him a kind smile and Jihoon could feel his heart skip a beat inside his chest. It was interrupted when they heard a car honk behind them, the traffic had started moving but they weren’t paying attention. Seungcheol quickly stepped on the gas and poor Jihoon jerked back against the passenger seat.

“I’m sorry!” Seungcheol wailed. He was so apologetic and it made Jihoon laugh.

“I’m okay, really.” He assured him. “Just be more careful!”

“I will!” They laughed about it for a few seconds before they got stuck in another line of traffic and their expressions dropped to that “so done with this shi-” expressions. Another ten minutes won’t hurt, right? SIGH. But at least this time they were able to talk about something more positive and Seungcheol was glad to see Jihoon in a better mood now.

Ren's side

“So, you ditched Ren?” Minhyun asked in a scolding tone after Baekho told him the story of what happened when he dropped the model off at his mother’s office. He came to Ren’s house after Aron texted that they were there because Minhyun had took it upon himself to restock his beloved boyfriend’s kitchen with everything he needed like foods, drinks, snacks, the basic kitchen items.

He might have went a little overboard when the fridge didn’t want to close properly. “It’s too full!” JR complained with a struggle. “Why did you buy so much food! Are you going to throw a party or something?!” Minhyun’s poor lover had been through a lot, he thought it was only right that he do this for him. It would show just how much he loves and cares for him, right?

“I didn’t mean to do it on purpose… I just…” Baekho continued with his story and spoke softly, like a little kid who was in big trouble and was scared to confess to his actions.

“Youngmi said she was visiting Rina today.” Aron blurted out next to Baekho at the center island counter. Instantly, Baekho stilled in his spot and was visibly nervous.

“Ah, that explains it.” Minhyun said with a flat tone, as if he was already done talking about it.

“A little help here!” JR suddenly shouted behind him. The items inside the fridge were threatening to fall out onto the floor if he were to open it normally. Someone needed to help catch the items before they fall and make a mess on the floor!

“Move aside.” Minhyun simply gestured his friend out of the way.

“But-”

“I said move!” Mother Hen was getting annoyed now. JR quickly backed away and Minhyun stopped the avalanche of food from falling out onto the floor by simply sticking his foot out to hold the door shut. His balance was on point, he didn’t even sway or struggle. “What else happened?” He asked and went to work on reorganizing the fridge.

“Well, on our way to Rina’s office, we happened to see Soo Min during the backed up traffic.”

“Oh, that’s nice!” Aron cracked a pleased smile. He was waiting for more SooRen interactions ever since things got settled at the hospital last night.

“But she wasn’t alone.” Baekho’s expression made Aron’s smile falter a bit.

“Who was it?” He had a feeling he knew who it was if Baekho was acting this glum.

“It was their father.” He answered and the room fell silent, besides Minhyun working away at the fridge. He heard it and it was obvious by the way his fast pace slowed down a bit on moving the food items around. He even dropped the bag of carrots, very unlike him.

“Wow. That’s intense.” Aron said with a sad snicker. “Is he okay?”

“Yes, he’s okay now. He did text with someone for a few minutes, I think it might have been Jihoon he was texting because his mood was better before we got back on the road.”

“That’s good.” Minhyun said from his spot on the floor. He was nearly finished organizing everything but needed a moment. After hearing about Ren seeing his father in traffic, he was very worried about how his boyfriend was feeling. He knew it was no simple matter, it was a big deal. But he’s glad he got to talk to someone at the time, even if it was over text and even if it wasn’t him who Ren talked to. He knew he couldn’t expect Ren to always come to him with everything now that Jihoon was back in his life. He’ll come to me every now and then, right?

More silence ensued since none of them had anything to say at the moment, but that was okay, because they heard the front door open and they knew who it would be. “Is everyone here?” They heard Ren ask while making his way to the kitchen. Someone was following close behind him as well. “Jeez, I thought this was my house, not yours!” He scolded, but he was clearly joking.

“I guess this is where you ran off to.” Youngmi chuckled, her comment directed at Baekho. “Hey, cous.” She added while looking to Aron now.

“Hey, Ruby.” He greeted and she playfully rolled her eyes. He’s been calling her that ever since she started wearing makeup recently. She’s been into wearing red lipstick and now that she thought about it, it seems ever since she started wearing it, Baekho’s been fleeing the moment he sees her. She frowned when she saw him obviously avoiding looking at her. What, does he think I’m some kind of monster with makeup on?! It was a silly thing to think, but she felt like they were kids right now. Lol. Maybe Baekho still thought girls had cooties or something and that the cooties were stronger when wearing makeup.

As for Ren, he was a bit surprised to see all of his friends in his kitchen like this, or well almost all of them. His boyfriend was missing. “Who left the fridge open?!” He frowned and made his way over, not joking this time with his scolding tone. He quickly discovered his missing boyfriend sitting in front of the open fridge, lost in thoughts about something.

“Hey, let’s give them a moment.” Aron whispered and gestured for the others to follow him out into the living room. With them out of the room, Ren called out to Minhyun and he snapped out of it.

“Why are you zoning out like that?” Ren questioned before eyeing the food in the fridge. “Whoa, did you buy all of this?!” He’s never seen his fridge so packed before.

“Yeah.” Minhyun managed a small smile. “I figured you wouldn’t have enough energy to do any shopping yet so I took care of it for you.” He watched Ren lower himself to the floor and stood on his knees to examine what his wonderful boyfriend bought for him. He was pleased to see things he loves, like Minhyun remembered… it was sweet. “Did you buy any cake?” He asked before looking around excitedly. It made Minhyun chuckle, but it came out as a bit of a sad chuckle, he couldn’t help it.

To think Ren was stuck in the hospital nearly all day yesterday, he’s still recovering and now he had to run into his father so unexpectedly. My poor love. He thought sadly. Can’t the universe give you a break for one day? Just one day… with no tears or sadness. This was affecting him more than he thought it would. He could feel a sting in the back of his eyes… he rarely ever sheds tears in front of anyone, nor for anything. But today…

“Yah, I don’t see any sweets in here.” Ren was still examining all the food and pouted. Just then, he found some yogurt and was about to do that cliché “score!” but he was pulled back against Minhyun’s chest suddenly. It surprised him but instantly he could sense his boyfriend was upset by the way his arms wrapped around him tightly and he buried his face into the back of his shoulder. He could feel him slightly shaking, like he was holding back his emotions. “Did Baekho tell you about the traffic?” Ren asked softly. He could feel Minhyun nod behind him and he let out a sad sigh. “It’s fine, don’t worry. I’m okay…” he rested his free hand over Minhyun’s strong arms around his torso and hoped it would help comfort him, even just a little.

“I can’t imagine how it feels… all of this.” Minhyun muttered quietly. “How do you do it? How are you getting through all of this? I don’t think I ever could…”

“Because of you, babe.” Ren chuckled. “And the others. Because I have people supporting me through everything… I already had a family before all of this.” He was referring to Minhyun and their friends and it was so sweet that it finally put a smile on Minhyun’s face.

“Right. That’s right.” He said and shifted in his spot so he could hold Ren CLOSER. “Sorry, that was dumb of me to ask.”

“It’s fine.” Ren chuckled and tapped on his arm to let him go so he could shift and face him. He gave a sincere smile to his boyfriend and wiped away any lingering tears. He caressed his cheek. “I know it’s difficult right now, I know everyone is worried about me, but everything will be okay… in time.” Minhyun nodded and leaned into his touch while closing his eyes. He was more relaxed now and peaceful. Ren took that as his cue to kiss him and he did.

“Aren’t you guys getting cold?” Aron’s voice interrupted them, but it was on accident since he gasped and apologized. He couldn’t see what they were doing behind the counter, he only noticed the fridge door was still open. “Sorry, sorry! Ignore me! As you were!” He hurried back into the living room at the speed of light.

“What’s wrong?” Baekho innocently asked when he saw Aron catching his breath from moving so quickly.

“Nothing! Just don’t go into the kitchen!” Aron blurted out with a sheepish chuckle.

“Anyways, as I was saying…” Youngmi spoke up with an annoyed expression from being interrupted and faced JR and Baekho, yet another thing Aron interrupted. “Since midterms are starting Monday, should we go to the library and study for a bit?”

“Oh, right, I forgot about midterms.” JR sounded defeated when he let his head fall back against the couch. It was obvious that he was not looking forward to it.

“That’s a good idea!” Aron agreed, naturally.

“What’s a good idea?” Ren asked when he entered the room, since they were interrupted and all, Minhyun told him to join the others while he finished up organizing the fridge. He offered to stay and help but the blonde insisted that Ren take it easy and relax. So Ren reluctantly agreed and came to the living room and only caught the last part of what Aron said.

“Going to the library to study.” Baekho answered. “Midterms start on Monday.” Ren nodded with that small “oh” expression. He remembers now.

“Luckily, I don’t have class on Monday.” He said with a grin, like he was rubbing it in his friends faces. “But I suppose we should go. Though I need to be back by 5pm for the dinner later.”

“What dinner?” Youngmi asked curiously. “How come I wasn’t invited!”

“Relax, we weren’t invited either!” Aron laughed before playing hurt. “It’s a special dinner for Ren and his new siblings.”

“Oooooh!” Now she understood. “Sorry! I had no idea.”

“That’s okay.” Ren assured her. “Minhyun bought so much food, I suppose it wouldn’t hurt if you joined us for a bit.”

“If she gets to join, can I join?” Aron immediately asked. Ren already looked like he regretted his choices. “What about the other two, surely they get to come too, right?” Ren face palmed.

“Let’s go study first before we decide on anything!” He said and pointed at the front door. He had a feeling maybe that full fridge of food was a sign of some sort…

Minhyun smiled sweetly at Ren when he joined them at the door to leave. He’s up to something… Ren thought suspiciously. Actually, Minhyun wasn’t up to anything, he just simply bought too much. Lol. Paranoid Ren.

When deciding on who would be leaving with who, Ren opted to go with Youngmi and Minhyun in her car while Baekho would leave with JR and Aron in his car. Before Youngmi could even start her car, Baekho’s was already down the street. “Is this some kind of race?!” She complained and started her car in a hurry. Both Ren and Minhyun held each other’s hand tightly before they jerked back from the sudden take off. They crossed their fingers that there wouldn’t be any speeding tickets issued today.

SooHan's side

When the SooHan couple arrived to the library, Soo Min instantly noticed familiar faces near the front and Jeonghan had spotted Chan near the back, he was waving them over. “You go ahead first, I want to greet these guys before going over.” She said to Jeonghan and turned to walk towards Buffy and Kyong Tak’s table, but he stopped her by the wrist.

“What guys?” He asked quietly, a hit of jealousy in his tone.

“They were my classmates from spring semester, don’t you remember?” She assured him.

“No, I don’t think you ever introduced us.” He said calmly. They were both being quiet, no worries.

“Well, the blonde one is Buffy and the brunette is Kyong Tak. Buffy is safe, he already has his eyes locked on someone he can’t have, and Kyong Tak is just super nice and protects everyone from Buffy.”

“Protects?” He almost laughed.

“He’s kinda crazy…” she said in her lowest whisper. “Almost as crazy as me!” After explaining herself, Jeonghan’s expression softened and he slowly let go of her wrist. “I’ll be quick, I just want to say hey.”

“Okay.” He nodded and reached out to tuck her left side fringe behind her ear so it would display the pokéball earring she had on. It would at least make him feel better even though those guys probably wouldn’t know what it means other than just a simple accessory. “I’ll let Chan know.”

“Thanks.” She smiled and gave him a quick peck to his lips before heading over to her friends table, leaving Jeonghan standing there a bit surprised and flustered, she rarely does that in public because of how shy she gets. He supposed she noticed him getting jealous and did that to calm him down. Kissing him in front of others surely showed that she was making sure others knew about their relationship. This definitely helped him get over those bitter feelings from earlier for sure. Once he snapped out of it, he headed of to Chan while Soo Min greeted her friends.

Jeonghan's side

“Hey, hyung!” Chan greeted quietly. “You brought noona with you?” He seemed so excited.

“Yes.” Jeonghan nodded with a true smile. “We went to lunch with her father earlier, that’s why we’re a bit late. Sorry.”

“No, it’s fine.” Chan assured him. “I’m just happy you even showed up!”

“Right.” Jeonghan gave a sheepish laugh. “I really was going to show up, I promise.”

“I know, hyung.” The younger said cutely. “Don’t worry about it, this is better, at least I get to see noona, finally.”

“I agree, it turned out better this way, Thanks.” Jeonghan said with a relieved sigh. “So, have you studied well?”

“I think so.” Chan pouted. “I’m starting to get a headache, what does that mean?”

“That you’re studying too hard!” The older cooed sadly and reached out to the younger’s hair in a gentle manner, almost like a mother would. “Have you been taking any breaks?”

“Oh, uh…” Chan thought about it. “I guess not.”

“Take a break!” Jeonghan’s tone was serious and a scolding one. Chan appreciated it and was glad. He was getting tired of it right about now.

“What about you?” He worried. “Weren’t you going to study, too?”

“It’s fine. I can do it later. I’m a college student, it’s what we do, wait till the last second.” He joked and laughed at Chan’s unamused expression. “It’ll be fine, I promise.”

“If you say so, hyung.” It was clear Chan was a bit worried, but also trusted his hyung. “So, will noona be joining us?”

“She will. She just needed to greet some friends from the campus, that’s all.” Jeonghan assured him and glanced over to see if Soo Min was done yet. That’s when he saw her speaking to someone else he didn’t really recognize. He stilled for a second but quickly reminded himself that he had nothing to be jealous about.

“Hyung?” Chan noticed Jeonghan’s reaction and worried. He knows about the times when Jeonghan gets jealous and it causes fights between him and Soo Min. He could see what Jeonghan was seeing, too. “He’s just another friend, right?”

“I think so.”

“Noona loves you and only has eyes for you, hyung. She’d never betray you!” It was sweet of Chan to try and reassure Jeonghan about his relationship. Even if the younger was young, he seemed pretty mature for his age and that probably had to do with having older friends like Jeonghan and Seungcheol.

“You’re right. Thank you, Channie.” Jeonghan really seemed to take Chan’s words to heart and his expression lightened up drastically. “Even after all these years, I guess I’m just still not used to her having so many male friends.”

“I get it.” Chan nodded. “She hasn’t made any girl friends yet?”

“She only had Min Ji until yesterday. There were two girls who came to the hospital with Jun and Minghao.”

“The hospital?!” Chan suddenly looked so worried.

“Oh right… I probably should fill you in on everything.” Jeonghan gave a sheepish laugh.

“Please! I don’t want to be out of the loop anymore.” Seeing the younger’s expression broke Jeonghan’s heart. He felt so bad, it was like he had neglected him as his friend and family by visiting him less and talking to him less. He was going to have to change that.

“I’ll tell you everything. I promise.” Jeonghan reached over and took one of Chan’s hands into his and gave it a small squeeze. He started to explain everything to Chan the best he could.

Soo Min’s side

“Well, well, well, if it ain’t our adorable little Pikachu?” Buffy greeted and instantly noticed her pokéball earring. “Who was that over there? You kissed him!” He asked and she tried not to laugh by the way he said that in a whisper.

“He’s my boyfriend!” She answered. “I guess you guys never properly met him.”

“No, we haven’t.” Kyong Tak confirmed. “But it’s okay, don’t worry about it.”

Soo Min just gave a nervous chuckle and they noticed. “So, how’s my future hu-”

“Was nice seeing you guys! Study hard!” Soo Min blurted out and cut Buffy off mid sentence. Kyong Tak laughed while Buffy pouted. She managed to escape before she could get back into Buffy’s antics. He was definitely not going to shout after her and get kicked out! He’d come find her on campus after midterms and fall break for sure!

“Soo Min! Is that you?’ She suddenly heard to her left when she was walking towards Chan’s table in the back. She stopped and turned to see it was Sebin.

“Oh, hey!” She managed to greet back quietly. “What are you doing here? I thought you weren’t enrolled this semester?”

“I’m not.” He confirmed. “But my friends are. I came to help.” He said with a weak smile. “We were just leaving though.”

“Oh, okay. Did something happen?” She could tell his smile was a bit off and he was surprised she even noticed that small detail. He had thought she wouldn’t have caught that given they don’t talk with each other often or hung out enough to notice stuff like that, but he supposed Soo Min was really something.

“It’s nothing, don’t worry about it.” He assured her. “Just tired or something…”

“Ah, be sure to rest when you get home or you’ll get sick.” She said with a sweet smile and he managed to return that smile back. “Well, I’ll let you go then, let your friends know I wish them luck on their midterms!”

“I will. Good luck on your midterms as well.” He said and did the common fist action for “Fighting.” She copied him and they both chuckled before she waved and started to walk off. He watched her head to the back area where there was a high school student and the guy she kissed waiting for her. I should have known. He thought with a dejected sigh. I should’ve known she’d have a boyfriend by now. He managed to push those feelings aside and returned to his group of friends at the front of the library. They were waiting for him.

Jisoo’s side

Sebin accidentally bumped his shoulder with someone passing by and he quickly apologized. “It’s okay, don’t worry.” The other guy said kindly before continuing inside. When he entered the study area, he noticed Soo Min picking up a pen that was dropped and was about to come towards the exit until she saw him. “Oh, hey Jisoo.” She greeted. “Did you come to study as well?”

“I did. What about you?” He replied calmly, though he was slightly nervous. That memory of him alone in the car with Jeonghan last night just had to surface in his mind the second he faced her. It was probably from guilt.

“I didn’t really come to study, but I tagged along with Jeonghan since he planned to meet with Chan to study.” She explained and gestured to the back where their friends were. “You can come join us.” She added and lead him over to the table by the hand. Jisoo was suddenly tense for some reason, he wasn’t sure if it had to do with those weird feelings he had for Jeonghan, because if so, this was his girlfriend holding his hand. There was also a bit of confusion that he was feeling too, like he was flustered that she was holding his hand like that. Sure, they’ve known each other for a long time now, about four years, so he wasn’t sure why he was getting so worked up by it. Maybe because she’s a girl, the typical boy and girl hand holding scenario. It just made him shy all of a sudden. This is weird… he thought to himself and his eyes didn’t break from their conjoined hands. How come I’m getting nervous by this, too? He wondered if maybe his feelings were more complicated than he thought, as in… maybe he’s still attracted to women but still attracted to Jeonghan? I’m so confused.

Soo Min hadn’t noticed his mood and he quickly tried to snap out of it since Jeonghan was now greeting him with the brightest smile that made him feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. Like it instantly calmed him or something.

“Glad you could make it to the library.” Jeonghan said before pouting. “I didn’t get a text that you were coming, why not?”

“Oh, I forgot.” Jisoo said with a nervous laugh and took a seat next to him while Soo Min took a seat next to Chan. The couple were separated at the moment. “How long have you been studying?”

“Uh… well,” Jeonghan gave a sheepish chuckle, “not at all.”

“What?” Jisoo looked like he disapproved.

“I was catching Chan up on everything that’s been going on.” He explained and they looked over to see Chan and Soo Min watching them.

“I can’t believe it, so much happened with you guys!” Chan said with a frown. “You’re okay now, right?” His question was directed to Jisoo and the older assumed maybe Jeonghan told him about Jisoo’s stress over Minghao getting injured and everything.

“I’m okay.” Jisoo gave a small smile.

“That’s good, I’m glad.” Chan’s expression brightened up. “So, what are you three studying for today?” He asked to all three of them. They were still being quiet the whole time.

“I don’t really need to study, my midterms are all art projects.” Soo Min pointed out. “But I can help with Math if you need it?”

“Yes please!” Jeonghan blurted out in a desperate whisper.

“Alright.” She laughed before asking if Jisoo needed any help.

“I can help Jeonghan with his Math, you can help Chan with his?” He said while pulling out his notebook from his bag.

“Sure, no problem.” Soo Min happily agreed with a bright smile and turned all her focus to Chan, Jisoo felt flustered again before he noticed Jeonghan sitting there on the verge of pouting.

Jeonghan: No… nothing.

… BooSeokSoonSol’s side

“Was it her?” Woo Sung asked curiously. “Was that Soo Min?”

“Yeah.”

“Why so down?” Sangil asked with a bit of concern. Already their friend Sangho was upset about something earlier and was currently staying silent in the group and now Sebin seemed upset as well. They hadn’t seen what Sebin saw apparently.

“It’s nothing. Let’s just go.” He forced a small smile and headed down the sidewalk first along with Sangho who was ready to leave a long time ago.

When they made it outside, they were faced with a small group of familiar faces. It was the BooSeokSoon trio plus Hansol. Both groups were silent and stared at each other in surprise. Mingyu’s friends remembered Sangho and his friends clearly. There was no mistaking it.

“Uh, hello.” Sebin greeted kindly. “We were just leaving.” He assured them.

For once, the trio didn’t really know what to say and quietly nodded in understanding. They watched Sangho and his group walk away without another word to each other. “That was… unexpected.” Soonyoung was the first to blurt out.

“Yeah, I can’t believe it. He’s really back?” Seungkwan seemed the most concerned out of the four.

“Sangho seemed upset? Do you think it’s because he saw us?” Seokmin pointed out. They thought about that. It would make sense because of the way how things ended, he probably felt guilty about everything and couldn’t hide those feelings when they saw each other. But they couldn’t be so certain unless they asked.

Quietly, they entered the library with serious moods. It was like the fun had been out of them after that small encounter, not like Sangho and his group were the killjoys, but at the same time… they were in Mingyu’s friends case.

Meanie’s side

When Won Woo and Mingyu pulled up to the library, they could tell it must be busy inside by how many people were walking in and out at the moment. He was a bit nervous since he didn’t like large crowds but he knew it’d be okay since it’s the library, it wouldn’t be noisy for sure. Plus he had Mingyu with him! He parked the car and they proceeded to get out. Won Woo walked in front of Mingyu since the younger was distracted by his phone for a few seconds before finally catching up. When Won Woo turned around the corner of the building, he thought he saw a familiar face and stopped in his steps. Is that his ex again? He thought and saw he was with some other guys, obviously his friends or something. “What is it?” Mingyu asked while passing him. Won Woo immediately reached out and stopped his boyfriend by the hand and pulled him back around the corner, as if they were hiding from something, from someone. “Won Woo?”

“I saw him again.” Won Woo said quietly with his eyes locked on the ground below him. His hold on Mingyu’s hand tightened. “It was your ex again.”

“Oh…” Mingyu understood and his mood started to drop again. But it wasn’t so bad this time, because he still had Won Woo with him… and he just saved him from running into sadness again. He really appreciated Won Woo stopping him from going any further and hiding him just to avoid a negative encounter. A smile started to return to his lips and he reached out to hug Won Woo tight to his chest. He could tell Won Woo was upset for him. “It’s okay. Thank you.”

Won Woo only hugged him tighter and their embrace lasted for a moment before they parted. Luckily Won Woo didn’t tear up or anything and was just fine with a cute smile on his face. Mingyu, too. “Let’s go in now.” He suggested and wrapped his arm around Won Woo’s shoulder so they could walk side by side. At least this kind of gesture wasn’t too out of the ordinary between two guys. Won Woo was happy with this at least.

JuhHao’s side

The BooSeokSoonSol group managed to find a spot in the middle of the library’s study area and didn’t notice SooHan, Jisoo and Chan in the back because they were at it with the studying. They were pretty distracted right now to notice anyone else coming into the library, like Junhui and his group. BooSeokSoon and Hansol were focused and barely realized that Junhui and his small group sat at the table near them.

“So, where here. Now what?” LiNa asked. “We don't even have our textbooks.”

“Oh, right…” Mei Yi gave a sheepish laugh. “Forgot we need those.”

“It's okay.” Minghao assured them after taking his seat next to LiNa who visibly got nervous. “If you remember what subject you need to study, we can make do with what we already know. This is the library of course they should have materials to help with it as well.”

“You're totally right!” Mei Yi chimed quietly. “How about LiNa tells you her math struggles while Jun and I go find some books to help with it? Sound good? Good! Be right back!” She didn't give the other two as chance to speak and dragged Junhui off to the aisle of books nearby.

“Uh…” Junhui wasn't sure what to say, this was so sudden. He remembered she said they should talk privately once they got to the library but he didn't know what it would be about.

“Are things still tense between you and your roommate?” Mei Yi asked in a whisper. It was the library after all. Junhui hesitated on answering that and she spoke again. “Just be sure to talk to him properly after this. Those negative expressions don't suit a handsome guy like you. I don't like it.” She admitted and ran her fingertips over the spines of the books lined up on the bookshelf in front of her. “When he told us what happened when we met, I thought you were such a jerk, but I can see now you didn't mean to. So, hurry up and let him know. You sound like the only person here who he can relate to and lean on because you both come from the same country. He needs you…”

Her words got through to him and he appreciated it. “I understand. Thanks.” He managed a thankful smile.

“Good.” She flashed him a smile of her own and he was captivated by it, it was so beautiful. “Let's head back now.” She suggested and started to walk away but he stopped her by the wrist. She was surprise and looked back at him.

“You said we were finding books. We can't go back empty handed.” He reminded her with a small laugh when she face palmed.

“Why am I so forgetful!” She muttered and walked the opposite way to find any books about mathematics. Junhui followed close behind like someone who was under a love spell.

Meanwhile…

“I think I get it now.” LiNa said softly after watching Minghao solve a math problem she had been stuck on. He had written up some problems on a piece of scratch paper to test her skills.

“Good.” Minghao was pleased. “Try solving this one now.” He pointed to the unsolved problem next to it. She nodded and began to work on it while Minghao watched.

“How's your ankle by the way?” She asked while scribbling away at the piece of paper.

“It's fine.” He answered.

“Are you sure?” She looked up at him this time.

“Yes.” He nodded with a cute smile. “Don't worry about it.”

“Then… what seems to be bothering you? I don't mean to be nosy, but I'm worried about you because of yesterday.” She admitted and stopped solving the math problem for a moment. “You really shouldn't bottle things up like that, it's not healthy. I know we just met, but if you need to talk to someone, you can talk to me.”

He was a bit surprised at her sudden offer and smiled, she was so sweet. “Thank you.” He simply said before tapping on the piece of paper, hinting for her to finish the problem. She gave a sheepish giggle and continued solving the problem.

A moment of silence ensued after that before he sighed and began to speak. “I'm worried about things going back to how they used to be… before yesterday's events. They're never around and I feel lost in this place without them, quite literally. I never leave the apartment because I don't want to burden them if I got lost. I thought it'd be fun after moving here but clearly I was wrong. I think about going back to China a lot recently. Maybe I should just go back home…”

“I’ve thought like that before, too.” LiNa stopped her problem solving once again. “I'm originally from the states, I'm from California. I moved here near the end of high school and it was pretty tough trying to learn the language all of a sudden and finding my way around the city. It took a while before I met Mei Yi. She comes from Australia, maybe we're not from the same country, but we still relate. We helped each other out and eventually got the hang of it because we didn't give up.” She could see her words got through to Minghao judging by how his expression changed. “I don't know why you came to Korea, but if you really feel like it's not for you then you can go back to your homeland. There's no harm in just trying something new, even if it doesn't work out. It's an experience.”

“You're right.” A smile started to form on his lips. “Thank you again.”

“No problem!” She beamed, she loved it when she could help others.

“I'll try harder. I should… not rely only on my roommates. I need to go out and explore the city myself and learn.”

“Exactly! And if you ever feel lost, you can call for help, I'll be there!”

“Alright.” Minghao’s mood had drastically changed now.

“You should still establish a good relationship with your roommates, okay?”

“I understand.” He pouted.

“Good!”

“Finish your math problem.” He tapped on the piece of paper again and this time she was pouting. He only laughed before Mei Yi and Junhui returned to the table with a few books.

“How's everything going? Is she being a good student?” Mei Yi asked while taking a seat across from LiNa. Junhui naturally sat next to her since there were only four seats at the table.

“Yes.” Minghao nodded before looking to Junhui. “Is he being a bad student?”

“Yah!” Junhui pouted, but he noticed Minghao was in a better mood at least. He supposed LiNa had talked with him while they were looking for the math books.

“By the way, aren't those friends of yours, hyung?” Minghao asked and pointed behind Junhui.

“Huh?” He turned in his seat and noticed Mingyu's friends two tables over, focused and studying. “Oh yeah, I know them.” He nodded. He looked around the room to see who else might be here and he did see more familiar faces.

It seemed like hardly anyone was noticing their surroundings since Daniel and his friends had showed up and filled in the table across the room from BooSeokSoonSol and JunHao’s table. Then Jicheol showed up and picked a table near Daniel’s, but this time, one of his friends noticed Jihoon and said something.

JiCheol's side

“Hey~! You came to study, too?” It was Jooheon.

“Yes.” Jihoon simply answered with a friendly smile. He greeted the others at the table before his eyes remained on Hyungwon. The older definitely knew why he was staring and he simply smiled and got up to go sit at Jicheol’s table for a moment. He told Daniel he’d be back.

“Hey.” He greeted Jihoon and Seungcheol.

“Hey.” Jihoon simply said and looked troubled. “How have you been?”

“I've been okay, and you?” Hyungwon said with a weak smile. “How's Ren?”

“He's… I don't know.” Jihoon looked affected by that and Seungcheol worried. He rested a hand on his shoulder hoping it'd help him.

“And Soo Min?”

“I'm not sure.”

“Won Woo?”

Jihoon didn't respond this time and Seungcheol gave Hyungwon a serious look, like he didn't like him making Jihoon upset like this. “I just had to ask.” Hyungwon said with a mix of an apologetic smile and a bitter one. “We should talk soon, okay?” His words were directed at Jihoon who nodded in reply.

Meanie’s side

Daniel still didn’t know what was going on and he could tell Wonho did by the way he watched Hyungwon talk to Jihoon behind them. Damn, did something serious happen? He wondered. Just as he was going to pull his phone out to text Won Woo, he showed up with a friend. “I’m here.” Won Woo said with a small nervous smile.

“Oh, hey! You really are alive.” Daniel joked before glancing to his own friends. He quickly introduced him before asking who he brought.

“I brought… my friend. Mingyu.” Won Woo explained. “The friend I mentioned before.” Daniel remembered now.

“Nice to meet you.” Daniel gave Mingyu a friendly smile and he returned that smile back. He was definitely not bothered with Won Woo introducing him as his friend, because he knew Won Woo probably hasn’t told a lot of people about his secret just yet. He could tell it was that when he hesitated on introducing him. Even though Mingyu was on the same page, Won Woo was still worried and even guilty about it. He wished it was as easy as saying “Hey, this is my boyfriend.” but it wasn’t, at least not for now. I’ll tell them soon. He promised himself.

“Hey, Won Woo. How’s Soo Min?” A female voice spoke up and he turned to see Min Ji sitting beside her brother Wonho. She was concerned for Soo Min, but she was also a little dejected to see Won Woo with Mingyu right now. After all, her secret about crushing on Won Woo came out the other night after Soo Min said Won Woo had a boyfriend. So she knew who Mingyu was and understood why he introduced him as his “friend”, it was just a little bittersweet at the moment.

“She’s doing better.” He assured her with a soft smile. Daniel knew it, he had a feeling something happened regarding Soo Min that night. But he can’t make them talk, so he just remained quiet. Meanwhile, Mingyu had already struck up a conversation with Daniel’s friends and Min Ji. Both Won Woo and Daniel were impressed at how quick Mingyu was getting along with them. “I guess now’s our chance to go over the study guide.” He pointed out and Won Woo agreed before stepping over to take the empty seat that was in front of him.

“No one was sitting here, right?” Won Woo asked a second later and was ready to get up again.

“Ah, it’s fine. He went to talk to Jihoon over there.” Daniel said and looked over his shoulder to point to Hyungwon and Jicheol a table over. Won Woo ended up locking eyes with Jihoon and they stared at each other for a second before waving and chuckling at how silly that was. They acted like it was incredibly rare to see each other out in public like this. Then Won Woo noticed Soo Min in the very back talking with Jeonghan Jisoo, and Chan, they hadn’t noticed them yet, but he’d be sure to go greet them before they leave for sure. Now that he’s spotted familiar faces, he glanced around the room to see if there were any more familiar faces around. He spotted Mingyu’s friends! At this point, Kyong Tak and Buffy had left a few minutes after Sebin and his friends left, thank goodness or else there might have been a chaotic scene had Buffy bumped into Jeon Won Woo today.

Sorry not sorry

“It feels like everyone managed to show up to the library at the same time.” Won Woo pointed out and mentioned there were a lot of people he knew in this room.

“Seems that way!” Daniel was amused as well, even if he didn’t really know everyone. Then more people entered the room and Daniel asked if he knew them as well.

Won Woo stared at one person in particular across the room from them for a second until Ren noticed him and they locked eyes. Jihoon had noticed as well and was staring his way too. And finally, Soo Min noticed them from the back. The three were all staring at Ren and he finally snapped out of it and gave a friendly wave while scratching the back of his neck. So much attention! Before he knew it, Won Woo was walking up to him, Jihoon as well and of course Soo Min last. It was like the Trio stopped everything they were doing and rushed to him. “Uh, hi~!” Ren greeted. “I guess we all decided to come to the library at the same time, wow!”

“Are you okay?” Soo Min and Jihoon asked in sync and confused Won Woo for a second.

“Did something happen?” He asked, worried.

“I’m okay.” Ren assured the two before facing Won Woo. “Earlier, I kind of saw Soo Min and our father in traffic. It was a small shock but I got over it now, I’m okay. Really.” His smile was sincere and it seemed to ease the SooJi duo a little. “I sent you a text, but I guess you didn’t see it yet because you were busy.” He gestured to the group he left behind him. “By the way, you guys should go back! Don’t leave your friends hanging because of me. We will see each other later!”

“But…” Soo Min wasn’t fond of that idea about waiting but she supposed he had a point. That was pretty rude of her to abruptly leave Chan while she was helping him study, but she was sure he understands after Jeonghan told him about Ren.

“It’s just for another hour or so, right?” Jihoon pointed out after looking at the time on the clock nearby. They hadn’t been there for more than ten minutes, it would be such a waste if they left now.

“Does it have to be in an hour?” Won Woo surprised them with his lonely tone. It wasn’t like they kept him out of the look, he just didn’t noticed he had gotten a text from Ren. Hearing his encounter in traffic with his father really worried him and he wanted to make sure he was really okay and he didn’t want to leave his side just yet, even though it was important to study right now.  Ren could see Won Woo was hiding his feelings and gave a sad smile before reaching out to take his brother’s hand into his.

“We can go now if you want?” Seeing that brotherly moment got Soo Min’s emotions going, despite she saw them together yesterday at the hospital, it was very short. He spent the whole day with Ren and it was clear that he already missed his brother. It was bittersweet. Jihoon noticed her struggle and pulled her close to his side to comfort her at least. She was happy that he was here too, she spent more time with Jihoon and had missed him as well.

“Why don’t we just study at your house, Ren?” Jihoon suggested.

“That sounds good.” The older nodded. “What about your friends though?” He asked and looked to see all of them had migrated CLOSER and were crowding around the three tables near them, watching, but not really eavesdropping since there were too far to hear their quiet chat. “What in the world?” He muttered and the Trio turned to see everyone behind them. They all gave them a supportive smile given they could just tell something was going on with them by their body language.

“They can come too, right?” Won Woo turned to Ren. “They said your house is so big… there should be enough room, right?”

“Yeah, that would be fun.” Soo Min grinned and clasped her hands together like she was hoping for Ren to agree.

“Uhm.” Ren wasn’t sure how to answer and glanced to the many faces behind her and Jihoon. “I guess we can do that.” He stuttered out. It wasn’t like he didn’t want to, it was just… there were so many people, more than there was last night at the hospital!

“Don’t worry, at least this way you can properly meet everyone, right?” Jihoon pointed out. Ren didn’t think of that and was more comfortable with the idea now.

“Alright. Then… let’s go to my house.” He smiled.

Soo Min volunteered to invite everyone to Ren’s house and they were all up for it. Watching them all pile out of the library was a sight to see! It was like a classroom field trip of some sort and they were definitely stared at by other students who came to study. Just who in the world were those people?!

WooMin + JiHan + Chan

Getting to Ren’s house wasn’t too challenging since both Baekho and Youngmi brought their cars. Ren and his friends rode with Baekho, naturally while Youngmi was able to give a lift to JunHao and the two girls and Seungcheol gave a lift to Mingyu and his friends. Hyungwon brought his own car as well as Kihyun, so they were covered. Jihoon tagged along with Hyungwon since Seungcheol’s car was too full and he sure as hell was not going to illegally ride in the backseat either! Jeonghan, Jisoo and Chan naturally tagged along with Won Woo and Soo Min in her car.

Since it had been so long since Chan had seen Won Woo, he got to sit up front while the SooHan couple and Jisoo sat in the back seat together. It was a pretty interesting situation for Jisoo at least since he somehow found himself sitting in the middle. Soo Min was a bit late getting into the car earlier because she was telling the others goodbye, despite they’d be seeing each other in a matter of thirty minutes, Jisoo thought that was silly but cute. He had frowned at himself for thinking such things so suddenly, especially with Jeonghan sitting right next to him. Not cute cute, just cute. Adorable? He questioned in his mind. When she opened the door to get in, she had got in through Jisoo’s side and it forced him to move over to the middle, so he was sandwiched in between the couple now. How did I get myself into this mess? He felt defeated. Sitting between Jeonghan, whom he had strange feelings for, and Soo Min, whom made him nervous all of a sudden. At least he wasn’t getting a jealous Jeonghan on his case right now, probably because he trusted Jisoo. And he definitely could. I just haven’t been around girls that much, that’s all… I’m just nervous because of that. He assured himself. It made sense after all. Soo Min’s never really interacted with him this much before so it was a new experience. That’s all.

Because Jisoo was lost in thoughts about all of that, he hadn’t noticed the couple talking about the sudden trip to Ren’s house. Jeonghan was worried about Soo Min and had put his arm around Jisoo’s shoulder so he could rest his hand on her shoulder. Almost like a sly move yet… he was just trying to get to his girlfriend. Poor Jisoo felt like his face was turning red and he tried to think of something else to hide it, to stop it. Won Woo seemed to notice him through the rearview mirror and frowned a bit. He figured Jisoo must be uncomfortable about Jeonghan casually doing that. He knew sometimes some people just don’t like to be touched, even though he lets Jeonghan cling on him all the time, but when it’s something like this, it seems kind of inconvenient.

“I’m okay, don’t worry.” Soo Min assured Jeonghan by patting his hand on her shoulder. At least after that response Jeonghan retracted his arm. Jisoo wasn’t too tense now and Won Woo was glad that he didn’t have to intervene just now, but he was curious about it. Naturally Won Woo worried about Jisoo because he’s a good friend of his, ever since high school. He was a special person to him once before so of course he’d look out for him because of that fondness. He trusted that he didn’t have feelings for him anymore since he’s with Mingyu now. But he wouldn’t really know for sure since he hadn’t hung out with Jisoo in a long time, that worried him. So far, things seem to be okay, he wasn’t feeling any different now that he was in the same car as Jisoo, he assumed it’d be the same at Ren’s house and everywhere else. Until we’re alone? That’d probably be the ultimate test. He shouldn’t think about if for now anyways.

“Say, Channie, how’s school?” Soo Min spoke up when she got bothered by the silence in the car. “Anything new and exciting happen lately?”

“Oh, nothing really.” He said with a sheepish smile. “I’ve been getting good grades.”

“Awesome, my little Charmander is so smart!” She gushed. “Pretty soon he will evolve… I don’t think I’m ready!” She suddenly wailed.

“Noona, don’t start!” He laughed. She was just like his hyung, he swore they both loved to baby him, as if he was their son. “I won’t evolve for a while, you can relax.”

“Good. Because I’m not ready for you to grow up yet either.” Jeonghan pouted. Chan sighed in defeat while both Jisoo and Won Woo laughed. These three were really something.

2 Won and 2 Ji

“So, how’s school?” Wonho asked in the passenger seat of Hyungwon’s car. Jihoon and Min Ji were sitting in the backseat quietly. He could see his younger sister was visibly nervous and he thought it was adorable.

“Anything interesting you want to share?” Hyungwon added on.

“Not much other than just classwork and homework.” Jihoon simply replied to them and turned to see if Min Ji had an answer. “What about you? How’s classes with Soo Min?”

“Great!” She blurted out with a nervous giggle. “Great, just great.”

“Really?” Jihoon chuckled, he didn’t want to say he didn’t really believe her because they were talking about Chae Soo Min after all, but he supposed she was telling the truth as well.

“Any boyfriends you haven’t told us about?” Hyungwon asked and Jihoon stilled for a second before he realized he had most likely been talking to Min Ji.

“No!” She almost shouted and they flinched.

“You don’t need to shout.” Wonho scolded.

“School is important. School first boys last, just like Soo Min said!” Min Ji said with a cute angry pout.

“But she has a boyfriend, so that goes against what she said, doesn’t it?” Wonho joked.

“Now’s not a good time to get into relationships while the semester is still going on, so just focus on your school work.” Jihoon said with a small smile. “You can date during break or something, but just don’t get into a relationship during school or it might affect your performance. Soo Min’s been dating Jeonghan for three years now so they’re able to focus on their school work just fine.”

“Right.” Min Ji agreed with him.

“Yah… I was supposed to say all of that!” Wonho pouted at Jihoon who simply apologized with a small laugh.

“What about you, Oppa? Any girlfriends you haven’t told me about?” Min Ji asked back and she could see him hesitate. She also noticed Hyungwon tense up a bit and she thought that was odd. “Don’t keep secrets from me!” She frowned.

“I won’t!” Wonho assured her. “You’ll be the first one I tell when I get a girlfriend.”

“Be sure to tell me too.” Hyungwon said with a snicker, it looked playful at first but somehow a hint of bitterness found its way through.

Jihoon wasn’t sure what to make of that just now, but he supposed he shouldn’t think about it too much or even get nosy about it. He hardly knows Hyungwon because of how absent he’s been through the years. It was nothing he should be concerned about. But it somehow reminded him of his own reaction when Hyungwon even brought up relationships, how quick he was to freeze up and hesitate on an answer.

He could have just said no, but Hyungwon had said boyfriend and that would have made him suspicious, wouldn’t it? It would have been awkward for him even if he made an excuse like “My bad, I wasn’t listening properly.” He let out a quiet sigh and tried to think about something else for the rest of the ride, he didn’t want to show up to Ren’s house in a weird mood. Min Ji decided to do that same, now that she’d be witnessing Won Woo next to Mingyu for a while. She should focus on something else.

Both Wonho and Hyungwon were quiet up in the front now and they both knew why. The younger seemed bitter despite he was the one who even brought up the question about boyfriends to the older’s younger sister. If anything, Wonho was slightly amused but felt sorry to him. It wasn’t like I could say anything different. He thought while looking out the passenger side window with a quiet sigh. He’s the one keeping it secret. He shouldn’t even be mad at me in the first place. Hyungwon focused on his driving while Wonho worried about what was to come later when they talk about this.

Mother Ki Big Bear Nu and the Chikadees

“It’s nice we finally got to meet your friend.” Kihyun mentioned while they were stopped at a traffic light. “He was so nice.”

“He’s a nice guy, yeah.” Daniel chuckled. Kihyun sounded like his mother just now and he couldn’t help but laugh. “But I didn’t know you guys were friends with his friend Jihoon?”

“We got a class together this semester, though we don’t normally get to sit and talk with him because he prefers to be solo during class.” Jooheon explained. “He focuses better that way, I guess.”

“I see.” Daniel nodded and looked to Minhyuk who gave him a bright smile, it was cute and Daniel couldn’t help but feel warm and fuzzy in the most platonic way, Minhyuk was such a happy virus and his good moods were always contagious. “So, you know Soo Min’s boyfriend?”

“Yes! We have class together this semester.” He nodded. “Kihyun and I both.”

“Nice. I suppose we’re all connected to their side in one way or another. It’s too bad we don’t get to see them very often…” Daniel really wished things were different, he misses talking to Won Woo like he did in high school. Lately he hadn’t been able to talk to him outside of campus, it’s been incredibly hard to meet up with him and he understood his friends have their own lives… it just seemed like he was more included in Kihyun and the rest’s lives than Won Woo’s. That’s okay. He assured himself. I just gotta reach out more. He could try to visit Won Woo at his apartment, but he knew Soo Min lived with him so he always chickened out. He really needed to get over his shyness around girls.

“Just invite them out more?” Jooheon suggested. “Since they were kind enough to invite us over to Ren’s house, it’s our chance to get more acquainted and get their contact information.”

“You make it sound like we’re on a mission of some sort?” Kihyun pouted and eyed him through the rearview mirror.

“We are! Mission: Gain more friends~!” Jooheon beamed with a wide smile, he seemed pretty excited and that was good.

“More friends, yes!” Minhyuk was also on board. Shownu quietly smiled in the front, he liked to see his friends happy.

“What about you, looking forward to new friends?” Kihyun gave him a warm smile.

“Of course.” Shownu smiled back. “I hope there will be food.”

Kihyun’s warm smile dissolved into a snicker and he looked back to their friends in the backseat. Daniel face palmed while Minhyuk and Jooheon sighed and laughed. The big bear has to eat, that’s all there is to it!

… JunHao + MeiLiMi

“I love your nails!” Mei Yi gushed when she noticed Youngmi’s freshly painted nails when she tapped on the steering wheel, they were waiting at a stoplight right now.

“Thanks, I just got them done earlier with Ren.” Youngmi smiled and let the girl examine them CLOSER. LiNa got interested and tried to scoot up to see but her seatbelt kept her back, it even pushed her back and she made a small “oof” when it happened.

“Careful.” Junhui chuckled and helped pull the belt strap off a bit so it wasn’t constricting her shoulder. She was seated to his right while Minghao was seated to his left. He was in the middle again.

“You mean Ren as in, the model Ren? The Ren from just now? The one we're going to his house?” Mei Yi blurted out with a slight gasp. “You know him personally?!”

“Yes, I’m his friend’s cousin.” Youngmi nodded. “I take it you’re a fan?”

“Yes! I tried so hard not to scream in the library earlier when I saw him!” Mei Yi was on full fangirl mode now and Junhui thought it was cute, yet, he felt kinda jealous. Chances are, maybe she likes Ren? “Do you know Hyungwon as well?!” I picked the wrong girl to like?! Junhui pouted in his seat. “I love his Choi Rina’s work and her son's own work too. Hyungwon is so handsome and Ren is so gorgeous, I’m so jealous! He’s prettier than I’ll ever be.”

“Don’t say that Mei Yi, you’re beautiful already!” LiNa scolded. “I love you just the way you are!”

“Thanks, LiNa, I love you too girl.” Mei Yi looked back at her friend with a puppy dog look. Both Junhui and Minghao were taken aback and they didn’t understand what just happened.

“Awh, true friendship!” Youngmi grinned. “I’m jealous.”

“Ah, don’t be! You just went to the nail salon with Ren! The REN!” Mei Yi went back to her fangirl antics and this time Junhui laughed. He suppose it was just a mere crush and that was all, even guys get that way about favorite female celebrities. He can’t give up just yet, he was just getting to know her after all.

“True, I guess I don’t need to be jealous.” Youngmi said with a teasing grin and Mei Yi pouted.

“I didn’t need you to rub it in my face.” Poor Mei Yi.

“That’s okay, you got me~!” LiNa said from the backseat and was going to scoot up again so she could put her arms around the seat to giver her friend a back hug, but that stupid seatbelt stopped her again and she went back against the seat. “For real, this seatbelt is against our love, Mei Yi~!”

“Here’s an idea… just undo the seatbelt.” Minghao said on his side of the car. He raised his eyebrow at her and she pouted before doing as he suggested.

“Mei Yi~!” LiNa exclaimed and was about to hug her friend but she fell back when Youngmi stepped on the gas because of the green light. Even the stop light was green with envy. Junhui managed to help lessen the impact of LiNa’s fall, so she was safe and unharmed. Minghao couldn’t stop laughing though, even when she complained for him to stop, he only laughed harder.

Jun: You like that girl, don’t you?
Minghao: Shut up.

Seungcheol and BooSeokSoonSolGyu~!

“Are you sure you’re okay back there?” Seungcheol asked with worry.

“I’m fine, hyung, don’t worry!” Seungkwan assured him with a happy smile. He was currently sitting in his boyfriend’s lap in the backseat by the window. Since Seungkwan refused to go in Kihyun’s car because he didn’t want to be separated and he also didn’t want his other friends to be separated from their group, they crammed into the backseat. Mingyu sat up in the front with Seungcheol while the BooSeokSoonSol group sat in the backseat.  The oldest was a bit nervous since he didn’t know if he would get pulled over for this on the way to Ren’s place, that would be embarrassing!

“Sorry about this, hyung.” Mingyu apologized with an apologetic smile. “They do this all the time.”

“No worries! As long as everyone’s safe and doesn’t get get hurt.” Seungcheol assured him. “Sorry that you didn’t get to ride with Won Woo.”

“It’s fine! It’s nice to change things up every now and then.” Mingyu gave a smile but Seungcheol cold tell he was bothered by something.

“Hey, you don’t need to tell me anything if you don’t want to, but you guys seem a bit bothered by something today? Is there something wrong? You can talk to me, you can trust me, I’m just worried, that’s all.” All five of them looked at him in awe, he was so kind, so nice, so sweet. They could just tell he was a good hyung, a hyung they could come talk to if needed since they were all still pretty young right now.

“I saw my ex boyfriend today.” Mingyu admitted. Since Seungcheol said he could talk to him, he decided to talk instead of hide it. He talked to Won Woo earlier after he first saw Sangho from the delivery, but now he saw him at the library too. Won Woo wasn’t really good with words so he was only able to help to an extent. He was planning on talking to his friends later when they get home, but they were on their way to Ren’s place now. But here was Seungcheol, inviting them to talk while they wait on getting to their sudden plans with Ren. Mingyu’s friends are here with him, so he might as well talk now.

“Oh man, sorry to hear that.” Seungcheol was very sincere with his reply and while Mingyu never wants anyone to pity him, it made him feel better.

“So you saw him?” Seungkwan asked with a hurt tone. “We’re sorry, if we knew you were coming to the library, we would have stopped you.”

“No, it doesn’t matter.” Mingyu shook his head and looked back at them. “I saw him at Won Woo’s place, we ordered take out and… Sangho happened to be the delivery guy.” The car was full of silence after that. “Won Woo was there to help comfort me so, I’m okay now. I’m just still bothered by it though, that’s all.”

“That’s only natural.” Seungcheol said and reached out to put a comforting hand on his shoulder. “I don’t know a lot about your past relationship with this Sangho guy, but it’s okay to be upset. You shouldn’t feel like you need to get over it so quickly. If you need, I can take you guys home instead. I’m sure Ren and the others will understand.”

Mingyu frowned when he actually considered that, and he looked back at his friends who looked like they were considering it as well. “No, that’s okay. I still want to go to Ren’s place.” Mingyu managed a small smile. “What about you guys?”

“I want to go see Ren, too!” Seungkwan blurted out and they could tell it was because he got attached to the model after visiting him in the hospital.

“Yeah, we want to go still. It should be fun, right?” Soonyoung said on the other two’s behalf.

“It should be.” Seungcheol nodded. “You’ll be surrounded with good friends.”

“Right.” Mingyu smiled. “Thanks.”

“No problem!” Seungcheol was happy that he could help Mingyu and his friends in a time like this. “We’re almost there, so let’s talk about something more fun for now?”

“Okay, like what?” Seungkwan asked curiously.

“Whatever you want?” Seungcheol said happily.

Seungkwan went on to talk away about a kdrama he recently got into, he told them they should check it out but then proceeded to spoil the entire show. Poor Hansol could only listen and smile lovingly at his boyfriend while everyone else suffered the rest of the ride to Ren’s place.

… NU'EST

Everyone was excited from this turn of events but also nervous. There were so many people, it was definitely going to be a full on party or something when they get to Ren’s house for sure!

“Wow, good thing Minhyun bought a lot of food.” Aron pointed out while watching the cars following behind him. It was Soo Min’s car and he waved. Chan waved back and he chuckled. Though it stopped when he saw Jeonghan’s intense eyes peeking around from the headrest behind him. Even Won Woo gave him a warning look!

“But there’s more than I thought, what if it’s not enough?” Minhyun worried next to him. He was in the middle between Aron and Ren.

“It’s okay, don’t worry about it. We can figure something out when the time comes.” JR assured him from the front passenger seat. At least he said something positive and Minhyun relaxed a little. There were in for a long evening, he could tell, but at least it was going to be a good thing instead of a bad thing. No stress or worries, just fun and entertainment!

Ren hoped this small get together would be fun. He hoped Won Woo would have fun. He hoped Soo Min would have fun. He hoped Jihoon would have fun. He hoped everyone would have fun. He didn’t want anything to go wrong today, he didn’t want anymore drama. But he knew it’s hard to avoid that so at least he hoped only he had to go through drama and not the rest. He’d take one for the team!

Minhyun was holding his hand next to him and rubbing his thumb over Ren’s index knuckle quite a lot. He could tell his boyfriend was stressed about something, and it was easy to guess what it was. Ren moved his thumb so he could stop Minhyun’s and switched it up so that Ren was rubbing his thumb over Minhyun’s, as if to let him know he caught his stressing habit. Minhyun looked at him a bit startled before seeing Ren smile, ensuring him he was just fine. He appreciated that and leaned over for a quick and sweet kiss.

“Ew, can you guys like not kiss while I’m sitting right next to you?” Aron said in a disgusted tone.

“Aron.” Baekho said in a scolding tone. “Be nice.”

“Bu-” Aron was complaining until JR turned to look at him from the front passenger seat with a scolding look. “You don’t scare me!” He stuck his tongue out. JR scoffed and sat back in his seat properly before he messed with the seat adjustment. He scooted the seat back and lowered the seat which trapped Aron. “Yah! Stop!”

“What, did you guys hear something?” JR asked and the other laughed in amusement.

“This isn’t funny!” Aron pouted. “Get off! Help!” He reached out and grabbed Minhyun’s arm to pull him over. Ren instantly grabbed the other side of his boyfriend’s arm and pulled him back, like a game, tug of war.

“Okay, you can stop now.” Baekho said to JR who reluctantly broke his seat back forward and fixed the adjustments back to normal.

On Aron’s last pull, Ren could feel something pop on the other side of Minhyun’s shoulder and his boyfriend let out a small “ow”. “Let go, face!” Ren leaned over to force Aron’s hand off. “You’re going to dismantle my boyfriend at this rate!”

“He’s stronger than that! He’s Optimus Hwang, remember?” Aron laughed but let go since he was free from JR’s seat now. “And face? Where is that coming from?” He pouted when he realized what Ren had said.

“That’s for me to know and you to never find out.” Ren snickered before checking on Minhyun.

“I’m fine.” He assured his lover. “Thanks for saving me, you’re my hero.” He gushed and gave Ren a kiss to his cheek. He was obviously trying to get on Aron’s nerves right now.

“Gross, can you guys not-” JR’s seat made a comeback. “Not again!”

... NU'SVT X - Party Time

Ren found himself standing at the bottom of the stairs waiting for everyone to take their shoes off and coats at the front door shortly after arriving home. They piled their bags on top of each other because there wasn’t enough room by the door! Minhyun and Baekho quickly helped them out with that when they noticed and put some of their coats into a nearby storage closet along with some of their bags. They made sure to remind their owners where it was before everyone finally gave their attention to Ren.

He stood there, looking at all of them and suddenly felt a bit nervous and shy but managed to clear his throat and speak. “Hello, I’m Ren, as most of you already know. This is my house, my mother Rina bought it for me shortly after I moved to Seoul. I hope… we can all get along well. I look forward to getting to know you all better since we’re all connected through our friends. Feel free to visit whenever you’d like too, because I’m the only one who lives here.” He said with a hint of loneliness in his smile.

“He has a pool!” Soo Min blurted out a few seconds later and pointed to the back sliding door in the dining area to the right of the stairs, then there was the kitchen.

“Why are you so random?” Jihoon nudged her with a small laugh, everyone else let out a few chuckles here and there.

“I guess now, I’ll try to get something ready for us to eat. Make yourselves at home until then.” Ren said with a happy smile and gestured for them to head into the living room. Everyone nodded and started to pile into the living room except for SooJiWoo trio and Minhyun.

“No way, is that a karaoke machine?!” They heard Soonyoung blurt out and Aron confirmed it for him.

“Can we use it?!” Seungkwan asked with that puppy eyed expression. Mingyu face palmed and gave an apologetic smile towards Ren who only chuckled and gave the okay. At least everyone could be entertained by the Gag trio while Ren figures out what to do about the food.

“So, change of plans, obviously.” Ren said with a sheepish laugh. “You two don’t mind, do you?” He was worried if his siblings wouldn’t like other intruding on their planned dinner.

“I’m okay with it.” Soo Min assured him and looked to Won Woo.

“I’m okay with it, too. We can always do our dinner another time.” He suggested. “For now, we can just have some fun with everyone.”

“Alright, I’m glad this is working out.” Ren was relieved. “Any ideas on what we should do about the food?”

“Why don’t we order a catering service, they can be here by the time you three originally planned to have dinner. While we wait, everyone can have fun with the karaoke machine.” Minhyun said and turned to look at the kitchen. “We could make some snacks in the meantime?”

“That sounds like a good idea! I’m sure everyone is a bit hungry right now.” Soo Min agreed. “I can help!” She volunteered excitedly.

“Me too.” Won Woo raised his hand.

“Me three.” Jihoon raised his hand.

“Me forth!” They suddenly heard Mingyu say behind them. “Sorry, I was coming over to see what the plan was now that we’re all here. We all agreed on coming here to study, right? But…” he turned back to see his friends belting out lyrics to an Orange Caramel song and sighed. “Seems like it changed when my friends noticed the karaoke machine. Sorry.”

“No, it’s perfectly fine!” Ren assured him. “I’m glad your friends are keeping everyone entertained while we figure things out. Minhyun just suggested we order a catering service for dinner. We were going to make some snacks in the meantime.”

“I see, then I can definitely help in the kitchen!” Mingyu grinned.

“Great! Thank you.” Ren beamed and Minhyun started leading them into the kitchen, though Ren noticed Soo Min didn’t follow and was staring into the living room where everyone else was. It almost looked like a mini concert. “What’s wrong?”

“Oh,” she turned to face him before looking back to the living room. “It’s just… I thought we should talk to Hyungwon. He’s your cousin now, I want to tell him about this afternoon… when we were in traffic.” It seemed like the person they were talking about noticed them and made his way over after Junhui elbowed him in the side and told him to go see what it was all about.

“Hi.” He greeted them and was visibly quiet and a little tense.

“Hey, can we talk? Again?” Soo Min asked with a worried smile. “Let’s go to the kitchen.” He agreed and followed his cousins to the other room. He greeted the others when he entered and right away, they all knew something was going to happen, a serious talk of some sort.

Aron's Impromptu Talk Show ft. his cousin Ruby Red Lipstick~ lol

“I can’t believe it, we’re in Ren’s house!” Mei Yi gushed in a whisper.

“Mei Yi, focus.” LiNa said calmly while latched onto her friends arm. She was keeping her from running around the place like a crazy fangirl.

“You can relax, there’s not much to see around here anyway.” Youngmi assured them. “Besides, there’s so many people we gotta meet now.” She gestured to the large group of people nearby. “Let’s get to it!” She said while leading the way.

They ended up bumping into Aron who stopped her and asked who her new friends were. “They’re pretty cute!” Suddenly, Junhui materialized next to Mei Yi.

LOL for real, Jun… (ignore his wound)

“Hi, I’m Jun.” He greeted. “We’ve seen each other around on campus.”

“I remember.” Aron laughed. “Nice to see you again.” He said before he glanced around the room and frowned, there were just way too many people right now, it’d take all night to meet them at this rate. “I think I have a plan.” He muttered to Youngmi and dragged her over to the Karaoke system JR was helping set up for the BooSeokSoon trio.

“What are you up to?” Youngmi worried. She had no idea what her cousin could be thinking!

“Just wait and see.” He assured her. Once JR was finished plugging in the mic, he handed it over to who he thought was Seungkwan but it turned out to be Aron.

“Hey, what are yo-”

“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the house of the one and only, Choi Ren~! We’re glad to see so many people show up tonight, but it’s shame we hardly know any of you, so let’s fix that shall we? Let’s do something fun! An impromptu interview to get acquainted, what do you say? Youngmi and I will make sure not to embarrass you, don’t worry and don’t be shy!”

“Aron! I swear to go-” JR was shouting but Aron spoke louder into the mic.

“Huh, did you guys hear that?” He asked around the room. “I thought I heart a gust of wind?” It suddenly felt like a comedy show when everyone laughed behind JR. He wasn’t a poor sport about it since he could tell Ren and Minhyun weren’t present at the moment, neither were Soo Min and her friends so he assumed they were in the other room talking about today’s events. At least with this idea of Aron’s everyone could be entertained for a short while.

“You sir, step right up, you’re first!” Youngmi said happily and gestured for JR to come up to be their first victim. He sighed and walked over while everyone else clapped.

“This really turned into some sort of talk show?!” He pouted and once again, the audience laughed.

“Let’s get started, shall we?”

Aron: *embarrassed* LOL It’s for the readers!

JR: Nice save.

interrupt your fun program for a kdrama scene, sorry lol

“Should I go?” Mingyu asked when Ren came into the kitchen with Soo Min and Hyungwon. He wasn’t really a big part of this situation and didn’t want to be rude by listening in if he wasn’t supposed to.

“No, it’s okay, you can stay.” Soo Min assured him. “I just wanted to tell you guys about this afternoon, when I went to lunch with my dad.” They all gave her their full attention and she took a deep breath and was ready to begin, but someone interrupted them at the kitchen entrance. It was Jeonghan and he looked worried. He had seen Hyungwon leave off to the kitchen with Soo Min and Ren, even though he would have liked to participate in Aron’s impromptu talk show, he just had to come see if everything was okay. He had a feeling something was going to happen and worried if it would cause her stress. He told himself not to go because he didn’t need to be there for her all the time, she had her friends with her right now, she’d be okay! But his body had a mind of its own and brought him over to the kitchen.

“Sorry.” He apologized. “I… got worried.” He admitted and they all could understand.

“That’s okay.” Soo Min smiled and gestured for him to join them. “I was just going to explain what happened with my dad earlier.” He nodded and stood by Ren’s side while she turned and faced the others. She took another deep breath and began to explain what happened. She mentioned how she planned to confront her father about the affair and Ren soon. Soon came sooner than expected and she decided she had to say something, but while she was mustering up the courage to speak, they saw Ren during traffic. It was definitely a shock by how coincidental it was, the encounter lasted for a few minutes before traffic started to move again and she said she saw Baekho pull the car over.

“I brought it up while he was driving and then I said it. I told him that I knew about Ren and the affair and he pulled over so we could talk. It was clear that he was shaken up too, seeing Ren like that, especially with me in the same view. He tried to play dumb at first when I brought it up but I didn’t let him get far. He was definitely guilty about it… it was difficult facing him like that.” Her expression showed her struggling emotions. Ren rested his hand on her back to help comfort her since they were by each other’s side at the moment. “He apologized and told me he regretted not telling us sooner, but the timing was never good enough and so it went hidden for so long, up until now.”

“My father really wanted to say something all these years, but he knew it wasn’t his place to say despite telling me the whole story. I also had to keep it a secret this whole time and I also regret not saying anything sooner. It really wasn’t my place to say anything either but seeing Soo Min struggling so much the other night… I had to say something.” Hyungwon spoke up to her right and also rested a hand on her shoulder. “If I didn’t say anything, the truth would have most likely stayed hidden. Your dad would never have the guts to say anything.” His words were for Soo Min and Ren. “Your mom would never decide to say anything, either.” His words were for Won Woo and Ren this time. “And the rest like Jihoon’s parents, Soo Min’s mom and Won Woo’s dad… they’d stay quiet too, because the secret was too intense and the impact would be a lot stronger than if they told you when you were younger. They missed the perfect chance to tell you when your parents found out about Ren and the affair. Even if Soo Min’s mom was angry, even if Won Woo’s dad was angry… they should have told you instead of keeping it a secret and go as far as moving out of the country and leave Won Woo behind. That was a big mistake and it only caused so much confusion and suspicion, didn’t it?” The Trio nodded to his question when he looked at them.

“I always thought… it was my fault that they left.” Won Woo said in a quiet voice. Hyungwon hadn’t said anything yet and he took the chance to speak up. “A month before they decided to move, I had confided to Soo Min about something personal at my house. We thought my parents weren’t home that afternoon, but… after I told her that I knew I was gay, my dad happened to pass by my room to get to his room down the hall. We were shocked and worried that he overheard me say that. He didn’t act differently when he greeted us on his way back down the hallway though I always thought maybe he just pretended like he didn’t hear it. When they told me they were moving to the states for work and that I couldn’t go with them, my dad was unusually quiet that night and avoided eye contact with me the entire time. It was strange and it scared me. It felt like he knew and was disappointed in me or something… I know I can’t just assume that, but for the longest time, that’s how I felt about it.”

Mingyu wrapped his arm around Won Woo’s shoulder and brought him close to his side to comfort him while the rest clearly expressed they felt bad for him. Jeonghan had no idea and neither did Jihoon. This was news to Ren and Minhyun for sure, Hyungwon and Mingyu as well. Mingyu understood now why Won Woo was so hung up on that suspicion, he had good reasons to think the way he did after all. That phone call with his father yesterday morning must’ve really been unusual for Won Woo after all.

“My parents didn’t come to the airport that day they left. They almost stopped me from going, when I asked them why, they wouldn’t answer me but it was clear they were bothered by something, maybe even angry. I always thought our parents had a fight and decided to part ways, but leaving the country seemed a bit extreme. I’ve been confused ever since.” Soo Min explained and looked to Jihoon because she knew he probably had something to say, so she gave him the chance to speak next.

“I tried asking my parents about it a few times, but they could never answer me. They always managed to change the topic somehow. After a few times, they started to get annoyed and angry with me because I was pestering them about it a lot. I really wanted to know what happened. Soo Min and Won Woo weren’t happy and I felt so bad for them. Won Woo’s parents were overseas and he couldn’t really talk to them properly, Soo Min’s parents didn’t go anywhere but it was just the same, she couldn’t properly talk to them either. It was like they lost their parents, they drifted apart. I wanted to get to the bottom of the issue. I thought my parents might know something, maybe they could tell me? But they pushed me away every time I asked and eventually… my relationship with them started to drift apart too. Something happened that year and we never knew what it was. We didn’t think we’d ever know what it was. Our parents wouldn’t talk to us and things really changed. It was just the three of us then and so we stuck together closely, because it was like we only had each other now.”

Won Woo was tearing up. Soo Min was on the verge of crying, Ren too. Jeonghan was incredibly sad. Hyungwon was guilty and heart broken. Mingyu was about to cry and Minhyun struggled to keep his tears in. The emotions were running high this evening.

“Have you told them the story I told you?” Hyungwon asked Soo Min.

“I told Won Woo.” She nodded. “But I haven’t told them yet.” She gestured to Ren and Jihoon.

“Then I’ll do it.” Hyungwon said with a sad smile and patted her on the head. He figured she wouldn’t be able to get through it all without crying and sobbing. He was just glad everyone was too busy being entertained by BooSeokSoon’s mini concert in the living room, they heard everyone introducing themselves before Mingyu’s friends were next to perform some songs. “You should know that your mom loves you both. Even though she could have done everything differently, she thought of you both the entire time.” He started to explain. He went on to tell the same story he told Soo Min, about how Ren was adopted and the way things went after everyone found out. “There’s another big part to the story that can explain what this all happened in the first place, but your parents should tell it to you, not me.” He finished with an apologetic smile. He’s said enough, he can’t do all the story telling for his uncle.

Hearing the story had everyone heart broken once again, especially Ren. “I’m sorry.” He was the first to speak after Hyungwon.

“What for?” Minhyun asked across the room from him. “Why?”

“For living so freely without worries or stress my whole life. Even when I found out I was adopted, I didn’t let it bother me too much. I said I didn’t care for the ones who gave me up, why should I care about the parents who didn’t want me? My mom tried to tell me not to think that way, and I asked her why. Could she tell me anything about my birth parents and she would also avoid the topic. I stopped the first time, because I really didn’t care, my heart was set on not caring for people who abandoned me like that. I never knew the story so I never changed my feelings about it. That was until I met you two. And things started to change quickly. Here we are and I feel so ashamed for thinking that way before.”

“It’s okay.” Jeonghan finally spoke up and rested a hand on his shoulder. “That was in the past. What matters now is that you know the truth. I’m sure if anyone had to go through the things you went through, they would have felt the same way. That goes for the rest of you. Life can be so cruel, but these things can help you grow and mature as individuals. Even though it’s hard, you can get through it if you don’t think about giving up. Today… Soo Min could have chosen not to confront her dad, but she did. She chose not to give up on finding the truth. I know it must hurt finding out about all these secrets and misunderstandings, it may even lead you to mistrust those who’ve lied to you, but there’s always two sides to every story. You four have come a long way, you’re getting stronger with each encounter, so please, keep it up! I know there’s a happy ending waiting for you after all of this…”

They were stunned at Jeonghan’s sudden speech, but it definitely changed the atmosphere in the room, it wasn’t so heavy anymore. They needed to hear that. “Wow, you’re amazing.” Minhyun praised. “Thank you.”

“Of course.” Jeonghan said with a flustered smile. The attention was getting to him but he was going to pull through for them. “Was there anything else that needed to be said?” He asked towards the four who were much calmer now. Won Woo didn’t have much to say after his story, the same for Soo Min and Jihoon. Ren too. Hyungwon already said he shouldn’t say more. “How are you feeling? Is there anything you want to say to each other before we should wrap this up?” He sounded like a professional at this point and Soo Min was in awe and amused.

“Well,” Ren turned towards the other four and smiled. “I’m really happy that we’re together now. We will get the full truth soon and hopefully OVERCOME the secrets and misunderstandings. W should be able to build up the trust again and mend your relationships with your parents. I know it won’t be that easy at first, but I believe Jeonghan’s right, there has to be a happy ending waiting for us down the road. When that time comes, I hope we all can be CLOSER than we are now.” It was clear that they all felt the same.

“I copy and paste everything he just said.” Soo Min smiled sweetly and he rolled his eyes playfully with a small snicker.

“Me too.” Won Woo laughed.

“You two are so unoriginal.” Jihoon scolded with a laugh of his own. “But me three.”

Ren gawked at them and it caused Jeonghan and the other four to laugh in response.

“I won’t copy.” Hyungwon spoke up. “But I’m not sure what to say to that either.”

“It’s okay.” Ren assured him. “Don’t worry about it!”

“Well, I’m glad you five got to talk this out. Thanks for allowing us three to be present through it all… we appreciate that you trust us enough to let us hear it all.” Minhyun pointed out with a sincere smile. “That’s enough for today, right?” His expression faltered a bit. “No more tears, no more sadness… can we just be happy for the rest of today?”

Everyone had been through a lot today as is, Jeonghan with his bitter feelings earlier in his room at his shared apartment. Mingyu seeing his ex boyfriend at lunch and almost a second time at the library. Won Woo seeing his boyfriend upset and crying about his ex, hearing the story about Ren’s adoption from both Soo Min and Hyungwon, also telling his own story about his father possibly overhearing his private talk with Soo Min a month before his parents left him behind in Seoul. Jihoon worrying about Ren when he texted about his encounter with Soo Min and his father, and telling his story about drifting away with his parents. Soo Min’s encounter with her father and retelling the story to the others. Hyungwon’s guilt about it all. And lastly, Minhyun being heartbroken for Ren who just couldn’t catch a break with all these sudden encounters and surprises.

“I think we can.” Soo Min spoke up with with a hopeful smile. “Once we eat.”

“Oh right! I was supposed to call for the catering!” Minhyun quickly pulled out his phone and rushed out of the room to find a more quiet place to make the call. Right after he left the room, Baekho and a few of the others had come to the kitchen, they were curious on what was going on and why they hadn’t returned to the living room with the food he promised.

“We were just about to start!” Ren said with a sheepish laugh.

“Do you need any help?” Youngmi’s head peeked around Baekho’s shoulder. BooSeokSoon’s music program was still going on.

“We can help too!” Hyungwon’s friends Kihyun and Minhyuk squeezed their way in and nearly fell to the ground. Kihyun was the first to make it to Jeonghan’s side and Minhyuk was last, but he was the first to turn to Soo Min and say “Hi, remember me? We called out to you at the crosswalk last Sunday, October 4th on Jeonghan’s birthday.”

“Uh?” Soo Min was confused and looked to Jeonghan who face palmed where he stood. He looked defeated. “I think so.” She gave an apologetic smile.

“But you remember me, right?” Kihyun asked with a confident look. “We met when you came to our class building looking for my classmate Jihoon.”

“Right.” She nodded and saw Jeonghan’s eyes widen, he looked to Jihoon, as if he was surprised that they knew him. Both Mingyu and Won Woo chuckled at the scene before them. It was strange but amusing with how Hyungwon’s friends were acting like competitors.

“We also saw each other Thursday night at Min Ji’s house!” Minhyuk pointed out.

“That’s right.” Soo Min remembered now.

“What are you two doing?” Hyungwon asked with narrowed eyes. “Why is it so important that she remembers you?”

“Because! Jeonghan refused to let us meet her, so we made a bet on who’d get to meet her first.” Minhyuk blurted out. “We’d only be allowed to meet her if we got a girlfriend, but that’s just absurd! I don’t get it!” Everyone in the room face palmed besides Jeonghan and Minhyuk.

Hyungwon: Can we get back to the story?

While Jeonghan was dealing with his two friends, Soo Min managed to step away and faced Ren who had a big smile on his face when he gestured for Youngmi to come over. “Let me introduce you to Youngmi, Aron’s cousin.”

“Hello~!” Youngmi greeted cheerfully. “It’s nice to meet you, Soo Min!”

“Ah, nice to meet you too.” Soo Min said back with a nervous smile. It wasn’t like she made a lot of girl friends, so naturally it was different for her.

“You should meet Won Woo as well.” Ren quickly gestured for Won Woo to join them and he did. Mingyu also followed since he was interested on finding out who the other girl was in the room. Jeonghan had become interested as well and headed over, ignoring his friends completely! Kihyun called after him with a scolding tone, a nagging tone. There were just so many people in the room currently, it was hard to focus on anything. (Me right now lol)

Jeonghan teased Soo Min about gaining another girl friend and she pouted in response. Youngmi cooed at how adorable the couple were and explained how she met the other three girls in the other room, Min Ji, LiNa and Mei Yi. She expressed how she’d like for Soo Min to hang out with them soon and she gave a nervous maybe as an answer. Before anything else could really happen, Minhyun returned after making the phone call about the catering service. He explained that the food would arrive about an hour and a half from now.

“Let’s make some snacks in the meantime.” He instructed and noticed how many were in the room now. He started to assign everyone a task to do and before they knew it, they were already heading into the living room to serve the snacks. Just in time for BooSeokSoon’s special stage… “Just Do It!”

“Do what?” Mingyu innocently asked.

“Just do it!” The trio exclaimed again.

“Do what?!” Mingyu pouted. “Do what exactly?!”
